Per a couple of search, I don't see in the husk corn on the cob... but there is cooler corn.... clean cooler, put husked corn and pour 2 tea kettles of boiling water, close up for 30 minutes and voila!

Kathy, I think that would work. I've made it that way in the oven before so I'm sure a roaster would work if it got hot enough.

I've never used an electric roaster so can't say. I love it done on the grill and you could fit lots (same way of removing husks/silk). My sister does it in a cooler for camping and larger amounts, but be aware that the boiling water may cause the cooler to become slightly deformed.

The plastic used for a cooler may be unsafe if subjected to water hotter than from a hot water tap (as for washing). It's entirely possible that dangerous chemicals could leach out of the plastic, into the water and so onto the corn. The fact that it deforms tells me that it's the wrong thing to use.

Corn in hot water cooks in a few minutes (maybe 3-4), could you use a large pot of boiling water and run a few batches through?

Remove about half of husk.

Stick in microwave.

Cook 2 - 3 min. on high for a single cob ... don't know how much time to add for multiple cobs.

Pull off remaining husks and silk, roll in a block of salt-added butter.

Delish!

Kathy, here's what I've done when making fresh corn for lots of people:

Remove the husks and silks, rinse the ears, and cut them in half. You can get a lot of half ears in one big pot of water. Put about a dozen half cobs in a pot of boiling water, cook for a couple of minutes. Remove the corn to a baking sheet and set aside. Follow the same routine as many times as you need.

Turn the burner off, and put all the corn into the pot to keep hot until ready for use. Just don't overcook the corn or it will be mushy and icky.

Two half ears are easier to deal with on a plate of food than one whole ear, by the way. :-)

Here's the way I do mine and fresh corn nor frozen from the supermarket.

Fill a large stockpot halfway with unsalted water and bring to a rolling boil.
Add corn on the cob (husk and cornsilk removed) to the boiling water.
Let water return to a full boil.
Cover pot and immediately turn off heat.
Let covered pot sit undisturbed on the burner for 10 to 15 minutes.
Depends on the size of the ears of corn as to whether I halve them.
Remove corn and serve hot with your choice of butter, margarine, salt, and/or other seasoning

Agree with Snidely, the cooler might leach chemicals.

Really like the cooler idea, but am doing a test here to see if it warps. I've cleaned out the cooler that I want to use and have a pot of water boiling on the stove. Now to see if it warps or not.

You're not concerned about the toxins that might leach into the water (and corn) by using boiling water in the cooler?? That would be my first concern.

The cooler idea is not a good one. Whether or not it will leach the chemicals is debatable ( but entirely feasible) - but you will certainly ruin a good cooler. It warps the insides.

Do you have access to a large propane turkey fryer? You can use the large kettle and boil water and do the corn that way outdoors. Safety first though - have it somewhere there is NO traffic. You wouldn't want someone knocking it over.

I think I would just shuck and clean the corn and put it in the roaster with some water and cook/steam it that way. You don't have to cook sweet corn for a very long time.

Have a large pitcher of melted butter to dunk the ears in as they come out of the roaster!

Okay, I've done my homework! If i used the cooler trick, I would put pans in the cooler to avoid any leaching.
But have decided to use the Nesco electric cooker.

BTW, when I tested the cooler (Igloo) it did not warp.

I cook mine in a electric steamer perfect every time.

I guess I steam mine which I find is the quickest way to do them. About an inch of water in the bottom of the pot. Put corn in, bring to a boil and boil for about 5 min. Put lid on and let sit until ready to serve.

KathyG.... let us know what you hear from Igloo and how your corn worked out in the pans within the cooler... Duh... wish I'd thought of that part...
