I'm sorry to hear that! I hope you're taking an anti-viral, not an antibiotic. It's probably the anti-viral, which should help. Glad you got the shot....

I had hoped the vaccine would keep you from getting shingles . I had a horrible case a few years ago before I turned 60. Back then they would not give you the shot until you were 60. Then I had to wait a whole year after the outbreak. Mine was on my chest right where bra rubbed. Very painful. I feel for you Phyllis for having it near your eye. I would imagine it is quite painful. Feel better soon.

Oh Phyllis, I am so sorry your are suffering with this terrible virus. I've had shingles myself, before getting the shot. Is was no fun at all.

Get rest, drink water, take your meds, and try to find something - movies, reading, whatever - to try to keep you mind off of the discomfort.

I hope you bounce back quickly.

I also got the shingles just last month and a couple of years after I had the shot. If I had it all to do over, I'd still get the shot, even tho it's only 50% effective. If what I had was a lesser case because of the vaccine and getting into the doctor early for the anti-viral meds, I would HATE to see a bad case. I had a backache for bout 4 or 5 days, right at the kidney, then the rash. My rash/pain was wrapped around my waist and to my stomach. Made wearing clothes very painful!

Usually, if you get an anti-herpes med going within 72 hours it shouldn't be too bad. It will still take weeks to clear up. Did your MD remind you to stay away from very young children and pregnant women?

Were you under some extra stress recently? (That's how I got shingles some years ago.)

Yes, it is the anti-viral that I'm taking, not antibiotic! I went on-line to scope out shingles, and why I got it, etc. Just my age, I guess, as I've had no stress. Woke up with a terrific headache this morning, which dr. had said was possible. I don't get them very often, and it has subsided somewhat now. I don't feel ill....just sort of loopy. Thanks for the good thoughts.

That's what my ex swears by. I was so confused when he came home with them, but he says it cuts the episode length of time way down.

I got shingles 2 years ago. Still have pain.

I had them too,from bra strap at the back and wrapped around to the right breast

the only thing that worked for me at that time was homeopathy-unfortunately,they left my spine in that bra area crippled......good luck with yours

I had Shingles a few years ago: it struck my left leg, but I had pain in my leg, and when the doctor wanted to give me a shot of cortisone in my left thigh, he found the early rash, just pink at that time. He put me on the anitviral meds immediately and my rash never turned into blisters. However, the pain lasted 7 weeks. A year later, I took the Shingles shot and hope it neve returns.

Sorry to hear this. I had them years ago and it was the worst pain I've ever had. I had the vaccine a couple of months ago. Hope you'll be well again real soon.

Phyllis -- Do you have other odd symptoms? I don't think headache is common with shingles, but what do I know? Mine were *near* but not in my eye -- forehead mostly.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this, Phyllis. I had a case ten-ish years ago and as soon as the rash came out I dashed to the doctor. I was lucky that I ended up with a very mild case and was right as rain in a week or two.
