Wow..I just read that John is out partying with coeds ( on tape) and living apart from Kate.

Was it that nagging Kate, spoiled little snit Maddy or fame gone to his head?

I wonder how much of it is true, sure a lot on the web about it today..Kathy

This is the first I've heard of it. If it's true, doesn't he realize he will have shot the goose that laid the golden egg?

I think Kate would be very hard to live with but I hope for the kids sake it's not true. I have noticed on the last few shows he has been very quite during the decussion time. I think it is because she is always belittling him. Again for the sake of the children I hope it's not true but Kate does need something to make her come down from her high horse.

Not John and Kate + 8? ;) I spent months researching my new machines (literally - you can trace my posts back to summer of last year I think). I had a Frigidaire front loader for 10 years so I was not new to front load washing. My Frigidaire was pretty basic (no heater, no fancy settings). We are a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids ages 8 and 5). I'm not even sure how many loads we do but it's a lot. When you factor in bedding, towels, clothes, separate loads like tea towels, cleaning cloths, my husband's dress shirts ... oh my! I narrowed my search down to Miele (W4842) and LG (WM3885). I would have considered Samsung but they do not make a gas dryer for Canada. I wanted, very badly, to love the Bosch Vision 800. Firstly, they are discontinuing their 27" washing machine line end of this year. That concerns me from a part perspective. You would hope parts will be available way down the line but who's to know. I also felt Bosch did not feel very solidly built. I found the dials and plastics felt cheap. I also felt that Whirlpool and Maytag did not feel very "solid". On one machine I was looking at, the detergent drawer was hard to push in and stay in. I really felt the LG machine felt very solid. Everything on them moved effortlessly from dials to detergent drawer. They seem to get very good customer reviews and they were voted most reliable by "a leading consumer magazine". In the end I opted for the Miele (W4842/T9822). I gave up bells, whistles and larger capacity in the hopes of cleaning excellence. I've had them since early February. I can't say how much better they are than my second choice LG (as I've never owned the LG). Although my parents have brand new LG (entry level) machines and are very happy with them. I can say that the Miele definitely washes better than my previous machine and rinses MUCH better. I was always struggling with bubbles left on the glass of my previous machine and that is never a problem with the Miele. Even detergents that were too sudsy for my previous machine work wonderfully in the new Miele. Miele has some features that are hard to appreciate until you own them. I read previously that most machines determine how much water to use based on weight of the load. Miele does not do that but instead "senses" how much water is needed. Therefore, on a load like towels that absorb a lot of water, it will give you more. Other makes will not. I think this makes a difference. Miele also has a setting for comforters (I also use it for mattress pads or anything really bulky) that will "vent" the item(s) first. It thoroughly wets them and then spins out before it actually begins washing. I wasn't sure the heater was a big deal to me. I hadn't had one before and things seemed ok. I really appreciate it now. I also appreciate that the Miele maintains target temps in all settings (except Normal). Other makes (like LG) will only guarantee temps in sanitary and extra hot. I often use the Extra White setting now for items like tea towels, bath towels and bed sheets. My tea towels are noticeably whiter and cleaner. I also feel better knowing they are washed in such hot water. I'm very pleased with my Miele pair. The dryer is another whole discussion. I really like it. It dries very quickly and leaves clothes with some moisture which in the long run is better for fabrics. They are not the largest machines available; you have to decide what your top priority is. Nor are they the quietest (LG is a little quieter - maybe due to their direct drive motor) - although they are not that noisy. I really wanted the best cleaning with the (hopefully) most durable machine. I did get a free upgrade to a 10 year warranty with Miele so that definitely helped push me to that decision. I had to pay for the extended LG warranty and it was only for 5 years. FWIW, my sales guy works in a store that sells the most Miele in Canada. He sells a lot of Miele (he's even been to Germany to see manufacturing first hand). His first choice is Miele, his current second choice is Samsung and then LG. He's no longer a fan of Whirlpool/Maytag and definitely not Bosch. He said if everyone could see what's "under the hood" of a Miele - they would choose it over the others. No one builds them like Miele (he tells me). Good luck!

