I can't wait to try this Popeye Chicken Biscuit Recipe...please share your fav!

Popeye`s Biscuits (Copycat)

4 cups Bisquick baking mix

3/4 cup 7-Up or Sprite

8 ounces sour cream

1/4 cup butter

Blend Bisquick mix, sour cream and 7-Up together. Melt butter in a pan. Roll out the biscuits and dip them in the melted butter. Place biscuits in a pan and pour the remaining butter over them. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes.

CRACKER BARREL FRIED APPLES

6 large tart green Granny Smith apples
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/4 C. bacon drippings
1/4 C. brown sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
Dash of ground nutmeg

In a large skillet, melt bacon drippings. Pour apples evenly into the
skillet. Sprinkle with lemon juice, brown sugar and salt. Cover and cook
over low heat for 15 minutes, until apples are tender and juicy. Sprinkle
with cinnamon and nutmeg.

BERBER CHICKEN AND TOMATO SALAD (source: "The Grains Cookbook" by Bert Greene) A recipe from Morocco. 1 c. bulgur 1 c. chopped, seeded, peeled tomatoes (about 2 medium) 2 c. boneless skinless cooked chicken pieces 3 T. chopped fresh basil 1 t. chopped fresh mint 2 cloves garlic, minced 1/3 c. olive oil 3 T. red wine vinegar salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste chopped fresh parsley, for garnish 1. Cook the bulgur in a large pot of boiling salted water until tender, 20-25 minutes. Drain, and set aside to cool. 2. In a large bowl, combine the cooled bulgur, tomatoes, chicken, basil, mint, and garlic. Lightly toss, then add the oil, vinegar, and salt and pepper. Sprinkle with parsley. Serves 4-6. BULGUR\-STUFFED TOMATOES (source: "The Grains Cookbook" by Bert Greene) 4 ripe medium tomatoes 1/4 c. strong homemade chicken stock 2 T. olive oil 1 medium onion, finely chopped 1 lg. clove garlic, minced 1 t. sugar 1/2 c. bulgur 1 t. chopped fresh basil, or 1/2 t. dried 1/2 t. chopped fresh thyme, or 1/4 t. dried 1/2 t. salt 1/4 t. freshly ground black pepper 1/8 t. hot pepper sauce 2 T. freshly grated Parmesan cheese 1\. Slice the top off the tomatoes and scoop out the interiors with a spoon, leaving about 1/4\-inch thick walls. Turn the scooped\-out tomatoes upside down on paper towels to drain. Place the tomato pulp and seeds in the container of a food processor or blender, and process until smooth. You should have about 1\-1/4 cups liquid. Add enough chicken stock to make 1\-1/2 cups total liquid. 2\. Heat the oil in a medium\-size saucepan over medium\-low heat. Add the onion; cook 1 minute. Add the garlic; cook 3 minutes longer. Stir in the tomato mixture and add the sugar, bulgur, basil, thyme, salt, pepper, and hot pepper sauce. Heat to boiling. Then reduce the heat and cook, covered, over low heat until the bulgur is tender and all the liquid has been absorbed, 20\-25 minutes. (Remove the cover and continue to cook if the mixture seems too wet.) Turn off the heat and let the pan stand, covered, for 10 minutes. 3\. Stuff the bulgur mixture into the tomato shells, mounding it high. Sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese. Place under a preheated broiler and cook until the tops are golden and the tomatoes are warmed through, about 5 minutes. Serves 4 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BULGUR SLAW (source: "The New Book of Whole Grains" by Marlene Anne Bumgarner) 1 small head of cabbage 1 small green bell pepper 1 small onion 1 carrot 1/2 c. bulgur (or cracked wheat, soaked overnight 1 c. sour cream or yogurt 1 t. onion, finely minced 1 t. salt 1/4 t. pepper 1/2 t. caraway or celery seed Shred cabbage, finely chop pepper, onion, and carrot. Rinse, drain, and refrigerate until ready to serve. Meanwhile, stir together sour cream, minced onion, and stir in dressing. The toasted taste of bulgur is best for this recipe, but cracked wheat or triticale may be substituted with satisfactory results. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VEGETABLE PILAF (source: "The New Book of Whole Grains" by Marlene Anne Bumgarner) 1 T. vegetable oil 1 onion, chopped 1 celery stalk, chopped 1 carrot, chopped 1/4 pound mushrooms, sliced 1 c. bulgur or cracked wheat 1/4 c. pumpkin, sunflower, or sesame seeds 1 T. fresh parsley or 1 t. dried 1 t. salt 2 c. vegetable or meat stock Saute onion, celery, carrot, and mushrooms in oil until tender. Add bulgur and seeds, stirring until grain is slightly browned. Sprinkle with parsley and salt and add stock, stirring until combined. Got all these from the cooking forum and they are favorites! Made the spinach salad from Ann for a luncheon, it was a very big hit! Vittorio's Spinach Salad from Ann T Vittorio's was a restaurant in Toronto that we use to go to years ago. Salad isn't something that I would usually order but I loved his. This is my recreation of his recipe. Salad: Washed and dried baby spinach 4 hard boiled eggs, peeled 4 or 5 cleaned mushrooms, sliced 1 can of artichoke hearts halved or quartered 3 Roma tomatoes, quartered 2 chopped green onions Kalamata olives Dressing: 1/4 teaspoon tarragon 1/2 clove of garlic 2 or 3 tablespoons wine vinegar 1/2 cup homemade mayo or Hellmans salt and pepper Place spinach in a large salad bowl. Decorate with eggs, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, tomatoes and green onions and olives. Drizzle with dressing and toss. Can be made on individual plates as well. Dressing: Soak tarragon and garlic in vinegar. Add salt to dissolve. Mix vinegar mixture into mayonnaise and adjust seasoning to taste. ------------------------------------------- Nancy's "55" Salad Dressing (wizardnm) 1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic 1 teaspoon dry mustard 1/4 cup vinegar 1/4 cup water 2 teaspoons salt 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper 1/4 teaspoon cracked black pepper 1/2 teaspoon celery seed (optional) 1 cup vegetable oil Combine garlic, dry mustard, vinegar and water in a food processor or blender. Pulse to combine. Add salt, sugar, peppers, and celery seed (if using) With processor or blender running, SLOWLY add vegetable oil in a thin stream. After oil is added, continue to process another 3 minutes. --------------------------------------------------------- Creamy Roquefort Dressing (mqmoi) 1/2 cup mayonnaise 1 large shallot, minced 1 tablespoon Sherry wine vinegar 1 large garlic clove, minced 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard 1/3 cup crumbled Roquefort cheese 3 tablespoons whipping cream Whisk first 5 ingredients in small bowl to blend. Fold in Roquefort cheese and cream. Season dressing to taste with salt and pepper. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate.)

