Phyllis posted the recipe for them a while back. I made them even though I fear yeast. Man, oh man, are they good. They smelled wonderful baking and tasted even better. And they were so easy I couldn't believe it.

Sounds interesting.
Might be something for my monthly gal's luncheon, a week from Monday.

Glenda, here you go. They really are easy but the finished product looks like you kneaded for hours. I may add more pecans next time.

Sticky Quickies (Phyllis_mn)

1-1/2 c. flour
2 pkg. dry yeast
3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. water
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
1-3/4 c. flour

Combine 1-1/2 c. flour and yeast in a large bowl and set aside. Heat the milk, water, butter, sugar and salt until warmish. Pour into yeast and flour mixture. Add egg and beat for three minutes. Add the rest of the flour by hand. Cover and let rest 30 minutes. While dough is resting, combine the following and heat until melted:

3/4 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. chopped nuts
1 Tbsp. corn syrup
1 Tbsp. water

Pour mixture into a buttered 9x13" pan.

After 30 minutes, stir dough down and drop by tablespoon onto syrupy goop in the pan. (Trust me, there will be enough!!) Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Cool one minute and cover with a foil lined cookie sheet. Carefully invert to remove from pan.

That first recipe that mzdee contributed looks intriguing! I'm going to take my chicken out of the freezer now and start marinating it tomorrow. (Gotta think ahead!) The other recipe looks more like Teriyaki Chicken Wings which I also make but with less sugar (Splenda) and powdered Ginger and orange juice. My grocer sells whole chickens for extremely cheap occaisionally. I have a crock pot recipe that calls for a whole chicken and amazingly, it turned out pretty good. I never put raw meat with the exception of beef roasts in there before. Even pork I browned. So live and learn. I am going to try the sticky chicken marinated chicken recipe in the crock pot this week.

So happy that I am not alone. I have really been worried lately. I can have something in my hand one minute,then the next it is totally gone. My SIL sent me a book for my birhtday. I didn't want to tell her that I had already read it,and it was one of my favorites. She asked me how far I had gotten.So I started reading it,and it was completely new to me. The hardest thing is trying to remember words. I have to go to great lengths to describe to people what I am trying to think of. I have been told that it is Chemo Brain, but I am starting to think that it is more than that. This morning I got up early for a doctor appointment, got there and was told that it is not until tomorrow.When they called for the appointment, I went straight to the calender to write down the day and time. Pllog - my mom has been having a lot of memories of her dad of late. It actually came up in relation to my seitan experiments. He was a first generation American originally from Lithuania (over a generation before the Holocaust). My grandmother was a fiercely non-religious Wasp from Ohio. He was a difficult fellow but I think loving despite it. My mom didn’t know his family very well. But she has been remembering him taking her to New York and visiting kosher restaurants and a Hasidic synagogue. (And of course in my family always art supply stores.) She is realizing now he was trying to connect her to his roots. She really had a hard time with the kosher restaurant with mock veal cutlets (hence the seitan). Although she grew up in an almost exclusively Jewish town as the daughter of one of the only non-Jewish ladies in town she didn’t feel like she was herself. Although if you want to make her very happy smoked fish is a way to go. As far as me and odd food. Back to early school days - my sandwiches of homemade bread and what one teacher delicately called stinky cheese made me stand out. Stinky was cheddar or provolone. I also had white yogurt in a thermos when locally neon pink or blue flavored was all that was available. And childhood friends were often blown away by artichokes and the like. Oh and rock candy was a shocker too.

Glenda, thank you for asking for this.....I was going to make them, and could not for the life of me find the recipe! I was embarassed to ask Patti, so was hoping someone would request it! Of course, I'll find the recipe now, I imagine!

Hi all,

A question.

Would yeast for a bread machine work?

How much would I need? 1/2 tsp., maybe?

That's two questions, I guess.

Joyful, yes, you can use your bread machine yeast. It is 2 1/4 tsp. equivalent to a package of yeast.

Oh, of course, I found the recipe.....right in my recipe folder on my computer!!