Interesting that you posted this today. I watch the show if I happen to be clicking around and find it. My favorite is little Aiden - "the professor" - so cute! They all are. I don't like the way that Kate (mostly it's Kate) frequently disses Maddy. Heck - the kids watch the show (they've said that before). How does Maddy feel about her mother/parents saying things like that about her, even if they're true. She's 7! I wouldn't like to continually hear about what a problem I am or how different I am even now, at my ripe age, much less when I was 7. For example, last night Kate was talking about the trip to the ceramics studio (or whatever it was) with the girls. She said that Cara made an adorable something-or-other and how great it was, and that Maddy made a perfectly atrocious something else. Those weren't her exact descriptions, but her words were equally distinct. Poor kid. Maybe Kate should consider cause-and-effect? Kids all have different personalities and we deal with them as individuals. Hopefully we don't make critical comments so often, especially to the whole world. Frankly, I don't like the way the twins act like little mothers to the sextuplets. That's Kate's job - the twins should just act like 7 year olds and not mommies (I'm not saying that Kate made them that way). I liked the video they showed last night at the very end. It showed lots of kisses and hugs and cuddling between the parents and kids, something that we don't see often otherwise.

"BUT these kids aren't exactly acting and not all being taped at the same time." I've never seen J&K+8 but all these reality show operate the same way. They are being filmed all at the same time. Hours and hours and hours of film is made and then later edited into shows. They have stationary camera in rooms all the rooms of the homes and autos, AND they have a camera person assigned to follow them around. That way, if Mom goes out with two of the kids there is a camera in the car filming. Meanwhile there are cameras set around the home filming Dad and the other kids. The producers don't want to miss a beat and miss out on that "defining moment" that can be used to create a plot line. The majority of what the reality shows film end up on "the cutting room floor" because it is so boring. Just the "good stuff" is used. For child actors under a certain age they must use twins or triplets. Babies can only "work" a couple hours a day not six. But it has been proven that the producers of these shows often skirt this by just using one twin for the majority of filming if one is more well behaved or a better actor than the other. Suposedly with the Olsen twins one baby girl was used for most of the episodes because the other one was too fidgety and distracted, and cried all the time but of course the producers had both of them on the payroll with payment divided.

I recognize the street and the terrain. That house is actually in Wyomissing Hills, which is technically part of the borough of Wyomissing but does not count as Wyomissing for cachet. LOL. The Swifts have been gone for many years. The commute to the outskirts of Philly is about an hour. Actually driving into the city can take a lot longer. No train service this far out. But there's easy access to nice country, farm markets, open spaces. Pam's right, though. The city of Reading has changed very much for the worse.

I think kate is a ream beech...and if it is true, more power to him. If my mate treated me the way she treats and talks to him....I'd be out of there so fast it would make heads swim.

I agree with Ruthie. I dont like her at all. He should lose her and get a new show...John plus Eight minus Kate! (I can't take credit for that, I saw it online)

Wow..I was wondering how long he can take the digs she throws at him all the time. I love the show but she is really a nag. And rude to her kids too I've noticed...never any loving, smiling playtime with them. Always barking out orders to them. I have seen such a change over the years with her...guess it's all business now!

I've only watched the show a few times, the reason being is that I can't stand the way Kate treats Jon. I feel bad for the kids.

I've never liked this show. Unfortunately, my daughter loves to watch it, so I can hear it from the other room. Who knows what Kate and Jon are like in real life. I've gotten the feeling that the writers have really worked Jon and Kate's personalities. This is why I don't even like so-called "reality" shows anymore. How much of it is reality?

Even reality shows are scripted! I watch the show all the time and like it and I don't see them as exploiting their children.At least their house is clean,unlike the "Little People,Big World" family!LOL
I think Kate is just Kate and John takes her attitude with a grain of salt.Actually,I think he can dish it out too at times.Anyway,who would be in a perfect mood all the time with 8 kids and a dozen strangers and cameras in their house 24/7? I think it is great that they can afford the new home.Why is it anyone else's business anyway? I am not inclined to believe everything I read or hear.If you check there are a dozen different stories floating around about the "divorce" and the rumors about John.I totally agree with yayagal and intherain.

