EXCELLENT!! The long awaited Caribbean escape is now over, and boy did that do the trick to help clear the mind. Some overwhelming things called life had gotten in the way, and a chance to do absolutely nothing was most welcome. A fabulous sandy beach, perfectly warm sunny skies to produce a dark golden bronze tan, ample food, friendly people from around the world, and a bartender who had the Margarita set out by the time I got to the bar. The ridiculous cheap price for an all-inclusive had me concerned, but it turned out to be a gem in disguise. Hopefully such an adventure will continue to provide a new outlook on living under certain circumstances. The return trip had goofy delays, and I didn't get home til 4am Friday morning. Oh well, eat, change clothes and head to work, making for a long 40 hour day. Ugh, back to reality. And a frigid 40 degrees! Guess there will be no hitting the beach this weekend. Vacation laundry is done, 3 shirts, pair of shorts & socks, and a bathing suit. Now to get mail and go buy milk. Dumb grass needs mowing. Phooey, no buffet selections in the kitchen either. But do have a bottle of Tequilla handy. Cheers from Indiana.

I put out hulled,chopped sunflower seed. Costlier but it removes the toxic hulls and there is less loss of seed because the birds can swallow the smaller pieces. Thus, less rodent attracting seed on the ground. It is the only seed that seems to attract the bluebirds to the feeder here. I imagine you have a very wide variety of natives and migrating birds. You live in my favorite part of USA. Planting tall perennials with persistent seedheads attracts the gymnastic finches and other smaller birds which are fun to watch.

The Sweethearts I've ordered from Lychees.com and also the ones I tasted from Phase's tree are completely different from Hak Ip. Like mango kush stated, both the Sweethearts from Lycheesonline and also from Phase's tree were were mostly just under golfball sized and there were quite a few that were golfball sized and larger. You can see in my old post where I have some Sweethearts next to a golfball. My Sweetheart's leaves are average green color and are pretty large. Hak Ip leaves, especially some of the tree's at Ong's Nursery aver very very dark green and the fruit of Hak Ip are way smaller. I've also noticed that Sweethearts have a majority of chicken tongue seeds, I would say about 95% very small or chicken tongue seeds. I wonder if some nurseries may have received specimens that were misslabeled, grew up the trees and made their own air layers and then sold the air layers. Another nursery could have purchased some of these misslabled air layers and then the confusion spreads. This is a great thread and its good we are all discussing our observations. Simon

dlm--sorry to hear of your brother's health misfortune. I hope you are able to enjoy a spa vacation soon. I think perhaps you are right about the comfort factor--sticking with what you know. The lady that I befriended at Red Mountain had been there, along with another lady I met, back in the late 90s when it truly was a weight loss facility and food was carefully rationed. I like the variety of activities, the hikes, food, and quiet atmosphere at Red Mountain. If you want to sit by the pool all day and read or have massages and facials you can; if you want to hike at 7 am and exercise all day long in classes, whitewater raft, horseback ride, take classes--it's all up to you. The food is healthy but very good and beautifully presented. If I ever rent a vehicle instead of taking the shuttle to Red Mountain I will check out Green Valley. Right now a friend and I are considering Mll Amo Spa at the Enchantment Resort at Sedona. I've been to Sedona but not this resort. Every woman I think deserves such an experience at some time!

Wow--sounds good!! (Except for the long 40-hour day part.) I had a margarita on Sunday--my first in decades. It was great, and I guarantee it will not be decades before I have another.

You'll have to tell us where you got the cheap, all-inclusive price!

So good that the vaca met more than your expectations. Sounds like it's just what you wanted. If only we could live in our vacation areas but reality check time. You sound like a refresher worked wonders.

You sound GREAT! So glad you could get away and revive. (Now don't go overboard with work and wear the New You to a frazzle.)

Quit complaining about our weather. You know it's not good until after we've had a rotten Memorial Day holiday. LOL

Thanks for thinking of sand in the toes, bright warm sun, and refreshing Tequilla. I was shopping several online sites and several locations, changing dates and length of stay makes a difference in trying to save money. The effort paid off when Apple popped up a deal of 10 days for $1K in the Dominican Republic on beautiful Bavaro Beach. It was an excellent investment.
YaYa, I do 'vacation' right here at home for 3 months, on a perfect beach.

That does sound like an excellent deal! I don't know about the dozen margaritas, though . . . it's a wonder you could still see the pool. :-)
