How often does your cat use the litter box?
Comments (15)I thought that was a hobby!! :D I would agree with elly_nj. As far as I understand it, many little pees might indicate an infection. But generally each animal is different. I tend to monitor for change once I know what's normal for each kitty in my life. I have one boy that likes to hold on til he leaves a cluster the size of my head (almost) in the litter box because he prefers to pee outside. My other guy will visit to box 3 or 4 times with moderate piles left behind every time. But it's worth a trip to the vet if you see any straining to pee, or if it's just going to keep you up at night. There's also that litter that's designed to change colour if there is infection present in the urine. Has anyone tried it? Does it work?? G'luck Lisa...See MoreDeciduous trees - leaf litter drop
Comments (23)Yes, Sam, the several rather young shingle oaks along a stream near me seem to hold on to every single browned leaf. Actually looks attractive because of it. Bill, I think a callus grows over the petiole connection and that's what literally cuts it off. But then early cold could slow/prevent that too. I think what you say can indeed be the case, like my Shumard oak that holds alot of its leaves overwinter and then they get pushed off in spring. Tommy, boxelders lose leaves (turn yellow) during much of the growing season. My removed river birch did it some. Tuliptrees and some others can do it prematurely if it's real dry....See MoreHow do you dispose of your kitty litter?
Comments (29)With the wildlife I have that visits my yard who leave their droppings etc. I lack concern about putting the used heavily urinated litter around my plants. Last night once again I was left with gifts on my patio. Most of those articles while they are correct that body waste can contain things that do go into the ground water they have not done any research in ways household garbage is handled including bagged kitty litter. In this area at least it is put into big mounds and compacted. You can frequently see trenches or drainage ponds to hold the liquid from the rain that washes through the mound. Those drainage ponds are allowed to seep into the ground or evaporate until they are full of particles. At that time they are either capped with dirt or dug out and the solid materials taken elsewhere. For a while those solid particles were spread on a field as an experiment to see what grew best. They no longer do that as it was discovered it concentrated heavy metals of various sort. So the short of this is that the kitty litter will eventually enter the ground water which is what most are concerned about....See MoreI finally found the perfect cat litter!
Comments (5)Pretty good I guess, but remember I have two big dogs sniffing around. It's easy to sweep. The cats sometimes really get into covering their mess up so some of it goes flying. It's good and saving a lot of money and I think the mail carrier will appreciate my change. lol It's easier to scoop too....See Morechisue
