Posting a profile pic on Facebook

I've never had a profile pic on FB. I decided to post one today. I googled and found some directions and the picture is there but it is way too big, and I don't know if it is even where it should be.

How can I delete it?

Go to your home page (your Timeline) and hover your mouse over the picture. You'll see Update Profile Picture. Click on that, and you'll have some options.

It sounds like you might want to resize the picture before posting it again.

Susan, I followed your directions and on Timeline I chose the option "to be seen by" and clicked on "only me."

Think I'll wait now until my DGSIL is here and get him to do that for me. Of course that will be when ???. I don't like giving up, but there are times when it is not important enough to fret over.

unfortunately no Mike it could be enemies or those frienimies that once were friends and are no longer, often times they would do things like that simply because they can and they know it would be upsetting. Those people likely would not honor a request to please not do that. Or people that just get off on being A-holes they seem to be abundant. Also some people have been in groups or clubs etc and are no longer part of them, pictures of groups end up and not everyone in the group pic said it was ok to plaster their image every where. In fact I have been in pictures as a by stander and found my pic, had no idea it was there was never asked to be in a picture or to have it posted. Used to they had to ask permission to use your pictures and get signed release forms. Not to mention just being the polite thing to do. the thing about facebook is the opt out feature not opt in which makes if a bit different ballgame.

I just recently read an article on that and how it was set default to share which is just ridiculous. I highly recommend this site for anyone using facebook Get Protected I copied this info from one of the other forums I am on "NEW PRIVACY setting called "Instant Personalization" that shares data with non-Facebook websites and it is automatically set to "Enable." Go to Account >Privacy Settings > Applications and Websites >Instant Personalization > Edit Settings, and un-check "Enable". BTW if your friends don't do this, they will be sharing information about you." Hi Chubs! Well, I just tried on DH's page. I went to his page, clicked on the .."Write Post Add Photo / Video" clicked on post photo, browsed my files, chose a file, it loaded and then I clicked on post. And it did show up on his page... It did NOT show up on MY homepage, but when I clicked on MY name at the top of the facebook page, it DOES say I posted a pic on his page.

Oh Buehl, I have just spent 10 minutes getting all examples into this post to illustrate how many ways I have tried to link into GW from photobucket....Then the thing jumped to the main kitchen page and all my text is gone. This happens a lot to me. Other things that happen are that when I am adding a "link" into the "link" button below, it does not insert the link into the text where my cursor is set. I will try again. When I use the pasting of the photobucket "share link" into the text, like I did before in old GW, they are just text and not hot linked (green). When I link them to the link button below, the link is hot. In addition, when I copy the Photobucket "share link(s)" ("email&IM"; "Direct"; "HTML"; and "URL") into the "link" option below, it auto copies into the upper box of the "Link" option as well as the intended spot for the link in the bottom box. I have to "control"+A to highlight the text in the upper spot so I can delete it, and type in my title to my link. There seems to be a lot going on that isn't working with my Mac OS and Houzz. And there are others. Facebook will automatically resize a pic to fit the profile space...

Ruthie, even though I started at "Upload a photo" the pic is showing down the page where others have posted new pics. I tried dragging it up to the upload space, but that didn't work.

Just curious, Sue . . . why would you want your profile picture to be seen by only you?

Oh, wait--I think I understand now. The picture didn't turn out right, so you don't want to have it viewed just yet.

Susan, When I first signed up on FB it was only to keep in touch with nieces and nephews who are now living in many areas: N, S, E, W. We have exchanged pics of grands, etc., and that has worked fine and now that I am reaching 90, that means they are aging also and sadly two have passed on. I thought it was time to at least give them a recent picture of their old, getting decrepit, Aunt, and use it as a Profile pic.

I should have just used this one.