I've made this one before and I like it. Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing Ingredients: 2 cups Sour Cream 1 1/2 cups Mayo 1 cup Buttermilk 3 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar 3 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce 2 Tbsp Dried Chives 1.5 Tbsp Fresh Garlic, Minced or Grated 1.5 Tbsp Dill Weed 1 Tbsp Dried Parsley 1 tsp Dried Basil 1 tsp Ground Mustard (prepared yellow or dijon is fine, too) 1 tsp Garlic Powder 1 tsp Onion Powder 1/2 tsp Dried Oregano 1/2 tsp Sea Salt 1/2 tsp Fresh Cracked Black Pepper What to Do: In a large bowl, whisk together all of the ingredients until thoroughly combined. Taste & Season to your liking!!! Sometimes I add a little more dill, a little more garlic, a little more chives… Fresh herbs can also be used. If you have an herb garden, go for it. Dried herbs are cheaper and still very tasty! And you probably have all of them in your pantry anyway. If you want a thicker consistency, reduce the buttermilk to 1/2 cup and add another 1/2 cup of sour cream Transfer to Mason Jars & Refrigerate for a few hours for the best flavor

I tried to copy the best of the dude's chowhound info here: Ingredients: Ceresota AP - 95% - 175g Semolina - 5% - 10g Water - 46% - 85g Corn Oil - 19% - 35g Olive Oil- 4% - 7g Salt - less than 1/8 tsp Sugar - 1/4 tsp IDY - 1/4 tsp (Instant Dry Yeast) Tomatoes: I have 3 components to my tomatoes (sauce, crushed, and bigger chunks). The move has been ground breaking. You want to make sure all the water is out before applying to your deep dish though. This will probably require removing the excess "water" liquid 2-3 times. I also lightly season with salt and oregano. The buttery taste comes from corn oil. The correct recipe for authentic Chicago deep dish pizza depends on two factors: lots of Corn oil (3 Tablespoons:1 cup all-purpose flour) and a very short knead (mix 1 minute, knead 2 minutes). Then a long rise (4-6 hours at rom temperature). Use butter flavored Crisco in the pan. Here is the process. I use a bowl, whisk for dry ingredients and a spoon. Mix all dry ingredients minus the yeast. Add oil and mix in halfway with spoon then add in the water. (Helps to achieve flaking in the crust. The flour absorbs the oil instead of all the water and the water steams off in hot oven creating those flakes/layers.) Mix half way again and next sprinkle in the yeast. Mix again with your spoon until it all comes together. Then you need to hand mix it gently for about 1.5-2 mins (I use one hand for this). You want to make sure you get most of the clumps of oil incorporated into the dough. After your done cover and put into oven with the light on for 5 hrs. Add butter flavored crisco to pan. I went all the way up the sides. Place stone on 2nd rack and preheat to 425. Preheat stone for additional 45 mins. Place dough in pan and press it out. I only went 1 inch up side of my 2 inch pan. This is important because the thinner you make it the harder it gets. I believe mine to be the sweet spot as for thickness. Increase temp to 450F and bake for 28 mins. I put foil on top with about 10 to go to prevent cheese burning and removed foil for final 3 mins. Hint: The crust gets better as it cools down. I remove from pan after 5 mins and then wait another 10 mins before I cut it.

