What's for dinner on Sunday?

I'm inspired to start this thread tonight because our supper turned out so darned good, lol. I marinated some nice chops in ginger dressing all afternoon, then grilled them with a bit of wasabi stirred into the ginger dressing and painted on while grilling over hot coals.

Also made some skewers with mushrooms, zucchini, summer squash, and onions for the grill as well as some brown rice.

Yesterday, after a loooong afternoon of shopping for two mattresses, we went out to dinner in celebration of not murdering each other. :-)
sadly, our experience at Landry's left a great deal to be desired. Worthy of sending my plate back after only a few bites. That's never happened before!

I made PW's Country Fried Steak, garlic mashed taters and buttered peas.
Hubby had his with leftover rice.
I am stuffed..and there is a lot left over..picky brat boy..

We made dumplings, limas and carrot slaw followed by chocolate pie which was dropped off by a friend. We ate too much. I will be zzzzoned out in no time.

Satine, your little supper is one of my favorite snacks. Love it! I'll bet two meat loaves were awfully good....and totally different from each other. There are so many ways to make meatloaf and I can't seem to get it right, ever. :-( Lots of pancake lovers here at the kitchen table! Robert fixed a batch for us one day last week. Jas, your meatballs sound fabulous! Hoisin sauce is one of my secret ingredients in several things. I don't think that I've seen that movie; I'll have tl check it out.

Had a very special cookout at the home of our friends who used to live in Beaufort, SC (we were friends of mine there, too) and some mutual friends who still live there and are visiting for a few days. They brought several pounds of fresh shrimp and live blue crabs. Oh my. A big pot of Frogmore Stew (aka Lowcountry shrimp boil) was cooked up (shrimp, fresh sweet corn pieces, chunks of smoked sausage, Old Bay) and another of the crabs. I still have my outdoor propane stand and huge stainless pot from my lowcountry days and it was well employeed. We also had a big crunchy salad, angel biscuits and rolls, slaw, sliced tomatoes, peach kuchen, ice cream, ginger cookies, watermelon. Everybody will be here for supper. I'll be cooking a few things today and the chicken is marinating.

we went out to HuHot. OMGosh, I love that place. You get a bowl, fill it with whatever ingredients you like, add sauce and they cook it on a big round grill. 5 meat choices, many seafood choices, three types of noodles, many many fresh vegetables, tofu, beans, then on to the sauces and oils....probably 20 different ones. You choose what you like, it's all fresh and cooked as you watch. And.....you can go back as many times as you want. I got three small servings of different things. Now, I'm STUFFED. And, it's all healthy.

Shirley, we seldom have steak, and it's a real treat for us. Sounds good. Old Fixer, your seafood sounds good. You should have something else besides shrimp :-) Rhizo your dinner sounds absolutely delicious! Carabubble, salmon cooks nice in packets. I'll bet yours was perfect. Kath, did you have the turkey, stuffing, and the whole works yesterday? Susan, did you say baked peas? I've never heard of that, or creamed tuna. Your meal sounds like real comfort food. I like a tuna casserole with peas in it. Shirley, hubby would love your meal. He just loves hot dogs, and with vegetable soup and hashbrowns, he'd be in his glory.

Hi Rhizo,
We had a great dinner too! I didn't start the thread earlier as we use the laptop hooked up to the tv to watch our shows, and I wouldn't be able to come back and comment on everyone's yummy dishes.

I tried my hand at caramelized onions in the slow cooker----whole onions with butter and olive oil, but they are a long way from being caramelized. So I'll cook them more again tomorrow. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Anyway, made bread, lemon bundt cake, Raven's avocado dressing to use up a couple of well-ripened 'cados.

Put some ribs in the oven and had Chipotle barbecue sauce, baked potatoes and Angela's Parmesan Asparagus that she posted on the recipe thread.
Totally delicious meal.

I made a pot of chicken, sausage, and shrimp okra gumbo. We had our neighbors over for dinner. It was great. I also had some boudin and she made a delicious pecan pie. We had a wonderful time with good friends and great food.

I made a turkey today. We had turkey, dressing and gravy.

Went down to make Shrimp Creole over steamed rice. I am out of rice. I buy rice in bulk. I NEVER run out of rice.
Hubby threw together a pot of Bear Creek chili. I fried up a lamb chop that needed to be cooked.

Oh my, some setiously delicious dinners around the kitchen table tonight!

I love chicken fried steak with gravy....I should make it soon, Robert would be soooo happy.

Betsy, tell me about the carrot slaw. Sounds like something that I would like.

Jasdip, everything sounds wonderful. Isn't that dressing fabulous? I've got some ribs thawing for us to fix tomorrow. Love the sound of yours.

Raven, your evening sounds like so much fun and a treat, as well. I love a good gumbo and I have a feeling that yours is some of the best. I've never had boudin. I think I might be afraid of it, lol.

Oh, yummy....turkey! One of my all time favorites! I can smell it now.

Angelaid, at least you had a back up plan. That shrimp creole sounds awfully good, though. I'll bet we know what you'll be having tomorrow!

Went out to dinner with a friend.
I had salad, sea scallops, spinach and asparagus.
Yummy!
