Another ebay question

I have been selling a few things on ebay lately. Printing the shipping label has been super easy using USPS. This last item I sold isn't so easy. It takes me to my paypal acct and wants me to ship UPS and to set up an account, put the invoice number in and on and on. Why won't it take me to the US post office where I can pay and print without any hassels? Help!! I think I'm just going to take the item to the PO, which is a bummer. What am I doing wrong?

I haven't had that experience. When you go to your list of Sold items in My eBay, are you clicking on Print shipping label at the far right of the item?

When I do that, I always get eBay's shipping. Same discount as printing a label via USPS online, but better because tracking is free. I've never been referred to UPS, although I do have an account with them. (I hardly ever use it, because FedEx is cheaper.)

Is the item in question especially heavy?

I click on "send invoice" and it takes me to paypal, where I have to sign in. Then the only option for shipping is UPS, and I have to add a bunch of information like invoice #, etc. I have no idea why this is happening. I printed out a shipping label just Sunday, paying for my postage on line and had the mailman pick the package up at my home. I guess I will just hand write out the buyer's address and take it to the post office, but it is a real pain and I don't know why it is happening. I am very frustrated and won't sell on ebay if this continues.

Right now is a bad time to ship anywhere. With the terrible cold temps. I haven't had any problems with Ebay and the people I buy from. They include heat packs and pack well. I don't know who you bought your stanhope from. Did they have a good rating? You can write a note to them to wait off on shipping till after the holidays. If the plant sat in a post office for a few days or more, I presume the post office is heated. It seems that the plant wasn't packed well at all. It should of been okay, unless it was exposed to the cold outside for too long a period. I would still try to resolve the issue with the seller. Or leave a negative feedback. Now ebay does not allow retaliation feedbacks against you.

If you add it to your "watch" list, you will be able to see the time left for the listing. It really is small in size, isn't it?. Why didn't I think of that?? (Because I have the KT, and I'm spoiled.) Yes, it's awfully small, and faded, I'm sure. It would be nice to have, but for not very much money. I have some similar memorabilia of his. I have no idea what "lg" means. Certainly not "large." LOL I found it because I have a standing search request on eBay for any items that contain the word Luckstone, and also one for "Alice Campbell," my grandmother (his wife) and also an opera singer. A different Alice Campbell was a novelist from around the time time period, so unfortunately I get notifications whenever her books are listed on eBay. But no big deal. I bought another picture of my grandfather on eBay--not his most flattering, but an interesting photo. I also found a listing that claimed to be selling a photo of Harry Luckstone, but it wasn't him. I wrote to the seller, who ignored me. ;-)

It's easy . . . Go to your Paypal account and click on Withdraw, then Transfer to Bank Account. Just follow the steps in the form.

Red, I didn't see your response. Yes it seems a lot of people do like the Priority shipments. I just don't need to pay more to have things here fast. Shipping fees are a drag as it is! I bought from the UK quite a bit a few years ago and they would always ship air, understandably I guess because of the slowness otherwise, and the possibility of things getting lost in a winding transit. But, it was quite a bit more expensive, so I'd go parcel post most of the time. Usually didn't take all that long. Added to insuring items, it just really adds up. And when you haven't even seen the item firsthand, well, it's just a lot of money on extras. Yes, it does look like some of her buyers have noticed the post on the package is quite a bit lower than what they were charged. So she may have thought I was questioning her too. Well, I have no control over her packaging and handling charges, but can request slow mail and no insurance! :) And dang! I did manage to get old. I'm not sure when that happened!

I assume the buyer has paid, or you wouldn't be shipping. If that's true, you don't need to send him an invoice, right?

Try clicking on Print Shipping Label instead, and see what happens.

I almost always mail packages from my home. I have a big mailbox, so it's a rare package that has to go to the PO. Because we're rural, I can put money in the mailbox with the package, and the PO will take care of the postage. I do this for books, when it doesn't cost less to pay eBay instead.

Tried all that, still logs into paypal and the only shipping option is UPS. It would cost me 10.00 to ship with the post office, and 16.00 with UPS. Hope this is not a new way for ebay to scam more money for fees!

It is puzzling. However, some items must be sent ground, they can't go by air, some items can't go through USPS.
If you sell regularly and this issue is frustrating you, why not take a minute and call Ebay and find out the reason this is happening?

I'd surely let eBay know the problem I`m having ... and of the solutions under consideration ... that doesn`t include them.

If you can contact them ... and with a number of major agencies, that ain`t easy!

I can think of only two possibilities: One, perhaps your buyer is a commercial dealer who is calling the shots (or trying to) about how the item is shipped. The other concerns package content. Does your item contain any materials that could be considered hazardous? As Lucille said, some things can't be shipped via USPS. UPS and FedEx will take them, though.

As I said, I sell fairly regularly on eBay, and I've never encountered what you're experiencing.
