My 5 Wives?

What do you think of it? I watched it twice, I saw it this week and I am just not happy with it. Too much time in the bed's and too much kissing. Sister wives doesn't show all that. You never see them waking up in the morning together. I also noticed its not a "clear" picture, it's more like a low quality movie your seeing.Some of the wives are whinny. I don't care for the husband either.

I don't think its gonna make it. What's your thoughts on this one?

Why is any air time at all devoted to an illegal practice? I don't get it.

I tried to watch it once... it didn't hold my attention though. I do like 'Sister Wives', but don't think I'll be watching 'My 5 Wives'.

Yep, it's true. If dear neighbor has a great lawn, did you think he was trying to sabatoge you? Weeds want the same basics that grass wants, air and water. The only thing is, they want them in different way and utilize them differently. Keep the grass higher than the weeds to shade the weeds from sunlight and smother oxygen. Deep water to irrigate grass roots because weeds are basically shallow-rooted and like shallow water conditions. But, there is more to mowing that best serves the grass plants, themselves. And don't be afraid of the weedkiller. It is likely you have bluegrass (please correct me if I'm wrong) in your lawn and maybe other species along with it, but the bluegrass, given the opportunity, will fill in the empty spots. One good thing for you is it isn't a good idea to broadcast herbicide anyway (although I must admit I would probably do that being the way you describe your lawn LOL), so just get a trigger spray and spot spray some at a time. Give the grass a couple weeks and spot spray some more. I am suggesting this along with a good maintenance schedule to follow. Scroll down that link for schedule outlined in red. Pay particular attention to the paragraphs on watering and mowing. I feel like a broken record because I say that so often, but it is necessary and very important.

Well, I did watch Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, and in my opinion, what a bizarre group of people. Worse that the kids beauty pageants. Little girls dressed in ridiculously over done dresses with high heels and make up......for their first communion! It made the beautiful and solemn rite, a circus. And did you see how they dance? Like they were practicing to pole dance and the way the teens posed for pictures like they were doing porn. I did feel a little sorry when their camp was destroyed, but if they didn't own the land, then they were squatters. I guess I didn't realize Gypsies still existed. Sister wives will be on next Sunday. I'm wondering if they will be back for another season. I suppose if they can live in LV without being harassed, they will, especially with a new baby coming.

It sounds hostile, but it is not, personally it is my sincere wish as a child of divorce. I have wathed my BM struggle through the pain, and anger of the divorce, but it is not about hating the new partner of her ex, or even punishing him, it is about the effect on the life she was building as well as the effects on her children. She fought to protect us from the effects of the divorce, and us having to deal with the fact that our father actually believed that this woman loves us. She accepts us, and we accept her. We recieve nice gifts on christmas and birthdays, but her marriage to dad is for her satisfaction and her life, my sibling and I agree that we do not appreciate the decisions that shape our lives influenced by a woman who has not sacrificed for us. I mean 'the divorce'! Our sense of security is protected by our mother. She knows us, and gives for us. And i admire her even more now that we are finally settled again from this mess, for her being brave enough to love again. My step dad has filled a real gap for us in the home, he has embraced what another has compromised. My personal hope and faith has been renewed. But unfortunately my dad does not seem to get it! He's now jealous. WHAT!

