I mentioned Maria Tallchief''s name on Facebook just 10 days ago when I posted a picture of my cousin and myself in ballet costumes. Maria was my ballet idol when I was a child. I saw her dance Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

More sad news. She was my hero growing up, I took ballet and tap lessons.

Only two "Moon's" left. Sad.

Moons?

She was one of the 5 Moons of Oklahoma. There were 5 native americans who were outstanding ballerinas, Maria & her sister being 2 of them. They're famous here in OK.

No link! I'm waiting...... ;-)

I did read about the five ballerinas when I read Maria's obituary, but I didn't know they were called Moons. I don't recall her sister Marjorie, but I was just a child when I idolized Maria at the New York City Ballet.
