The Voice finale . . . fans, are you happy?

I had to miss the finale last night, but I was happy about the outcome. I loved Jake (so sweet!), but he's young and I think he'll do well, possibly helped by Blake. Christina is talented, and young too, and she'll probably have similar opportunities.

We missed it Susan. Was it the guy who wears a hat and glasses who won? We love the Voice, right from the gate the singers are amazing.

The power of Christina last week was incredible.
They'll all do well!

Yes the guy with the glasses won it all. Christina has a contract with Adam Levine, she came in 3rd, Jake was the second place winner and I hope and pray that some country recording company will pick him up.But in my opinion the real highlight of the show was when Jake sang with Alabama the whole place went wild!!!

Hey Mocc, please send some of your weather here to Buffalo NY. We had temp of 51 yesterday, blue skies. even had the windows open in the car. Today we've had about 18" of snow with high winds and blowing snow. Can't open my back door, about 2-3 ft.drifts in my driveway. My Bella has to practically make a tunnel to get into the yard . My car has about 3 ft. drifted around it and the street looks like a desert full of sand dunes but with snow instead. Hope my snow guy can snow blow all this stuff. Don't know where he'll put it. But I just checked the pots I have in the basement and my Frosted Mini Hearts shows nothing yet, Emerald Tiara 2 pips, Surfer Girl has 9, and Hideout has 2 with one leafing out.. So I'm kinda Happy Happy. But my nephew in Md. depressed me a bit telling me about his 70 deg. temps and daffodils up about 8". If this keeps up I won't have my new Hosta bed done till July. Think I'll light a candle for spring to hurry up!!

I've really been enjoying everyone's stories in this thread. You can see a lot of love here! Clementine, if you tell your mom to butt out, no matter how politely you say it, it will hurt her deeply. She advises you because she loves you and wants to give to you, and she needs to feel needed. I had sort of the same problem with my mother. So I sat down and thought about how she would love to feel that she had done something nice for me. Then I did a little mental inventory of her skills, and she had no shortage of those. I wanted to sew new living room drapes, pleated. This was an area where I really would love her help. So when she was over, I took her to the fabric store with me and we picked out something pretty. Then she helped me measure and cut, I sewed, and together we hung them. It turned out to be a really nice mother-daughter time for us both. I got help with something I needed help with, and she got to feel needed and appreciated, which she was. I learned to think of things to ask her opinions and help with, and she learned to relax. Everybody won. If you think about it, maybe can you find a way to put your mom to work helping you sew, or can, or something?

FD, Now that I've gone back and re-read your previous couple posts, I must say I think you're a bit off, for lack of better description. "If that's how you talk to your DH and SD no wonder"-- Huh? WTH are you talking about? "Didn't your DH said that he has a problem with your treatment of him?" Uh, no. Of course he (like most of us) doesn't like it when it's pointed out to him that he's wrong. "he took a long time to voice that" No, FD. He's never liked being wrong. "So talking about open communication at home"-- yes, talk about it. We have LOADS of it. SD is glad she can FINALLY have some. Her own words!!!!!!! "her leg broken, it is still mom's fault"---WHO SAID THAT???? "I understand you have nothing to say nicksmom."--HUH? You are losing me here? "You know I am right."-- Now THAT is about the funniest thing I've hear all day...maybe even all year! I have yet to find you right about much. Sorry 'bout your luck. "I don't know who you blamed for ankle issue."--Welllll, up above you said I blamed Mom. Which is a bunch of crap, of course, but you said it. "Pretty soon you won't be able to blame mom anymore"--again, what have I blamed her for? Unless you are referring to the guilt trips and moving kids away, which are both REALITY, I'm not sure what you are talking about. Now, let's see if you can actually respond to ANYTHING above. Hi Janie, I spoke with Graber today and it is basically like I thought I would find. They do not have a complete stand alone program that will integrate with a Google Home or Alexa. The way that it works is you need to use a home automation controller like one from SmartThings. The motorized shades from Graber that have the Virtual Cord Control are what you need because they have the Z-Wave technology that can communicate with the SmartThings controller or one of several other controllers. I asked if they had a set up guide to walk someone through the process of setting this up. They said they do but that it is generic because the technology is always advancing. If this is something you are still interested in, I can send you a copy of the file they are sending to me. I don't know how complete it is going to be yet. If you just want motorized shades, they are available from Graber or Hunter Douglas but if you want to use your voice to control them it is getting just a little bit more complicated. But it does sound cool!! One thing to keep in mind with doing these things is that they operate on wi-fi and how well they operate depends on how well the signal travels through your home. Mike

We missed seeing Jake sing last week, and we really like his voice. I'm glad he did well. I'm going to have to try and find the show online........seeing him sing with Alabama. Wow!

I was rooting for Josh from the beginning...he was always my favorite. I was really surprised Christina was third...I thought she might win.

I think that when Adam offered her a contract Monday night it took some of the wind out of her sails..with the viewers.

I didn't watch a whole lot of The Voice this year, but Josh had been my favorite all along.

I'm more of a American Idol fan... finale tonight!

I was rooting for Jake from the very beginning. I think he will make a wonderful country singer. Watching him sing with Alabama was a real treat, and you could tell that Jake was in seventh heaven. I will be very surprised if Blake does not take Jake on tour with him. It was obvious that their affection for each other was real and they are great singing together. Who knows--Jake might be the next Garth???

Josh is very good...but I'm strictly a country music gal!

Adam did not offer Christina the record deal until Tuesday night, after voting was over, at the beginning of the finals show. I am sure Blake will take Jake on tour and Josh did some amazing numbers. I think if he had not won Usher would have offered a deal.
