What's this CRAP when coming to the KT??? Some big flash ad with food, then you wait til all the food moves into a fridge. IDIOTIC!!! If they don't get rid of that, and quick, I'm OUTA HERE. Pure stupidity for advertising.

Use adblock plus on which ever browser you use. What browser are you using?
I have never seen the ad because I use adblock plus

First, I had the wrong engine in mind. You have a Sprint/Quattro not a Quantum Power as I was thinking. thus the filter plate thing was off base. Still, it not likely the primer bulb. Whether it be with a independent dealer or Sears, this is a Briggs paid warranty. Briggs doesn't pay anyone to send parts to anyone. They expect their authorized warranty dealers to make the corrections. You taking apart something that isn't part of routine maintenance is akin to tampering, voiding warranty. If Sears or any other dealer just sent you parts they would eat it, Briggs would not re-imburse them. If you were a certified small engine mechanic working for a certified warranty dealer you would know it because this is standard policy with anyone with a service network. The Chinese do not so they operate differently.

Eliminating variable throttle is the product of imbeciles and morons. Any methods to defeat this, with pictures, are welcome. I need high revs in thick grass, but have many mixeed areas of patchy grass such as edges of pinebarren and poor soil clay areas. I do not choose Chemlawn type practices. If I can't slow the engine speed in patchy areas, the mower will blow clouds of dry earth and dust, harming air quality, people's breathing and the engine air intake. Unbelievably rotten and stupid to eliminate the throttle speed control. Please, some parts company come out with an aftermarket kit of some kind. I suspect more than a cable is needed. That is, how to attach cable where there never was one... Thank you.

Buy a can of spray carburetor cleaner. With the air filter cover off, spray about a one or two second burst of the carb cleaner into the carburetor throat. Then try to start the engine. If the engine starts and runs for about 2 seconds each time you spray the cleaner into the carb throat....your no start issue is due to no fuel delivery from the carb to the intake. If, however...the carb cleaner does not provoke the engine to run (for a couple seconds) that means the problem lies elsewhere. Bear in mind, the mere presence of a spark does not mean the spark is happening at the proper time. It is possible that the first episode of trouble, resulting in some "back firing" may have partially sheared the flywheel key, which would put the ignition spark timing to something other than the proper time. But don't go yanking the flywheel off yet. Let's see how it does on the alternate fuel (carb cleaner) first. Then we'll go from there to a next step.

well i DID replace the air filter and also decide to try and let her run a spell without it on altogether to see if I could further diagnose the problem. Seems to be kicking the fuel back from the intake. With the air filter off, I can see fuel spitting back a bit which would explain why it is running a bit rich. looks like I'll have to tear it down and replace the valve and maybe re-seat it. I'll check the rings on the piston while I'm in there and hopefully the cylinder looks ok. I really wanted to avoid tearing it up, but the rest of the machine is pretty rugged and in decent shape, seems a shame to junk it.

You are welcome. And yes it will be much faster because it doesn't have to wait for all those graphic heavy ads to load.

I also recommend going into the settings for adblock plus and under subscription preferences for filters make sure easylist is selected.

That must be the new refrigerator that is going to post menus on your computer or tablet, based on the ingredients inside it. I heard about that on PBS radio. The reporter said that his bathroom scale had spoken to his fridge, and his menu choices were 'lettuce' and 'water'.
