Bragging about my baby, errrr....cat!

Took Paco in for his annual "wellness" checkup, some bloodwork, nails trimmed, and a couple of vaccinations.

Cats can be a bit scary at the vet, but Paco clearly has the right attitude; "the easier I make it for them, the easier it will be for me ".

He didn't disappear when I brought his carrier into the room, only protested somewhat when I crammed him inside. Funny how they can grow two or three extra arms in order to make it really hard to get them through the little door.

He only yowled in three octaves and not even all of the way to the vet's office! Inside the waiting room, he minded his manners, even when some big ol' smelly dog stuck his nose against the grid.

Inside the examination room, he came out of the carrier on his own, stretched, and submitted to all of poking and prodding, and sticking, purring the whole time! The vet couldn't even truly listen to his heart properly.

Anyway, I just felt the compulsion to brag about my good little boy. :-)

Awww that's awesome!!! He doesn't know any different, and figures everyone is his friend! Hopefully he had a good experience at the vet so that he won't be scared next time.

Most cats are afraid of the kitty carrier because of the association with the vet, but we have to keep our carrier under the end table, opened because the cats love sleeping in it!

Hi Bill, I have all my babies tagged, but because it's so hot here I have to water everyday because they are in such small pots they dry out quickly. My ID system isn't as intricate as yours because alot of my seeds are from unnamed plants. Not to be a smarty pants, but Cindy Moragne # 23 could walk up and slap me in the face and I wouldn't know who she was! LOL Guess I gotta go break my book out now! I label with "pink seeds" or "rainbow seeds" and the date I planted and where they came from. Can you register a new plant if you don't know the parentage? (not that I'm ever gonna be close to doing that!) When I transplant my babies, will the roots get less damage if I water first or if I do it when they are dry? Will probably do that this weekend. Thanks for the info on the fertilizing. I don't think I have been giving them enough! Jerri : )

ok renaruto this may be a case in which you provided way too much info and details about your ex wife to your new girlfriend and now she is using that against you which imo is immature and only shows how insecure she really is, i only say that because this exact situation has happened to me before only thing different is that my son is 5 yo and is unable to keep a cell phone....women can be very good at hiding their true feelings about certain issues to get you to open up to them and disclose unnecessary information and due to their own insecurities will make you the bad guy when all you were doing from the get go is being totally honest ...i do believe that sometimes theres such a thing as being too honest...did you really have to tell your new gf that your ex wife still wants you?... by saying that you set your self up for constant drama and nagging everytime she contacts you whether it is important or not...any way the answer to your problem lies in your heart i made my decision to make my son a priority and had to break up with my previous gf the good thing was that i am now with a woman who understands and supports my decision to be a good father and doesnt question the communication between me and my sons mother it is truly a beautiful feeling to not feel like you have to choose sides between the ones you love if she really loves and respects you she will trust you and leave it all up to you to set boundaries with your ex wife without having to butt in...hope this advice is not too late

I agree with the NOT whipping the furbabies. They don't understand why they are being hit and it only makes them afraid and doesn't TEACH them anything. I understand the frustration owners feel at times but you have to keep your head- correct them and then go to another place and scream or hit something like a pillow. YAY! I know the good feeling of having your pup come back. It makes all of the hours of training and frustration worth it. I am so glad there are so many great pet parents that take time to train. Some people just don't have the patience to deal with them. Keep up the good work!

Our kitty LOVES the carrier! He doesn't like the car. lol

Aww, what a good boy. You must be proud.

I have to take my doggies to the vet on Monday for heartworm tests. My little guy starts crying as soon as we turn the corner. But he stands and behaves himself on the table.

You are lucky. One of mine is very vocal, lecturing the vet and disturbing the other clients if he is ever kept waiting.

You have good reason to be proud. We had one we had to fight to get in the carrier, once we got the carrier in the car, he started to throw up from both ends and blew his coat.

You know we were favorites at the vets when it came his time to go.

Picture cat hair sticky with cat poop floating around inside the car. Picture two people with their heads hanging out the car windows like dogs. Picture X's where our eyes should have been. Picture the reception we got in the waiting room......

Glad your boy behaved so well. We have 3 cats and they all act differently.

Salem the oldest, is the hardest to catch and put in the carrier,because the minute she sees it it is behind our headboard she goes.Then when we do catch her we have to fight with her to get her in. On the way, she has a hair explosion. At the vet's when she is on the table, she sorta lays down and when the vet tries to examine her, everywhere he touches her she yelps as if in pain....

Pepper the middle cat Is retarded. When we get her in the carrier she goes to sleep and is asleep the whole way. Once in the vet's she meows the entire time, hisses at the vet and tries to runaway.l

Jed our baby and only boy puts up a half hearted attempt at protesting going into the carrier. He will meow a few times on the way to the vet;s. Once on the table he is a good boy

My cats behave pretty well at the vet. The vet has an assistant hold them by the scruff of the neck, so they don't move around or bite. But my dog hates the vet, she's so scared she always makes a puddle.

My vet and every technician I've ever seen, but one, have always treated Paco with kindness and love. That one scruffed him and he turned into a snarling wild cat. It was terrifying.

I took him from her and asked that she leave the room. I was able to secure Paco just fine for the rest of the examination and shots. Thankfully, I never saw her again, but was prepared to ask for another assistant if nesessary.