So far, I've never been happy with the copycat recipes. My latest attempt was Bennigan's baked potsto soup. Just not the same, to say the least.

Olive Gardens Fettucini Alfredo. another big YUM! Dh hates it and everyone else gobbles it up and stuffs themselves.

McDonalds Hotcakes...they are so tasty!

Ingredients

* 2/3 cup carbonated lemon-lime beverage
* 1 egg
* 1 tablespoon sugar
* 1 tablespoon oil
* 1 1/2 cups biscuit mix

Directions

1 Put all ingredients into a blender.
1. Blend on high speed a few seconds until smooth.
  
  3.Let stand 10 minutes before using 1/4 cup batter for each pancake on hot, oiled griddle, browning each side.
Makes 8 to 10 pancakes.

CHEESE BISCUITS LIKE JIM N NICK'S

A restaurant I go to has these cheese biscuits. The restaurant is Jim n Nicks BBQ. They aren't biscuits at all and should be called cheese muffins.

1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup suger
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
3/4 cup 2% milk
1 egg, beaten
4 tbsp. butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp vanilla

Mix ingredients together, pour into greased muffin pan and at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes or until done.

These are fantastic and will make 12 muffins. Serve with butter and enjoy!

Wendy's Chili....I make this all the time and it's requested at parties now.Sooooooo good!Course I tweak the recipe a little,habit of mine I can't seem to break! LOL!

Nicole...this is the recipe I start with.Then I add a can of diced tomatoes,a chopped bell pepper,a package of McCormick Chili mix(in the little bag) and maybe some other beans if I have them.I make a HUGE pot so I basically just throw more of each ingrediant in til I have my pot full....it's a 10 qt pot.And it all gets eaten right up! LOL! Oh...I don't use the cumin,I don't care for cumin.

I haven't had very good luck with the copycat recipes except for Joe's Crab Shack mustard sauce. Yum!

SHONEY'S STRAWBERRY PIE

1Â½ cup water
Â¾ cup sugar
2 Tbs cornstarch
1 (3oz ) pkg strawberry Jello

Stir water, sugar and cornstarch together and cook until it boils and becomes clear. Add Jello after cooling. Pour over sliced strawberries in baked pie shell. Serve with whipped cream.

I've made this many times and it has always been a hit,

I guess there's just not much I can think of that I want to copy! Improve on, yes, but copy, not really. There's a couple places that make a good burger but I like to take the best from all and put together. For instance, one has a better patty but store bun, another has a good bun but doesn't toast it. And so on.

I did enjoy the dry rub ribs at Chili's and decided to try to improve on them, and did. Now I can make good ribs at home quite easily.

Wendy's chili is decent enough for when I have a craving for chili but it's a pretty basic chili recipe IMO but not really something I'd want to duplicate. A good basic chili is easy enough to make anyway.

We had some wonderful Moraccan lentil, black bean soup at Uno's Chicago Grill (in upstate NY) twice. It was offered as 'for a short time' or something like that, so its ingredients aren't on the menu.

While searching for something similar, I found this delightful site. If you are a soup lover, allow yourself a lot of time to browse :-)

I've mad a few Copycat recipes, they just don't come out "right". I prefer restaurant food (even fast food) made and served by the pros. 'll stick with tried and true recipes.

I've tried several copycat recipes for KFC coleslaw and finally found one that is pretty close.

KFC COLESLAW

1 head cabbage, finely chopped
1 medium carrot, shredded
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 T pepper
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 T white vinegar
2 1/2 T lemon juice

Be sure the cabbage and carrots are chopped up into very fine pieces about the size of rice kernels. Combine the sugar, salt, pepper, milk, mayonnaise, buttermilk, vinegar and lemon juice and beat until smooth. Add the cabbage and carrots and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Mix in blender til thick.
