All moved in..

And we are still recovering from the quick push..
We have been sleeping in our own beds in our new house since Saturday night.
So we are adjusting.
I want to put color on the walls asap..but..our schedule is just to busy..to take time out for all that.

Thanks for all the good wishes..and happy thoughts..it was a process I am happy to never repeat! :)

And a quick update on the boys for those who wonder.
Kian just turned 22 and has been married for 2 months..still not finding a path..was set to join the Army..(hence the quick marriage leap) but has been putting it off (until the right job opens).

Kellan turned 17 today. He is a Jr in HS now, and we are gearing up for College stuff.

Kamren will be 14 on Sunday. Is 1/2" shorter than his older brothers and growing more every day. He is looking forward to HS next year and joining their State accredited Culinary program.

So really life is quite satisfying right now. I will try and grab some recent photos of them..they don't sit still for long. ;)

Thanks for the updates on the boys. Hard to believe Kian is 22. They are kind of a measure for me as to how long I have been hanging around GW.

I still remember the Kitchen Elf picture. Which one was that.

Much happiness in your new home. You'll be there a long time so no big rush to get everything perfect right away. I've been in mine for 40 years and there are still things that I want to do.

There you are, I'd wondered if you had survived. Congratulations on the move and steps you've taken to get settled.

Go ahead and get comfortable, enjoy your space and you'll find the right time to add some color. You'll have a chance to get used to your rooms in changing light too, have a better idea what you'll be happy with. Hope those boys are pleased with their new digs ;)

I have most of my possessions moved. Its just a matter of getting my fence and dog kennel built, and my plumbing issues squared away. The ex was wanting me moved in this weekend but there's no way. We set all the posts last weekend. Last evening we set the first corner brace and have five more of those to do. Then we can stretch the woven fence, almost 200 feet of it. After that we can put up the 48 feet of privacy fence. Then we can start building my 12x16 ft patio blocked dog kennel. I have a fenced area made for my jugs since the neighbor has three loose dogs; I don't think they'd survive long. I hope its big enough because I'm up to 263 containers and will have more. I will start moving them this weekend too. I have banana boxes to use. I can fit from 6-8 containers or so per box. I want to move them now because I noticed a little mousey by the building where near over half my containers are and when I pulled out a bachelor buttons container to take photos of the sprouts, there was little grey mouse hairs in the opening :*( so he may have gotten a nice buffet dinner of seeds over the winter. I thought I had gotten all the mice but I guess not.

Fixing bare(ing) spots

I spread some compost where i saw bareing spots. Initially weeds shot up where ever the compost was. I did nothing and they eventually lessened. I want to see how much thicker grass will do. Walking through the yard the other day i got dismayed at how much better it looked last year when i bought it. Granted, the grass is starting to green, but not yet grow. I did put down some alfalfa pellets a few weeks back on one of the Federal holidays. I think i read somewhere that it may take a season or two when you switch to organic for really good effects. True? it just rained. I wouldn't call it a downpour by any means; about 0.3" in last hour and change. These are the pics. Do i have an issue? i plan (still) to Logan Labs my soil soon. I also plan to do a jar test, but in all ignorance, I'm not sure what it tests or tells me.

Might kind of depend... How old is the place? The air system- as in the furnace/filters and AC if you got one. Do you have any reasonable expectation that the previous owners cleaned the ducts at all? And how long has it been since the system has been run- if it's been shut off prior to your getting your new home. Do you think you might want to paint the place, or it needs freshing up? Does anyone have allergies to cats or dogs? Duct cleaning is often something overlooked. If there's smells of anything, cleaning whatever dust/fur that might be built up in the ducts can help. If you tend not to run central air much, or it hasn't been on.. might have been a while since the furnace has been fired up, or the furnace heat might make otherwise less noticeable duct smells come out. If you want to paint/freshen up, it's better to have the ducts cleaned and your air system checked/filters replaced before doing so. If you are putting effort like scrubbing floors, washing carpets, and cleaning walls and ceilings into the cleaning prior to moving- then yep, getting the ducts cleaned too is worth it IMO.

I totally agree with morz8! spring light might be not intense enough for certain colors...my dd found that out the hard way..she chose a lovely (in the am) peach and by the time this sun hit the room it turned a pink that wasn't pretty at all! drove her crazy tying to find drapes, ect..ended up doing cream to match the off white trim...not her first choice...

what I would do is start your baggie goodies...snips of your furniture (look inside for a seam, it doesn't take much) flooring, ect. keep the baggie in the car and add as you find thing...remember to check everything outside the store for true colors...

I have been so out of pocket the last few months....or is that many??.... I didn't know you were moving...Congrats on your new abode,,,, Like the others... it is hard to believe the boys have grown so.....

It sure sounds like life is kind to you,,, so happy to hear that... .

Pam, the Pantry Elf...ah..that was Kamren..from when we went through the remodel at my mom's house...like 9-10 years ago...lol

He is no elf any more..okay cute as a button...but legs as long as I am tall.

It's hard to believe your boys are so grown up now. Seems like just yesterday you were posting pics of little boys. Congrats on the new home...enjoy every minute of making it yours.

I bet you're really happy to have the move behind you. Every time I think about how nice it will be to be close to daughter and sisters again, I cringe when I think about having to pack up and move. I've been getting rid of stuff and donating so I won't have too much--hopefully.

Wish you were closer--I have tons of those paint color samples from Lowes and HD. Every color under the sun, I think!!

Congrats! Now kick back and enjoy your new home, at least for awhile. Then tackle those projects. How exciting. A ton of work for sure, but so exciting.

Can't wait to see pics of the boys and the new home.
