Has anyone been to Dollywood?

Going in a couple of weeks and renting a house with my sisters, Mom, and daughter. Any suggestions? We are driving down to Biltmore while we are there.

No, but it sounds like you'll eat well there. I was told recently that Dollywood was awarded top honors in food served at an amusement park. Have fun!

The Apple barn in Seveirsville has wonderful breakfast. We took our exchange student and a couple of Lauren's friends in 2012. There's also a 1950s diner in Pigeon Forge, we ate there a couple times and the girls loved it.

Don't remember much of Dollywood, I do know it changed quite a bit from when it first opened. I liked it better the original set up, they had local people set up with demonstration stations (how to make lye soap, woodworking, blacksmithing etc...) here and there throughout the park. Now they are located in one area in buildings.

The food inside the park was expensive as it always is and didn't think it was that great. They did have a big outdoor bbq area. They also had a 1950s diner but the food there wasn't that good, especially compared to the one mentioned above.

FWIW the old one at Longwood Gardens has died. According to their database, they are trying other younger ones accessioned starting in 2012. Unfortunately they are prone to severely damaging foliar diseases in hot, humid climates...not just root rots! I have a normally finicky Rhododendron 'Nancy Evans' that is growing like a champ in these clammy parts - growing just fine because it's grafted onto a super rot resistant hyperythrum hybrid. The foliage always looks flawless. Although it's fascinating that there's a recent report of grafting Sequoia onto Metasequoia, I can't think that grafting Sequoiadendron onto Metasequoia would make a damn bit of difference in the eastern US. Summers are either going to be pleasant enough (e.g., lower dewpoints) that they don't suffer from Cercospora, or they aren't!

I cleared out all my weeds and put mulch down a month ago. All of a sudden these are everywhere. I belong to a Facebook group who said it’s an invasive weed. But the root is so thick and my husband is using a hatchet to get it out. They all spreading all over.

Those were funny! When I worked (before children) I was fairly naive. I had a masters in my field, and was usually the youngest person at my level. I can’t remember ever feeling the need to keep quiet or defer to any of the males regarding any work issues. My boss was pretty much the same age as my dad, and was generally protective of me. However, I do remember a couple of times feeling uncomfortable (not even sure that’s the right word, I guess offended is more accurate) when I might be the only female in the company of my boss and his boss and the attorney…all much older. Since they basically saw me as a ”kid” they would at times talk over me. Ex: Traveling in a car after an important, multi million $ RE closing…the Boss’s boss kept talking about the bank’s attorney, an attractive mid-forties woman. He said, ” Nice carriage (body) but you can keep the helmet (face.)” I mean, seriously? It was just disappointing. Ofc, I didn’t say anything bc I was just kinda shocked/sad…but looking back I really should have. I know I wouldn’t have faced repercussions, and I think he literally just forgot I was in the car. I think it would’ve made him think if I had piped up. I was just naive and surprised that men their age and level would talk about women like that.

My nephew was the food and beverage director at Dollywood for several years. We loved the park, I liked that they had trees and shade throughout the place! My sure to visit The Old Mill they have great food and shopping. I have a lot of their pottery!

We only live about sixty miles from Dollywood. Our oldest daughter and family go there at least four times a summer.
Wife and i went one time about two years ago and had a good time. Lots to see and do.

Went there a couple of weeks ago. Love the food. Have lots of good shows there too. Buy tickets before you go so you don't have to wait in line to get tickets. We bought tickets at our motel which was no cheaper but saved lots of time waiting in line. If you are staying in a motel, I highly recommend Comfort Inn Apple Valley. Park at Patriots Park behind the Old Mill and ride the trolley. Trolley costs 50 cents per person and drops you off right at the gate of Dollywood. Dollywood gets really crowded after 3:00. The Old Mill has good food but we really like the place across the street called Old Mill Pottery House Grill or something like that.