Thanks for the words of advice and encouragement. Somedays it is really hard to know what the best thing to do is. I used to try and suggest things directly to my dh's ex, but I am always met with "you don't know what it's like because you've never been a mother" Which is true I don't and won't be having children of my own..dh had the operation after the youngest was born-due to complications he does not want to reverse it-we talked extensively about this prior to our marriage, so it was not a surprise. Maybe it has had the effect of me wanting to be closer to my step daughters knowing that they are the closest to children I will have, I just don't know how to do it without upseting her. The thing is that I can in some aspects sympathize with her-I understand that things have not been easy for her in life either. Her father died when she was young, she got pregnant at 17 (dh was 22-the man she left for was older than my dh-I suspect she has spent her life looking for a father type figure-as by accounts by dh & her sister-she did not accept her step dad) Ex is actually a couple years younger than me. Back to the point....My oldest sd was a twin; they were born at 26 weeks. The oldest twin suffered a brain tumor and the doctors felt it was best to take her off life support. Dh feels that his ex never forgave him as she feels that he forced her to consent to let their child die. I can understand this somewhat, (I know as a sister losing is not the same as a mother) my own family dealt with this when my mother became pregnant with twins (which were born at about 26-27 weeks-unfortunately within a year both passed away) when I was 13. I just feel that if bm would lose some of her anger that it could make all of our lives easier. Not that I am saying it is all her fault either-as I mentioned the conversations between dh & ex would turn into shouting matches...I know my dh still holds a resentment at coming home twice to find that she emptied out their home and moved into an apartment with another man. I just can't understand why she has to make things so hard when all dh wants to do is what's best for his daughters and have a good relationship with them. I have tried being friendly, I've tried staying out of her way, but I really don't know what it will take to make her happy-maybe if I disappeared of the face of the earth? I once asked her if her bf's ex made her feel wrong for wanting to do things with his sons...she said that her bf's ex treated her awfully and all she wanted to do was nice things for her ss, but I guess it didn't register that when it comes to her daughters I am in the same position. Hopefully it will get better!! In the meantime I just love my sds when they are with us, do things with them, but also ensure that they have quality alone time with dad as well, and try to always be honest with them....and pray A lot!!

Joann, I have only looked at it while I was flipping through~~~I think all of the same things you just posted. I thought it was because I did not watch a whole episode. I was wondering why all the bedroom stuff and that it was out of focus. also get a creep alert from him:(

Totally agree with Rhizo. Why all of this celebrating of it (this one or Sister Wives)? I have the same feeling about the pregnant teens shows.

I also agree with Rhizo and suzieque. Shock tv, cat fights, girls dressing and acting like hookers, guys acting like d bags, unwed pregnant children, baby girls dressed and taught to act like grown women and then throw in some polygamy to round it all out.

Um.......no. I won't watch any of it.

(Just a side thought, why don't the polygamists ever consist of one wife and 4 or 5 husbands? Or does it? I don't know, and I honestly don't care, it was just a thought.)

No I think at some point they were Mormon, but broke from the church...that is why they talk of moving..

I think many people are fascinated by more than one wife but I would be willing to bet just from what I have seen that they are not the loving each other bunch of wives that they want us to believe...

I've only seen the promos for it and I would not watch. What is interesting about this type of show? Or sister wives either. I tried to watch that one and only saw part of a show. Too much other good shows that are of a moral value. JMO.

I have seen the commercials for it and, like Sister Wives, too much whining and crying for me. Jealousy seems to be the order of the day, which is annoying. If you sign up to work on a farm, your gonna step in it!

I hate those commercials, they are annoying. I can't stand looking at him either! If I had 1-2-3-4-5 sister wives I'd be jealous too!

I felt no closeness or bond between the five wives. They look so uncomfortable together and I don't feel a sense of family like I do with Sisterwives.

One woman ... four or five husbands?

The trains don't run both ways on that track!

If there were guns in the house ...

... soon there'd be fewer "husbands"!

Some years ago a friend was telling of her husband who'd strayed ... apparently on a few occasions ... or was it mainly such when he was found out?

In any case, there was crying and reconciliation, etc.

I said that I thought that, on the second occasion (or, maybe the first?), that I'd have told him that he should pay careful attention to what I was about to say, which was that the next time that he tried that, that I'd go out and do exactly the same.

She said that she had ... and his reply, made with substantial vehemence, had been that "he'd kill her!".

Dad used to say that what was sauce for the goose ... should be sauce for the gander.

Tired of the 1 husband many wives idea...in the old days I guess they couldn't figure out paternity, today with DNA testing it's a different game....how about wife and her 5 husbands?..
