My in-laws lived in Carefree, and they always headed to Sedona in the summer.

gotta say I was in Yuma in Aug. a few summers ago.will NEVER go again in summer... now Jan or Feb. count me in.

I live in Colorado and wouldn't want to live in Arizona.....so it's a preference. Arizona is so desolate, flat and dry. I like visitng anywhere, but I like coming home to Colorado!

I think it's their way of saying they will miss you!

I think they are just teasing you and are probably a bit envious that you have a way to escape the extreme heat of an Arizona summer.

I hibernate in the summer here in Maryland because of the heat and humidity. One DB lives in Las Vegas and visited other DB in Florida (gulf coast) in August and said he'd take the humidity in Florida any day over 115 "dry" degrees in Vegas. Enjoy cool Colorado and don't feel a bit guilty!

No, you are not a wimp! I live in Arizona and love it here, even in the summer. That said, if I had a cottage in Colorado, you bet I would stay there during the summer months!

I'd say you are pretty brainy, and using the cottage you bought makes sense too. You are brainy and have a plan.

Lots of people I know leave TX and go north or to the NM mountains for example for the summer...I don't think they need be jealous or that you are wimps...just a preference and if that's what you want to do, why care if they think you are wimps...they are probably joking with you anyway.

I'm happy to be a wimp as well when I head north from South Florida for the summer. Do not like living in a sauna which I know YOU don't have in Arizona, but it is a reality here. It is far easier to get warm when temps are cool than vice-versa.

I would call that SMART! and they might be jealous, cause you have the option?

You do what's best for you. The last several years we have been Summer birds, not because of the weather here in SE AZ but the weather has been beautiful in the Pacific NW and New England where it is cold in the Winter.

It depends on where in Arizona you live. Now if I lived in Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma or Lake Havasu I would be long gone during the Summer months. There are other parts of Arizona that have nice weather during the Summer.

My "north" (Maryland) really isn't much cooler, but there doesn't seem to be the sauna effect. I swear when I go outside in summer down here in Ft Lauderdale, my glasses steam up! I would LOVE to be in a cabin in Colorado! Now THAT'S a nice place to be!

Surely they're just teasing you. Teasing someone by calling them a wimp is common - in the right context and with the right facial expression. You're not experiencing the people being serious and disdainful, are you?

I wouldn't care what they think. Our neighbor says we are wimps because we winter in FL. This past winter was so horrible in Minnesota, now he says it was his last MN winter.

Not a wimp. I have a friend in Sun City, AZ and he escapes to northern mountains in Utah for the summer.

In Wisconsin, we have snow birds. They migrate with the birds. They spend the winter months in Florida and come back in spring, about May 15th.

They are not wimps; They are fortunate. The remainder of us are jealous.

Sounds like the green-eyed monster to me! They only wish they could escape. *I* would have already departed. Arizona is too hot for me by Mothers Day.

Go north...i've been in AZ in the summer, and the way I describe that dry heat is that it sucks the air out of your skin and lungs like a vaccum cleaner.

They might be a tad envious.. and that's okay...but chances are they are just joshing with you... Go and have a wonderful time..

Red curls...we have friends who live in Ft lauderdale..they've also lived here in Maryland and they SWEAR that lauderdale is no more hot and humid than Maryland in summer.
