What a beautiful story. I'm sure it must have been so meaningful to your daughter who has gone through so much. It sounds like she's on a real good path right now. You must be so proud of her getting her life back together.

I love stories like this. Money going directly for a cause. I am always hesitate about donating to this and that because you don't really know how much of your money is going for the actual cause.

I am sure your daughter will one day pay this kindness forward.

Georgsmom, you are so right. I am immensely proud of her. She has been clean and sober for 2.5 years. She has her own small apartment, is taking on line classes through her local community college and works every shift that she can. I know it is one day at a time but having her healthy and happy means more to me than anything.

This is so very wonderful to read, Satine! I've often wondered how your dear daughter is doing but didn't want to keep pestering you. She couldn't be better!! I'm really thrilled to know she is doing so well and taking care of herself financially, to boot. You're right in that it's always 'one day at a time,' but how very, very proud of her you must be. I'm glad she got such a great surprise from an angel. :)

I remember the place your daughter was in and the heartbreak you went through years ago with her. I am so happy to hear she is on the right track and you can smile knowing she is doing better. It is a HUGE accomplishment to go from where she was to where she is today, clean and sober.

Yes, there are some nice people/angels out there who really care. I'm glad your daughter got to experience this, and someday, she may be able to pay it forward when she is in a better financial place. Actions like this are always remembered, and, she will tell this story (probably) forever.

First, I am just thrilled to read that your daughter has been on the right track for 2 and a half years. That in itself is a blessing. Second, God does work in mysterious ways and what that lady did to help your daughter just confirms my beliefs that there are still a lot of wonderful, good people in this world of ours.

I also remember your struggles when your DD was using. I had just assumed this was your other DD and had no idea that she was clean and sober. What a wonderful story. Just goes to show there are good people out there.

Perhaps your daughters "angel" was paying it forward through an experience of her own. It would be cool to think that your daughter is part of that chain and the thing is, is that it doesn't have to be a big thing to be a part of that chain.

I have been wondering how your troubled daughter was doing, but was somewhat reluctant to ask, and am really pleased to hear that she has been turning her life around in such a major way.

Use your own discretion as to how much you tell her of the thankfulness that many of your friends here are feeling that she has made/is making these improvements.

Just a quick background- - -my daughter lost her Dad when she was 12 while they were on a school trip together. Although she had much counseling and therapy she just couldn't deal with it. Started using and continued slowly getting in deeper and deeper. Gave her an ultimatum when she was 18-clean up or move out. She moved out and within a year was living on the streets of DC. When she hit rock bottom and I got a call from the hospital telling me she might not make it I wanted to die along with her. After two months in the hospital I again gave her an ultimatum-rehab or loose her family. She choose rehab.$50,000 and two months later she moved to a halfway house, then went into sober living and has moved up and up and up. She is reconnected to her family and is the kind, funny, thoughtful girl she always was. Thank you for "listening". Satine

I continually look for situations to bless people; sometimes it's just a little giftie. I'd LOVE to bless someone so richly like that woman did to your daughter. That angel will never know, she did more than just buy a tire. She just may have been the catalyst to change your daughter's life forever. I'm so happy for both your daughter and you. I can only try to imagine how devastating it must have been for you to watch her and be so helpless. Tough love worked a miracle.
