Help! Can't Get the Wrinkles Out...

of my new comforter!
It's 100% Polyester from Target but as you can see from the picture there are wrinkles that won't come out! I washed it as directed in a commercial, front-loading machine and dried it on low. I even hung it on the clothes line (it had a strange, chemically odor) and after it was dried I spritzed it again with water and let it dry again! Nothing works!
The second picture shows the whole thing with this wonderful headboard Ron and I got at an auction last week for $30! It's antique oak and everything! You can't really see it very well in this picture, though.

Comments (12)Treating pet odors is what I do for a living and I see situations like this on a daily basis. I am going to asume your basement subflooring is concrete which is porous and will absorb urine and its odors. Bleach is the strongest household disinfectant you can use to kill germs and odors and it will do good as a initial clean-up on the surface which is the key word. After the bleach has dried the concrete still has wet urine and odor below the surface that is still off-gassing. The next step is get the concrete as dry as possible by using air movers and dehumidifiers together this equipment will also dry the walls if the cats have been spraying on them. Finally we use a industrial sealer that has a moisture barrier and a odor barrier once applied we guarantee you will never smell any pet urine odor from any area we treat. Kills is designed for smoke odors, as cat and dog urine acids will eventually weaken the product and the urine odor will be back. Enzymes are temporary fixes or are for minor problems per the manufacturers instruction the area has to stay wet for up to 3 weeks for best results and @$20-40 gal do the math bleach is better and stronger. Besides you have already cleaned the area now you have to get it sealed. Oh! and toss the carpet It would cost you more for a pet odor treatment then replacement. Comments (8)Since you're painting anyway, why not just take a razor knife and cut a square piece out of the plaster carefully. It is easy to restore with some glue a piece of flat molding and a piece of string. Just put glue on the ends of the molding after tying the string to it. Pull it back against the wallboard and let the glue set up by tying it to another piece and twisting it until the outer piece is flat against the wallboard. When dry insert the piece of wallboard in the hole and attach with wallboard screws. Patch the crack and sand and your ready to paint. That way you will see what is going on and get the nail out easily. Comments (15)Thanks everyone! You've give me some food for thought and some good online places to look at. My husband was home this afternoon and could watch the youngest kiddo and supervise the painters while I slipped out to the closest tile store. It's not the best tile store and they don't have any of the more feminine glazed tiles I would prefer. But I did find this option I'll attach. It would be the travertine subway everywhere with some sort of decorative spot above my cooktop out of the darker tiles. Probably put them on a diagonal or something. They also sell those in a smaller size. They coordinate nicely with the darker spots in the granite. It's still more masculine than I would like but at least I have one option. Any opinions? Momto3kiddos I looked at Pratt and Larson online and they have some beautiful tiles! Really up my alley with the floral stuff. I see they have a dealer downtown so I might try and swing by at some point if I can. I'll look more online too. Can I ask what their price point is though? Comments (11)Thanks, all. Colleen, it worked! I tested with my scrap to make sure it could be ironed. I made sure the nap of the towel and the fabric were aligned. I ended up spraying all the wrinkles and going over it all several times: re-spraying, re-ironing. My iron's polyester setting won't let me use steam. My cat normally likes to help me sew or cut by holding down the fabric for me, but she REALLY loved this stuff. ;) I was shooing her off the ironing board constantly. There is still a slight trace of wrinkles but not enough to really bother me, with the use I have planned. I've now got it basted onto the faux fur. (I didn't want to take a chance if it making new wrinkles, though I'm sure it was being compressed on the bolt that really did it.) Soon I will start the binding....See Moregemini40
