Another Reborn Doll that I've made...

Another reborn doll I made! I'm not trying to sell them here. I just like showing them. Besides, this one has already been sold. I don't want people to get the wrong idea when I post their pictures. This kit has been sculpted by Elisa Marx and it is named Majara. I think she turned out beautiful!

Amazing! I was prepared for something like I've seen where you have to be polite about....BUT, she is gorgeous! You do wonderful work! It's obviously a labor of love.

Thank you! Yes, I put a lot of love into making them. It's my escape from the real world while they're being created.

I didn't mean to give anyone the willies, nightmares or creep them out. I just wanted to show my work. :-) The people who collect do so for their own reasons. Mostly, just because they fall in love with a face or maybe one will resemble a baby from their past. Or maybe, they just think it's cute. There are lots of reasons.

From OP: "She pointed to the table and chairs and I went to speak and noticed a bassinet in the corner of the kitchen. I immediately lowered my voice, apologized if I was too loud and sat down. I asked "Babysitting the Grands today?" She walked toward the bassinet and with her finger motioned me to come over. Soon as I got to the bassinet she put her index finger to her lips and did the 'ssshhhh' very quietly. She pulled the blanket away and told me she wasn't babysitting but his was her baby, Joey and that Joey's sister was napping in the other room. Long story a bit shorter --- she showed me Joey's sister, dressed in a really soft, fluffy sleeper, sucking on a pacifier." This is a person blurring reality and her "collection" You don't have to be quite (finger to lips shhhh) if they're dolls. Bread, wine bottles and grapes are not exclusive to vinyards. In fact I have all three here in my little rental hovel and normally have all three in my own home, and we don't grow grapes. We have friends who do own a vinyard, and gosh darn it, they have the same three items in their home. Now to blur reality with fantasy you would need to offer your guess a slice of plastic bread, or maybe sniff the air and wax poetic over the scent of the plastic bread, but just having it sit around isn't blurring reality. Much like doll collectors who have dolls on display. They are enjoying the beauty of the dolls. If they then take them down and have a tea party with them (and they're over the age of say 12) they're having some issues with reality. Now off subject...Organic...DANG YOU!!! Did you beat me to something? :oP I have two of the lovely chocolate ribbed coverlets for my master bedroom. I love them...but must admit, the cats do too and they're getting furry :( I'm going to have to buy something else (but it will be seffra! cuz you've ruined me for anything else). Now I'm going to go talk to my sheets! :oP Back to your regular (goofy) programing ladies!

Sheila, thank you for responding.Your loyalties to Justice and kindness etc. are for me included under the heading of God, that is, Justice and kindness/charity. Yet I don't doubt that there are some differences in the details of our thinking. Paul, I had expected the dialog to be political. That it has become, in part, a question of religion was a surprise. Ingrid, anyone who has ever worked for the federal government knows that what Hillary did with her Email server brings jail time. No excuses. The reason for such a severe penalty is because of the severe damage such behavior causes, that is, the death of American military and intelligence members as well as revealing classified state secrets. She was handling material of the highest classification. In addition there is sufficient evidence that her Email was indeed hacked. That she was exonerated by a politicized Justice Department does not rectify the situation. The most generous argument for not prosecuting her is that it could have destabilized the American electoral process, a significant consideration. In other, words her exoneration was not based on her innocence (because she was not innocent) but rather on practical considerations. Many of the men who wrote the Constitution were deists and the document reflects that. The framers of the Constitution were opposed to an established state religion, not opposed to God. The Constitution has provided wide enough scope for both atheists and those who believe in God to flourish. And now I will stop posting on this topic as I have said what I have to say. Cath

I showed Tony and he asked who's baby that was. He could hardly believe it was a doll.She is beautiful!!! How much do you charge for one of your dolls?? Can people send you pics of their newborns and you make it look like their real child??? Do you do boys too??

They normally run about $600 plus shipping.
I have never done it. But some people have matched a kit to a persons baby picture and then reborn it. In other words, you pick a kit that comes closest to looking like your baby for it. And then add the same color hair and eyes, skin coloring to match.
Yes, I have done boy babies as well. Most of the time you can redress a girl reborn doll into boy doll clothes and they can pass as either gender.

This is something new to me. As a male and a person with some artistic capabilities but nada in the painting/drawing departments, I marvel at the talent on display.

Having said that, I find this expression to be more than a little creepy. If these are done to match a former or present human baby, the desire to have something like that strikes me as being particularly odd. Sorry.

She is a beautiful baby. You really do such striking work. To make the doll look so life-like is quite an amazing talent. I remember you posting a picture before and being taken with how "alive" they look.

How long does it take you to do your part to the doll? Someone else sculpts it, right? And then you paint the doll to finish it? Do I have that right?

Snidely, That's alright. I understand how it could creep someone out.
This is remarkable though...someone has started making 3D likeness of their grandchildren and then selling them in their reborn store...

It varies on how long to make them. Usually 2-3 weeks.
Yes, someone else sculpts them and produces them in to vinyl kits and then we paint and finish them.

Okay, that photo of the kit just did me in. Scary. Where's its middle? It reminds me of the baby doll in Toy Story.

It's amazing that you could turn it into something so lifelike. You have a real talent.

We use a soft body that we fill with fiberfil and other fillings to weight it.
Here's a picture of Majara before she was completely finished, showing her body..

I just don't know about these dolls...i'll never forget the first one I saw years ago...they are beautiful but scare me, if that makes sense? your work is amazing....

About 20 years ago my granddaughter's other grandma sent a picture of her into some company that makes those dolls. It scared my granddaughter and she has not liked dolls since.Recently when they moved,they had to take the doll out of the attic and it's eyes had turned purple and it really freaked my granddaughter out.She didn't even want the doll brought to the new home. I love dolls and offered to take it,but my daughter wanted to keep it. I think they are beautiful when they are so lifelike.
