Nancy...you can fertilize with either Rose or Tomato Fertilizer..you want one that has a higher middle number the "P" on the N-P-K ratio which is usually shown on the container...I love using 10-10-10 as well because it is balanced and feeds all parts of your plant...Fertilizing should be done at the same time you prune in Spring or the same time you fertilize your Roses...the main thing to always remember is to NEVER fertilize once you see your vines setting flowerbuds for IF you do...that wonderful 6 week period of blooms will be reduced to a mere 2 weeks..if only rushes their bloom period...I don't fertilize as much as I have in the past because my soil is much richer now with my yearly regime of adding 2-4 inches of compost on top of last years mulch and then putting down new mulch..so I have the organisms actively breaking down the old stuff into food for my plants...Jeanne

There was a thought-provoking (and sometimes controversial) thread a while back about the ethics of shopping online vs. in brick-and-mortar stores. One point made is that if the store did you a service (provided expert knowledge, for instance), it would be fair to try to make the purchase from them or give them a chance to match or come down in price, if cost is a factor. Another point was that, even if the store hasn't provided specific expert knowledge, sometimes it can be valuable to see things in person before buying them (such as coordinating kitchen finishes). In this case, the store provides a service by having items in stock that you can examine in person, and that should be worth something. I know it's inconvenient to think about ethical "obligations" when shopping, but it's worth it to try to support local stores if we want to maintain varied competition and a chance to see items before buying (without waiting on shipping). And really, I don't know that the answer is cut and dried here anyway, since Bee was able to examine it in person, but not in the exact finish. I just sympathize with the sales people and business owners trying to get by along-side cut-throat online competition and wanted to throw in my two cents.

I love my AF and IP. I use both together for meatloaf and dressing. works great! I haven't used my toaster in over 2 yrs and my oven once or twice a year. it is so big for 1 person. Last fall I got an AF oven and so far love that but haven't even used the basket to it yet. I just toss what I want to cook, toast or heat up on the tray and turn it on. A few yrs back I made a great steak in the AF. I've cooked chicken in it and the green bean casserole (half the recipe) in a pot that fits in the basket (or on the rack of AFO). check out the Blue Jean Chef for AF recipes.
