There are plenty of meetup groups in every city and many local towns. Just do a search on "meetups near ** ".

** indicated your city or town. There are all kinds of groups and you can glance through them all until you find some that interest you. For instance, there are groups for book lovers, artists, spirituality, hiking, adventure seekers, astronomy, games, movies, wine, women 50+, bikers, just to name a few. Once you find one or more, you will have to register on the meetup site. This is a great way to meet new people if you are open to it and it sounds like you are.

You can also do volunteer work which is a way of giving back and meeting new people.
