What a difference two years and braces make.

GS had his braces taken off this afternoon. The smile says it all.

Glad to hear you're okay Dirtgirl! We just had rain. I can't believe how poor Tennessee has faired through all this. I can't imagine losing everything all at once. I'm going to cover up my stocktank with a tarp tonight. I have a water lily in that. Fortunately, my lotus are still underground. I'll bring them up tomorrow. Looks like it's going to be a beautful day. Hope it's good in your direction too! I've noticed that perennials seem to weather a few frosts much better than annuals. I guess it's because they've gotten used to it. I hope all the daffodils do okay.

I had braces two+ decades ago now, and still wear my retainer. It's only an upper one because they did a permanent on my lowers which is cemented to the back side of the front 4 (maybe 6? it stops after the lower incisors/canines)...As a result, my teeth are still perfectly straight after all this time. No cavities until I got my first, was 27 at the time. Only two additional ones and a chipped edge on the lower molar furthest back which the dentist did a crown on so that I wouldn't end up needing a root canal down the road. I got sick with various respiratory illnesses on what generally was an annual basis when I was a child, so the doctor would prescribe a round of antibiotics each time. This took care of the illness but also made my permanent teeth yellowed. Can't have everything work out perfectly. ;) The bleaching gel you use custom trays for, and only available through the dentist, those helped but using them too frequently causes me tooth sensitivity so that's something I do sparingly and just for maintenance. I may have spent my entire life before 2017 in SoCal, but I don't need blindingly white Hollywood teeth. No yellow corn kernels either. ;)

This is a subject that is near and dear to my heart. I've been searching for a vintage living room chair for months and just found this one right before Christmas (will be re-upholstered as soon as I can find a rug for the room and can reliably pick a fabric): The chair you posted is a nice chair, but it seems formal to me (as opposed to grandmother-ly). I found that most chairs of this vintage have a bit of wood on the arms, and it makes them seem uncomfortable or formal. Fully-upholstered is hard to find, and when you do find it, it's often quite wide for an old chair (this one is 37" I think). A while back, I did find a nice one on craigslist with a tight upholstered back and tight upright thin upholstered arms, but it was the wrong color and I passed on it because I was hoping to find something that I didn't have to reupholster. I'm still regretting that missed gem! So if you see one that has nice lines, I'd say snag it, regardless of the upholstery. Hope that helps in your search. palms lose a set of fronds every year ... if that is the right word .. frond ... it cyclical.. annual.. and normal ... once you see a new shoot developing.. it might be time to cut off the worst of this lot ... but not all at once ... did you move it to a new house?? ... if so.. its stressed due to all the cultural variables being changed.. light.. heat/temp.. you watering different than grandma .... etc .... i also wonder about when was the last time it was repotted into fresh soil .... see whats going on IN THE POT ... too often we over react to what we see.. and the problem is the part we cant see ... [i have experience with the bugt issue embo mentions] potting media is a water management system .... and it wears out ... leading to watering problems ... which leads to stress .. which leads to what we are looking at ... we had a houseplant palm for 20 years ..... no clue if it was this one ... but we kept it rather dry .. so if you are watering it.. and keeping it wet ... there might be a base issue ... there is a houseplant forum.. and you might get a lot of guidance there.. on how to care for it ... [and looking above.. i see you covered that] .... and probably also a palm forum ... but i dont have time to check that ... good luck. and try not to love it to death ... ken

Now don't lose your retainer and wear it all the time! LOL!!

DD's retainer is clear, you can't even tell she is wearing it, and she does wear it faithfully!

It has been fun watching him grow up. He is around the same age as my kids. He sounds like a fantastic young man!

I am sure you see a great improvement. I remember when DD had hers removed JUST in time for senior pictures. Then I saw the picture they took before she got them, and I could not believe the improvement especially with fixing a slightly receding chin.

Vey nice!!!!! It's amazing how braces work. DD's are coming off soon too. They are giving her a permanent retainer bounded behind her teeth (you don't see it at all-no food restrictions) plus a regular retainer to wear at night for 2 years,
