 o
Another PDN ?

This converting business is proving to be more complicated than I thought. I didn't have Kindle for PC, so I figured out that I needed that b4 Amazon would let me download the free book by Jana De Leon. So, I downloaded Kindle for PC, then Calibre. I then was able to download the free book from Amazon. When I tried to convert the book using Calibre I was told that it was DRMed. So, now it's my understanding that I need another program to unDRM the book. Is the Epubar DRM remover a safe download? I'm assuming it is or you wouldn't have listed it RC. I'm just checking.

I posted this question in the other PDN thread, but that's on the 3rd page already, so I probably won't get an answer there.

oh sorry never saw that yes you can use it there are a couple of different ones out there that do basically the same thing. Many free books do not have DRM but the ones that are just on a special one day freebie probably will have it.

However if you have the kindle for android app on your android device that is not necessary, you sign in with your regular amazon account info so it is exactly the same as if it were on your kindle it shows you purchased that book through amazon so it is fine as it is no worry with removing DRM at all. I personally would try to install the kindle for android app it is so easy to use.

The one thing you have to do is go into your settings and fine where it says allow other sources so you can get the app from some where other than the designated source on that unit. It has been so long since I used my PDN and I do not have it so I can not look up to see what app store was used it might be slide me, if so you should be able to get the kindle app there.

Thanks RC. I knew you'd get back to me once you knew I still needed help. I'm going to try the app directly to my PDN. I thought that getting the Calibre might be the easier solution, turned out not to be. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.

RE: Another PDN ?

I'm doing something wrong. Using the device I went to the Amazon site and searched Kindle for Android and downloaded and installed it. It seems that what I downloaded was the Amazon App Store. When I look for the Kindle for Android in the app everything bit kindle for android comes up

 o
RE: Another PDN ?

Yes you have to install the amazon store app before you can get apps from there. Same with the other app stores like slide me, but I think the pdn after the update has slide me already on it, if so you can get the kindle app there too. I will post a link to it for you.

Here is a link that might be useful: Kindle app

On the PDN, I used the website you provided, it took me to a search page. I clicked on Kindle For Android, the blue and black logo comes up on a page, but there's nowhere to click to download. I checked for the app on Slide Me and couldn't find it. Sorry to be such a pest.

Here's the link to the app at Sam the slide me marketplace.

RE: Another PDN ?

This should be the direct link to the amazon store app for kindle for android
Kindle for Android

you will have to be logged in to your amazon account of course and go there using your PDN then click on where it says to get it now

here you have some other options for stores to get apps
7 Alternative Appstores for Your Android Tablet or eReader

If you have no success on those you might try getting one of the older kindle apps here from freelovers I have seen several reports of success when using one of the older versions, they will be listed down on this page.
Kindle for Android

I was just reading a forum where some people tried one of the version 1.0 versions which did install then were able to update to a newer version in the app once it was installed.

Thanks so much RC. I haven't had time to try the download again. Keep your eye on this thread for my update. I really appreciate your help.

RE: Another PDN ?

Either I'm hopeless or my PDN isn't functioning properly. I found the Kindle App on SlideMe and thought I had finally had it beaten. I downloaded the app, it only took a few secs. I went to Archived Items and a short list of books comes up. When I click on one, a full screen pic of the cover comes up, under that it says "Download Failed" under that there are 2 buttons, try again and cancel. I click on Try Again. The little circle goes around and around, it says "Downloading the selected item. it will automatically open when the download is complete". It goes around forever, nothing ever happ0ens.
