Photos From Normandy

About 10 years ago on a trip through France, my wife and I spent a couple of days in the Normandy area. We went to the town of Arromanches-les-Bains, the beach there was what the Allies reffered to as "Gold Beach", one of the five main landing sites for the Allied Invasion of Normandy.

There were still large steel and concrete things in the water that were placed subsequent to the landings to construct a artificial harbor so larger vessels could get close to the shore to unload supplies.

This was a military looking vehicle in the town.

These is a view along the beach showing some fortifications.

A cliff towering over the beach that had large fortified gun emplacements.
