Twin Tornadoes

Last night's news about the twin tornadoes brought back a memory for me from long ago.

I was either a sophomore or junior in high school when we had a tornado hit on Palm Sunday. It hit particularly hard on what was called Church Road. At the end of the road was a fire station and the siren had just gone off when the twister hit the station. As it proceeded up the road, it split in two and damaged both sides.

I knew a number of the people who were hit by the tornado as well as our church being damaged. It took out all the pine trees in the church cemetery, completely leveled the church and the nun's house.

I spent a good part of my Easter vacation helping with the clean up and still have the clippings from the paper. The devastation from just one is horrendous, but two of them was beyond belief.

Really feel sorry for those that got hit by the tornadoes.
