Good Weather

Got some yard work and trivial chores done, but enough is enough.This makes 5 weekends in a row of good beach time. Better get that cooler loaded with some beer. Salted p-nuts in the shell to munch. PB&J sandwich for lunch. Won't bore you with fun at the beach pix. Hope you are enjoying something today that isn't work.

I am already there! I'm enjoying my iced mocha coffee rather than a beer right now. It is a little overcast here at the beach today. A nice sea breeze blowing in. An excellent day to enjoy the waves.

I just spent great gardening weather at a wedding shower for my niece who is the daughter of a sister who hasn't spoken to me in 3 years. Sighhhh. Families.

Giniene, you don't know how many times we've dicsussed selling our house, and the thought of leaving 10 years of gardening totally drains me. I understand what you are feeling. Only you have it double. I keep thinking, I'll take a little of this or that with me, if we do, but in reality, you can't take it with you. At least not me. I then think about all the things that I can't do here because of one situation or another, and that starts to cheer me up, and make me think of fresh possibilities. I'd say, make the most of what you have, that way you won't have any regrets when you go. Thank you for compliments on my pictures. It is my way of sharing something I think is so nice. It's nice to have internet 'neighbors'. Thinking of fall usually cheers me up a bit. A bale of hay, some pots of mums, a few pumpkins and gourds..apple and pear picking...it is only around the corner..don't let this lull get to you too much... There will be lots of us here cheering you on, and sharing your new experiences when you do move. I know I have learned so much from my coming to the Garden Web. Thanks for sharing in it for me. JoAnn Thanks for your post, I am not even down that deer ate one of my favorite hosta this afternoon right in front of my front porch, and some lovely phlox that were in a border near my driveway. ( I haven't sprayed in at least a month or two...it's my fault..I pushed it too far, and the good feeling I got from starting to get back out there is carrying me through..I'm still smiling. )

I am going to uncover mine today Kenstar. The itch has got to bad for me!!LOL!! I have spring flowers blooming all around them. The burlap looks terrible! I dug up my Lady In Red yesterday and replaced it. But no worries I put in a huge pot that I am going to put in the basement over winter. I looked at the 10 day and they say there is no chance of frost or even temps in the 30's. If there is a chance of frost in the future i will just run around the yard with sheets! I have well over 100 Daffodils in bloom and about a dozen early Tulips also. Along with many other early spring bulbs. Just like Whass my Forsythia is in full bloom as of yesterday!!

Beautiful blooms palmsprings! I cut most of my leaves off in October due to the inevitable rust but one it dried out here, they all began to leaf out again and almost all of my big trees in the ground are getting ready to bloom and some of mine in pots. We have been in the high 80's. I'm worried the ones in the ground may not open up before the nights turn cold. I saw a forecast for low of 49 next week. I think they will drop the buds. I will bring the ones in pots in so their buds will be protected. Darn it... two are huge NOIDS, 7' tall, 6' wide and I really wanted it to bloom so I could tag them correctly.

Hmmm. Must have been a hit-or-miss sort of thing. I think we had a brief period of morning showers, because the ground was drying when I left at lunch, but there was some sunshine (had trouble getting the dog back in because of it), and last night I went out and froze at a baseball game. Clear skies, so the temps were dropping like a rock. Of course, Tuesday I left my mom's house in rain and decent sized hail, drove 1.5 miles home, where I found it dry and cloudy. Location, location, location.

After last week's storms, my beach is in my north pasture, south pasture and basement. And just for kicks, it rains a regular rain a few times every day. I picked strawberries in shifts two nights ago. I need to weed! I need to mow! I need to do something about the sliding barn door that's now laying on the ground. At least it wasn't demolished. I hope it's repairable after the barn itself is repaired.

About one half inch rain in the past 2 hours with more on the way. That will put us over 4.5" for the month. Still, I have accomplished a lot in the yard. I start real early (5:00 a.m. sometimes) to beat the heat. That's a good time to do some pruning and weeding. I wait until 7:30 before I mow. There are no neighbors sleeping at that time, so I don't feel guilty.

I work hard for a few hours, read the paper, do stuff on the computer and then...take a nap! If it is raining early in the day, then I take my nap earlier in the day!

havn't been to a "real" beach since 1988, when we moved from san diego to Detroit.....one thing I really miss....

Oh, susanjf, Michigan is loaded with good beaches! Hope you'll find one not too far from Detroit. Lake Michigan beaches are my favorites, but Lake Huron which is closer to you, has some nice ones, too.

The Lake Michigan beach was under extreme fog, and cool wind. Lucky there are alternatives nearby, which was sunny, warm and no winds. Any chores not done by 7am can wait.