They are from my neck of the woods and Kate was a real pain from the day she gave birth. It was like she was entitled. Whined all the time for a car, a bigger house...like it was OUR job to provide for her brood. Sort of like octomom!! I would not blame Jon at all. Kate even charges for pictures at booksignings. I read their book and found it boring.

While there is no excuse for Kate being snippy with and putting Jon down, there is maybe a 'reason'.

I get the feeling that Kate is largely the head of the household chores and meals.
I 'imagine' she is in charge of planning the meals so the kids are fed well.
I 'imagine' she is in charge of seeing to their wardrobes, and that they have clothes and shoes that fit and are in decent shape.
I 'imagine' she is the brains behind the 'entertainment' of the children for 'away from home' activities, as well as for at home entertainment.
I 'imagine' she is the one responsible to seeing that everything is gathered together and taken for any kind of an outing.
I 'imagine' she is the one who arranges for any appointments (school, doctor, dentist, etc) the children have.
I 'imagine' she is the one who knows all things must stay on schedule as she has said many times, that the children do their best when they are kept on schedule.

While they are a 'team', someone has to be the leader, or there would be total chaos. She is the leader and there is nothing wrong with that.

So what if Jon went out and let his hair (now that he has some) down. Have you ever seen him go anywhere without at least a couple of children with him? I have seen Kate out before without kids, but never Jon.

Lastly...have you ever known anyone who was a better person after several drinks? Often people do and say things they would not normally do if they were sober. Often they regret those things.

The pic below is of, imho, Jon with a couple of fans. No one is all over anyone...sheesh.... as the article linked above states.

I do hope this is just a rumor and not true. I just wish Jon would get a back bone and speak up to Kate when she belittles him. One thing I was surprised about this season is their getting a dog...I mean two dogs. I think I caught that they got two German Shepard or G Shepard mix puppies. With Kate's cleanliness streak, I wonder how long it will be before the dogs disappear.Don't get me wrong, I love dogs and especially G.Shepards, but I wonder if it is a good idea to have the poor dogs around eight grabby kids.
I agree with Lilliepad, about their house being clean compared to the Little People Big World family. I've often wondered how they sre so nonchalant about the mess of their home during filming. JMO Dottie

They have nannies, a cook, and housekeepers. One with think with the new Million dollar house and free trips provided by the income of the series, as well as all that help they might spend a few hundred on marriage counseling and address their " issues".

Just to respond to Dotmom about "Little People, Big World", early on in the program the wife (cripes I can't remember her name) explained that to constantly bend over and reach up is very tiring and most closets are geared to high shelves, her counters required more reaching than they could reach so many things went undone. Unfortunately, they chose not to require too much of their children in the way of keep after themselves, thus the mess. On the other hand, they do an awful lot for two small people. I would think by now they could hire help with the money they make from the show. I enjoy their family.

yYayagal....I would think that with all of the remodeling of their house, closets and counters would be made to accommodate their height. As for the kids, they surely are old enough to learn to pick up after them selves, especially if it is hard for the mom to do it. Maybe it's just me, but if I knew cameras would be coming into my house filming for the whole U.S. to see, I would sure as he!! pick up the house and make sure the kids help. Dottie

If Jon wants to leave, I think Kate would get along just fine without him, but 'Jon plus 8 minus Kate' would be a disaster. He couldn't handle being in charge of all of those kids for very long. I think a lot of Kate's frustration stems from Jon being more like a 9th child rather than a parent. I think she would let up a bit if she had a more capable partner. Without her doings they would be living a very poor existence. If that story is true, that just proves what an idiot he is. I don't care how bad their marriage is, that just plain stupidity for him to party with college girls.

I definitely think that the show is mostly all scripted. Seems the more people complain about Kate the higher their ratings go.

Anyway, it's too bad it's all turned into such a big circus, none of this is doing those kids any good.

Look at what publicity did to the Dionne quintuplets.

That guy has curly hair. Jon does not.
