So Calif KT Get-together

I was thinking ... something that often gets me in trouble ... LOL ... that I'd love to host a Southern California KT get-together some time in the next few months.

Just to give you an idea where I live ...
We're in Irvine, which is in Orange County, five miles from the John Wayne airport. Five or so miles from Newport and Laguna Beaches. 15 miles from Disneyland. 45 miles south of the LA airport and Los Angeles. 100 miles north of San Diego and a 100 miles west of Palm Springs. A five hour or so drive to Las Vegas. Seven hours south of San Francisco. Lots to do in the area.

To save a ton of money and a lot of hassle (I'm not a good event planner), I'd like to host it at my home ... problem is, my home and yard are impossibly small ... but I'd still like to try. I can probably fit (comfortably) about 20 people. We've had up to 40 for a birthday party but it was a bit tight.

Also, I have one guest room so would probably have a lottery to see who gets to help me set up the party. :-)

Can I have a show of hands how many people are interested and what a good month would be to do this?

And also, any locals willing to help me pull this together???

I would love to get together but it is too far to drive......I could do Santa Barbara.
I remember the time we got together in Ventura at Joni's house.
Loved seeing you and the others.
Is there a train station nearby?

If you had asked me in June, I could have come. We have relatives in Dana Point, and spent a week at the motel at the marina

We had a really nice time, but it's always over way too soon. That Carol cracks me up every time we get together. It's a good thing I don't have to sit beside her in church or we'd get in so much trouble! I was really happy to meet Joann and her DH and I apologize to her right now for forgetting it was her birthday. I'm so sorry we didn't sing "Happy Birthday" to you, Joann. But it must've been your lucky day :-) Nita's cousin, Tim isreally interesting and while the guys were talking, it turned out that Harry was a teacher at the same high school Tim attended. Harry was teaching chemistry at the time so their paths didn't cross, but it proves it really is a small world. Lunch was roasted turkey breast, potato casserole, green beans, blueberry salad and rolls. Joann brought homemade red velvet cupcakes (Harry's favorite) and I made bread pudding with whiskey sauce. We mainly just yakked the afternoon away. I had a wonderful time. It's always a good time when Nita comes. I don't know about them, but I know I'm not going to be wanting any dinner tonight. Someone will post pictures, I'm sure. I got my camera out and ready to go, but when I looked for it this morning it had suddenly disappeared. I don't know where that sucker is. I need to learn how to post pictures and was going to use today as a starting point. Sorry!

Joann, in Iowa, at Sandy's, we had a husband upset, cause there was no pool at the hotel. Thus, we bought that pool in that picture, and sat around it, with our feet in it. I should have given Laurie credit for the last three photos. After 25+ years of parties at our house, Memorial Day Laurie realized I probably was not in too many pictures since the camera is always in my hands, so she took charge and snapped some awesome pics in May. She offered to do the same at the KT get-together and did a great job. Thanks Laurie! Fun2BHere ... Mr. Jodi also goes by Mark but I think I'll call him Mr. Jodi from now on. :-) For those who don't following me on Facebook...I've been having computer problems for a few weeks. It all came to a boiling plate this week and I had to do a complete factory restore on Friday. I now have no, none, zero, nada personal files currently on my computer with the exception of Saturday's KT get-together pics. Tomorrow, I start rebuilding my laptop life. Jodi-

Carol, there is a beautiful train station here in Irvine about two miles from my home.

I don't drive freeways so I'm hoping to get something going locally. I drove up to Joni's and to the Bakersfield KT get-together with Joy_SoCal because of my freeway driving issues.

I'd love to come...depending on the date. For some reason, March, April and May have been/are already really busy. I can always pick someone up at the train station if needed, as it is in between my and Jodi's homes.

June would probably be a good month. Not too hot and so far no travels planned.

I wish Gravey and I could come, but I'm kind of home-bound right now because of parents' health issues. I hope this works out for you, Auntie Jodi, and I am very jealous of everyone who does get to come!

Jodi, we won't be home until the end of July. Wish I could be there as we have talked about having a Southern CA get together for a long time. Hopefully it won't be years before there is another one so I can attend.

Well darn you both Flamey and Gravey, though I doubt Gravey will lose any sleep over it. :-) But who's gonna make margaritas now???

Nita, I figure I'll have the get-together now and when you finally do make an appearance in CA, it will just be reason for celebration once again. You know even though the Bakersfield gathering was, what, 10-12 years ago? My hubby still tells people about Nita, the lady who rides a pretty trike around the country. I had to let him down gently not too long ago and break the news to him that you are driving an RV now. :-)

The first Bakersfield gathering started off with just FrancEs, Pat Lavender and me wanting to get together for lunch and when I posted that here it just grew. Nita brought another Pat who lived in the desert, Carol came from the coast and some of you from SoCal, another from Fresno. We had 2 or 3 of those gatherings and I sure miss them.
I was hoping to drive out to CA this summer but just found out I have a family reunion planned there for 2014 so I will wait till then.
