iphone question regarding saving photos

I like to use my iPhone for photos even tho' a camera takes better ones. It's so handy.

Is there a way to move a number of photos at one time from the phone to my pictures on the computer? I usually email to myself the ones I want to save on the computer and then save into pictures, but it takes too much time with a number of photos.

When I sync my phone to my computer, I think my pictures are moved to 'Photos' on the computer automatically. It does ask me if I want to keep them on my phone as well.

Sjerin, when you say sync your phone to computer, do you mean when you charge it? I usually charge my phone in a wall outlet, but I wonder if just plugging it into my iMac would "sync" my photos to my computer.

Be sure to format the card in the new camera. After that, it should work beautifully. "...it's better to connect the camera to the computer than to remove the card. Removing the card over and over can cause issues with it." I disagree. Removing/replacing the card won't cause any issues at all, provided you do it correctly. Before removing the card from the camera, make sure that it is not still in the process of saving a photo to the card. Turn the camera off. Then remove the card. Put the card into the computer's card reader. It will most likely appear as a removable drive. When you are done moving/copying the pictures from the card to the computer, be sure you follow the proper procedure to disconnect the removable drive. Generally speaking, you should have an icon in the system tray (the lower right-hand corner of your screen) and it will have a green arrow. Right click on the icon and then click on "Safely remove hardware." You should get another window that will list removable drives. Click on the appropriate drive letter to select it, then click on the "close" or "disconnect" button. After a second or two you will get a popup that says it is safe to remove the hardware. Then, and only then, should you remove the card and reinsert it into the camera. Another factor -- when you keep the card in the camera, and use the connector cables to attach the camera to the computer to offload the images, you are using the camera's battery power, which will deplete it much more quickly than necessary. When the card is in a card reader attached to or integrated within the computer, it uses the computer's power, saving the camera's battery.

I will guess that the first step of the iCloud backup is to calculate how much data you need to back up and when it saw that there was not enough space it reported the error without backing up any of the photos. I don't have an iPhone, but can you connect it to your Windows computer? If so, you should be able to copy the photos from the phone to your computer. When I plug my Android phone into my computer, I open 'Computer' and can see the phone as a storage device. From there, I can copy the photos to Windows (my pictures folder) or delete the ones that I don't want. In your case, you could copy them to the external hard drive that you mentioned. If you already have a Photobucket account, can't you create an album of your Niece's birthday party, upload those pictures to it and send the link to that album to your sister? @taconichills.... I have not been shy about speaking up. I fully relate and have dealt with problems which necessitated jackhammering concrete, redoing tile, ripping up crooked sub-flooring etc. My list could go on. And I certainly don’t think it’s wrong to insist on the proper installation of things and a quality build. I’m just tired. For the record, some of the subs may be sloppy, unskilled and not exactly sticklers for quality, but most of them have worked extremely hard and some have worked well into the night in almost complete darkness. Laziness has, for the most part not been one of the problems I’ve dealt with. Lackadaisical attitude towards quality - yes. Laziness - no. I’m not a drinker, but I might just start :)

I have a Canon camera with Wifi too. I've never turned it on, it's a capability that's not of value to me. I find photos easy to unload by either using a USB cord (one of the standard sizes, any one works) or from the card, which I swap out anyway and access when removing the battery to charge. I've shared my view before, I think Win 10 is really not different at all from prior versions. It acts the same, it looks the same (since they changed the tile view, though that was always easy to avoid by using one of the simple add-ons like Classic Shell or Power 8). It's maybe a bit better in recovering resources and a bit more stable. Otherwise, very similar to its predecessors.

Syncing doesn't mean charging. You need to open up itunes and sync - this backs everything up.

As for saving photos, it's easy. Just hook your phone up to your computer. No need to load itunes. Your camera will show up under "my computer" as a device like anything else connected to your computer. Open it up, open the folders (there will probably be several of them) and choose the photos you want to copy to your computer. Select them and drag them to a new folder on your computer.

They will remain on your phone! It's impossible to delete them this way, so once you have them copied to your computer you can delete them from your phone if you want to free up some space for more pics.

If you have iCloud, your pictures should automatically go to your computer. Sign up for it. Turn it on in your phone and on your computer.

for some odd reason my iCloud isn't working and I can't figure out why...... So when I plug my phone into my computer, I go to "my computer" find my iphone, open the file then copy and paste all my pictures to a file I named "iphone pictures".

I can't even tell you the number of times I've seen a parent (usually a Mom) pick up their kids from school and be talking on the phone before the car leaves the parking lot. What ever happened to talking to the kids??? Sad.

When I plug my iPhone cord into the back of the monitor the pictures get placed into iPhoto. Very fast and easy-all at once. You have the option of deleting them from your phone at that time (I keep them) and you can just import the new ones each time after that.
