Thermadore oven owners..Please tell me about your experience!!!
Comments (22)If you are having an installition tech do the install, he will undoubtedly, cut out the back of the cabinet. I installed into a 27" standard oven cabinet. and so I had close tolerances and careful front surgery to do on the cabinet. Installing into the larger cabinet should be easier for your tech. I was doing the install myself, and when I encountered the depth issue, I called a carpenter friend that does a lot of kitchen installs. I asked him how often he has this kind of problem and what he does about it. He told me that it happens about half the time, and he just starts cutting the back until he gets enough space. If cutting the back panel isn't enough, he said that he just "starts hacking the drywall away" until he gets enough space. I had enough depth after I cut a sizeable piece out of the back panel. It amazes me that the appliance manuf. don't design to the standard cabinet size spec, and don't warn you that this could happen. I had a real sinking feeling, when I first realized that it was not going to fit into the cabinet. It turns out that cutting the back panel does not compromize the structural integrity of the cabinet. BTW, I installed into Thomasville cabinets. But I did check other brands of cabinets, and it was going to be a problem in all of them. If you were concerned about oven size, why didn't you get a 30" oven? That is monstous inside. I could not fit a 30" cabinet in, but I would have preferred to have the 30". Goodluck Carguy...See MoreQuestion about cataract surgery. Here we go again.
Comments (14)Thanks so much for this info. Happyladi, that is SO helpful! I like to hear of first-hand reports from someone who has actually had the ReStor lenses. On the web, I have found more comments of dissatisfied results than good ones, although I think people tend to report back more if they are unhappy. I guess millions of people have accommodated to reading glasses, so I can, too. All my life I have had to contend with my nearsightedness. My array of eyewear is mind boggling. Regular glasses, prescription sunglasses, contact lenses, readers for over the contact lenses and regular sunglasses for over the contact lenses. Plus, carrying contact lens solution, lens container and my regular glasses just in case I need then while wearing my contacts. I had to wear contacts while skiing because the goggles didn't fit over my glasses. On the other hand, when snorkeling the water magnifies things so I could see fine without glasses. Of course, I had to have glasses handy for when I got out of the water!! For those of you with good eyesight, count your blessings!...See MoreCataract surgery whine........
Comments (17)I wore contacts a couple of times, but not for long. They weren't monovision. My astigmatism was severe, and back when I tried contacts they couldn't correct my vision. I wore them for my wedding (didn't want to wear glasses, don't ask me why), and years later when I played volleyball. Lynn, with monovision, doesn't each eye have an area (different for each eye) in which it can focus clearly? I haven't found anything my left eye can focus on, near or far. What I'm supposed to have is called mini-monovision, which apparently differs from true monovision. What happens with night driving? The doctor told me yesterday I could drive at night as soon as I was comfortable doing so. I drove home tonight at twilight, and my left eye smeared the oncoming lights horribly. Jannie, that's discouraging. I'm 68, so my doctor might not be eager to redo the surgery either. But I was truly better off with cataracts than I am right now....See MorePlease tell me about your experience with appliance pulls
Comments (13)My SZ 635 handles are slightly longer than 30 inches. I wouldn't go smaller for such a large refrigerator, and handles need to be accessible by all user heights. I liked the SZ pulls so much I also put one on my overlay Miele dishwasher. The kitchen drawers use a similar shape (scaled down). I vaguely recall these are by Hafele. Trim on my Pro Island Wolf hood also repeats this shape, as do the handles on my Wolf wall ovens. This is all circa 2010, so I cannot comment on present SZ/Wolf handle styles, if different....See Morekudzu9
