Yes, Jodi, a Westie without the Westie haircut. We keep him trimmed but will let him grow out a little now that it's getting cooler. Terrific picture from Bodie. Is it very developed or touristy there now, or just the buildings and that's it? I see, Jim. We don't have that type of jay here in California; we have the scrub jays which aren't as good looking and the Stellars in local mountains which are georgeous birds. Not sure what "yours" is called.

gazania_gw, I had that same situation in one of my hanging basket plants in the atrium last summer. I was terrified to water my plant and drown the babies so my plant ended up in very bad shape by the time they flew the coop lol. I put a little bird house out there now but they have not tried it out. It was such fun though having them in the atrium where we could watch them daily. I would put bird seed and water out for them. Tiny little birds, I guess they were finches.

Here's another of my favorite rose bushes, Rainbow's End, only about knee high. The blooms change color as they age, so there are blooms of pink and yellow on the bush at the same time. It's very cheerful. Here's the bloom-- Here's the spent bloom-- Here's the bush--

Stopped by Pymatuning Lake and the famed spillway where people toss bread into the water. Carp gather in the bowl of the spillway so thick that it is said that ducks walk on their backs competing for the bread. The walkways and surroundings have been added to make it a very attractive area since I was there 10 years or so ago. The fish were thick in the bowl of the spillway yesterday, but the water was so dark and choppy, I didn't get any decent pics of them. Here the ducks gather and slide down the rim of the bowl to get the bread.

On the way to the family reunion a couple of weeks ago, my wife and I stopped to visit someone she knew from high school who lived near where the reunion was being held.

The friend has a small farm, with a few horses, sheep, and an assortment of fowl.

Bob, that fancy chicken in the first pic is interesting. Looks like some neat artwork on those feathers.

mare_wbpa The granddog is a Schnoodle. Mama was a miniature Apricot poodle and Papa was a mini Schnauzer.

I think they said it was a "tophat chicken" (or something like that) and that its "tophat" was less extreme than the ones that are entered in shows. However the more extreme ones often have trouble seeing because their feathers block their eyes, and they sometimes don't see things like a fox sneaking up.
