Swimming pool electrocution

Please folks....if you have a swimming pool, make sure the GFI or GFCI is installed properly and is working. A member of Larry's family died yesterday while swimming in a pool owned by another family member when part of the electrical system shorted out....She was a young woman and leaves behind 5 children.....

This terrible tragedy could have been easily avoided.. sad.gif

Please keep these children in your prayers....

The key to a modern low maintenance landscape is by severely limiting the number of plant species used and planting those few plants in large quantity to fill the landscaped space. For the Orlando, Fl area an example would be Sabal Palm, the state tree, Pink Muhly grass as the groundcover and a few Waxleaf Ligustrum, Ligustrum japonicum, trained as tree form to screen select sight lines. You could choose three different plant species, but the idea remains the same. Few plant types in large quantity to fill the space. The side of the house with the double gate is going to be different than the two sides along the pool because that side of the house is going to need a path or a boat pad. Maintain the simplicity of planting style, but that could be where you add more plant species.

I'm so sorry--how very tragic. Another frightening possibility is the pool drain system that can generate a powerful suction that pulls small people (children) to it, usually well under the water.

Oh my god how terrible. My deepest sympathy for you and the family.
When we had our pool installed I was adamant the electrician have all the paperwork showing it passed inspection and code and all the proper permits were pulled. I was always worried about having electricity and water together and there was a light in the pool. That always worried me.

I know everyone involved has to be just sick over it especially the ones that witnessed it.
The family is in my prayers.

Oh. My. Gosh. How horrible. I have a pool and between this and the "secondary drowning in children" I read about, I will now be paranoid.

Sadly, so many folks don't maintain their pools like they should...and these things happen....Not long ago, something similar happened in a community pool in Florida, but praise God. nobody died....
