I have a plastic one like that, but I've never used it. They sell them almost every place that sells kitchen gadgets.

The ones on amazon come with reviews! I've thought about it, but I think there's some waste. Still tempting though,

I had one, but rarely used it.

I preferred cutting it into wedges, loosening it from the skin, etc and served it on a plate.

Each person would take a wedge, then using their knife, cut chunks from the loosened skin and eat.

Always had that the 4th of July with country style grilled ribs.

I have one, though I can't remember the brand, purchased on Amazon. I use it at least once a week. Pineapple goes into my daily green drink, plus I use it pretty frequently in other dishes.

There's very little waste, though it took me a pineapple or two to get the hang of it. Those were uneven, but sure didn't go to waste. It's one little kitchen gadget that really works every time.

I have one and I love it. I have used it at least once a week for a year and it is easy to use and a snap to clean. Stainless steel and has great reviews from Avon where I purchased it.

Does anyone else have to cook their pineapple? The enzyme in raw pineapple makes eating it really uncomfortable. I know not everyone is affected this way. Cooking briefly is an easy fix, but I still wish I could eat it raw.

Juellie, the problem with asking them to core, peel, and slice a pineapple at the grocery is that they might not scrub it down before cutting into it. Pesticide residues on the outside skins, peels, hulls, husks, and rinds can be very high.

If these fruits and veggies are cut before washing, the knife can deliver dirt and pesticides into the meat. It's probably not the best idea to buy cut up pineapple or melons or other produce at the store.

I know a fair amount about pesticide use and am also very sensitive to chemical exposure. I've had to really learn to be careful, whenever possible.

I love grilled, fresh or canned, pineapple slices with grilled ham steak.

Usually lazy, buy one already cut/cored. Not sick yet. Buying whole is nice, you get the top to plant in a pot. I do eat the core.

The average price of a stainless steel slicer/corer in a kitchen gadget store is $20. That is one great price for a stainless cutter. If it's an item you think you will get good use from, I wouldn't think twice. Go for it.

Susan, I can't eat pieces of raw, fresh pineapple, anymore. But whirled up in one of my drinks, or cut into chunks with yogurt, seems to make it work just fine for me. Like you, cooking it also does the job.
