at my brother's cabin, north of Mille Lacs Lake.
Hope this all melts before we get home next week!

Wow.....we had a spring almost like that many years ago, and the melt resulted in floods. It's the reason my freezer in the basement is still sitting on concrete blocks. Hope that doesn't happen to you.

Oh - and we're supposed to get 6 more inches or so tonight.....the winter that never ends.....

In my garden, the stuck leaf tips happened too. I thus have some which emerged with the tips missing or damaged, some puckered as the leaf grew but the tip was stuck together. My Tokudama Aureonebulosa is stuck, but no pips other than a green crown. Then the Lakeside Black Satin.....well, I gave up on it growing, so I ordered a replacement. HA! The replacement is at the same stage, so I'll see which one emerges first. I just love that hosta. There are others which are slow developing, but they have emerged at least. Even the new guys which came as crowns with no growth, now have short eyes less than a week after potting them up. Actually, I am tipping the slow ones out of a pot and checking the bottoms. Good drainage is a prime issue with me, since I was a beginner last year as I potted things up, and made mistakes. Of the ones not damaged by the squirrels, and which are reluctant growers, most were victims of my inexperience. Hopefully I intervened in time to save them.

We're south of Deerwood, so I'm looking at the same type of landscape! I feel sorry for the snowbirds who are coming back to MN thinking they'll start their gardens and rake the yard, and see if we've had ice-out yet. Ugh!

We are two of those snowbirds, but family trumps weather. Guess we will be bundling up!

Well, I am sure no one wants a fast melt and the floods that come with it. So glad we moved to get away from the extremes of the seasons. I don't miss mosquitoes either.
