oh that is bad you have some very serious infections there. Yes that would be your problem for sure. I am going to give you the link to another forum you will have to go to so we can help you run some other scans to fully clean up your computer, we will take it step by step so don't get worried, just stop and ask if you have any questions ok. go to this link, register there, you will have to wait for a reply back, then go to this area for Malware removal and start your own post there or if you prefer I can start if for you. DH laid it in the back floor of the car and then forgot about it. He moved the seat back and squished it (the screen was against the seat and the actual computer part was "possibly" protected since the screen was between it and the seat. I may just have to invest in a hard side case instead of a soft side one. So far I have gotten everything off- still need to dig out the internet bookmarks. I am actually using it right now to send this. The right side of the screen scrolls very quickly by itself (think old B/W TVs where you had to adjust the connected rabbit ears) then there is a giant white section and then the left 1/3 of the screen works but has black sports the size of a silver dollar. I just ran my statistical software and the analysis is coming out like it did this morning. This is a snapshot of the laptop screen (I added the red square to show that is supposed to be my desktop. When I do an "Alt+PrtSc" and save it as a picture, I get the whole desktop (hope I do not offend anyone with my pic, it is from LOL-Cat and so cute!) I just used my level and it appears to NOT be warped... tried it on the desk and the floor because the house and desk are both over 100 years old and not that level, themselves... but the button in the level appears to be in the same spot where it is sitting directly on the desk or on the laptop sitting on the desk. Since the alt-print screen show everything and the software appears to be working, am I fairly safe that the computer is okay? What else should I do to check the hard drive? THANK YOU!!!!

I'm sorry for taking so long to get back to you, Raven. And may I second Lily's nickname for you?? I've been trying everything I can find online and what you have given me, to no avail. Hubby can usually figure these things out eventually, but he's particularly busy at work these days and fighting a virus as well, so I thought I'd try to do this "myself." :) We are getting Yahoo and Apple mail now, but I sure do like the layout and workings of Entourage much better. The cause might be the speed of your connection. I experienced the same with a slow speed dial-up connection, but see much improvement when I switch to a DSL connection. What happens: The page has not fully loaded when you attempt to scroll down. The scrolling operation stalls for a bit while the page continues to load. However, a certain number of your scroll-down characters have been cached in the keyboard buffer, and when more of the page is available, the computer suddently acts on the characters in the buffer and the page jumps down. This phenomonem has become more prevalent as the internet matured over the past 5 years. Way back when slow speed connections were the norm, programmers used care not to load a page with a lot of graphics to aid in the speed of loading the page. or offered an option of "text only" pages. Nowadays, no heed is paid to this and pages have become intensive with content. The view has become, if you have a slow speed connection - tough luck - live with it or upgrade. Snobbery - yes, but there is a ligitiment demand to have pages with lots of content and graphics.
