The post about elementary school memories...

got me to thinking about Taper Avenue, in San Pedro California, where I went to school from half of 1st grade through 4th grade. I found one picture of the school that looks nothing like I remember.

I tried to look at the surrounding area to find the old street I lived on but couldn't find it. So, I googled my old address, that I still remember: 27609 South Samuel Dupont. Nothing came up. The last time I had seen it was about 8 years later on our senior trip to Disneyland from N. Nevada, where we lived after San Pedro. (1980) I saw our old house from the freeway, same green awning and brown painted wooden posts my dad had put up in the backyard, which faced the freeway.

I searched some tonight...errr, this morning-lol and found the whole housing area has been abandoned by the Navy. It's a little ghost town and that just makes me sad. I have a lot of good memories there. In fact, I still have a friend I keep in touch with from that neighborhood.

Here is a link that might be useful: sad
