Socks, I have something you can get from Keurig for about $17 that you put you own coffee in, You can make it as strong or weak as you like it. I buy the Keurig coffee from Wal-Mart, You can get an entire "wheel" of coffees for about #25.

I buy my coffee pods at a place that sells coffee and coffee makers to offices. You can only buy it by the case (4 boxes per case) but it's cheaper than anywhere else. You might want to look into that.

Arosegirl, thanks for reminding me that I have one of those Keurig "things" in which you can put your own coffee. I did it once and had an overflow somehow and didn't try again. I'll take it along with some regular Keurigs and we can experiment with it as well as use the others.

I had a Keurig coffee maker and bought a reuseable filter for my regular coffee.

Do you have the K cup or the Vue cup? We have the Vue cups and are in a very rural area. The only place I have found them is at Bed Bath Beyond which is about a 40 minute drive for us. K kup is the most popular and can be found in Walmart as well. Amazon also carries both.

If you have a Sam's Club close to you, I have heard they are quite reasonable there. Or maybe Staples , which I need to check also.

I either use a coupon or buy the store version. Publix has theirs for $5.99 for a box of 18. It usually runs for about $0.50 per cup. For the amount I'd waste, it's worth it to me.

Socks, if you use the refillable cup, you have to remove the black k-cup holder first. Then fill the basket with the amount of coffee grounds you want, a Tablespoon or so, and insert the whole apparatus. Be sure that the lid has screwed on tight. If you pack it too full, it can overflow. I also use a wide mouthed, fat coffee mug to help control splashes as it pours the coffee.

Does a Keurig make really good coffee? I;ve never tried it. I am about to pack in my old Braun, but I am overwhelmed by all the choices these days.

Costco is fine if you know one particular brand you want, but they sell them in large packages. (Like 82) I like to get a variety from Keurig dot com. They offer many of their selections in 5 single serve sample packs. You have to click on the name of the coffee first to see the price and then you will see the 5 item price, too. If you order $45, you get free shipping. Another good thing to know...most of the boxes you buy at Keurig dot com are twice the size as those bought at BBB. Amazon also sells variety packs. I also try to use the maximum of fifty cents a cup rule when buying.

Dedtired, don't pack in your Braun until it dies. You will never get as good a coffemaker again. I still mourn the loss of mine about 4 years ago. a good substitute is Cuisinart. At least the coffee is well brewed and HOT. I don't like the Keurig: I don't like the kind of coffee it makes and it's not hot enough.

We only use three cups of coffee a day -- two for DH and one for me -- just plain old Krups drip coffee maker. We've somehow missed the boat on becoming coffee snobs. Every year when we get to Maui we try the 'special' Kona coffees; grind the beans, etc. After a couple of weeks I start picking up a can of Melitta Columbian at Safeway, just like at home.

Coffee's a food product. Fresh is MUCH better than canned or prepackaged, just like fresh veggies are better than canned. The difference isn't subtle.

If you can't taste the difference or don't care, that's fine. Someone who can shouldn't be called a coffee "snob" anymore than you should be called a coffee "slob".

I don't really like the Keurig. It's just a high-priced way to run hot water through coffee grounds. But it is convenient. Kinda big on the counter too.

We are using Mr. Coffee now. Works fine.

I buy all my Keurig coffee online from Keurig. I go through ebates.ca to make my purchase, but you can also go through ebates.com if you're in the US. If you don't know what ebates is, you sign up with them (you can use my email address as a referal and they'll give you $5! gwdmf (at) hotmail (dot) com. Once you are a member of Ebates, search of Keurig. Find the coffee you like and order it. I always get enough so shipping is free. Last time I bought coffee, I got 10% back from my purchase from Ebates ($6), the coffee was on sale and shipping was free. It worked out to a free 24 pack of coffee!!! so worth is. I NEVER buy my Kcups in the store.

Sheilajoyce, I have the device you mentioned, as well as a smaller re-usable filter that's exactly the same size as a K-cup. The smaller one does not require removal of the K-cup holder in the Keurig.

That said, I buy my K-cups at Sams Club - 80 for about $31 (I buy the Sams Club brand).

My husband bought me 4 refillable filters for $15 that don't require anything be removed from my machine. I only use them for tea. I don't like regular coffee made in the machine. I'm a Emeril fan. This is the only one I drink. It's really strong, bold, rich and delicious!

I just bought Mr. Coffee's version of the Keurig from Amazon for $79.??. Also bought that filter that Glenda was talking about. The blurb said, "Mr. Coffee made using Keurig technology." I don't drink coffee, but I notice when I have company they only drink a cup or two.

I do love my Keurig. I only drink one cup of coffee a day, sometimes tea in the evening.

For guests, I keep a wide variety of strengths and flavors, as well as teas, hot chocolate, apple cider and some cold flavored teas as well.
I usually buy from Green Mountain online. They have absolutey the largest selection and right now free shipping if you buy 2 boxes. I just checked price of one flavored coffee. If you are a member (just register), the price is .58 per cup. The ease of delivery and large selection makes it an easy choice for me.

We use the Cafe Cups. Get our coffee beans from Costco and grind them. Have saved a fortune by not buying Kcups. You just fill them and put them in the same holder that you would the Kcup. I also saw them at Target for the same price.

I get Starbucks K-cups usually when Target has them on sale, I often have a coupon for them too. There are a few Starbucks coffees I LOVE (I am hoarding Casi Cielo) so I get the K-cups whether they are on sale or not but I also only use 2 a week LOL Sat & Sun am. DH uses ALOT of K-cups and found San Francisco Bay Coffee via subscription service (15% discount) on Amazon w Prime to be his cheapest I think they come in at $0.38 ea. They are also 97% biodegradable. He also gets his Green Tea bulk that way... ~ liz

I have been looking for Dunkin Donuts K-Cups at all the stores here but they don't have them yet. I bought some Gloria Jean's K-Cups and so far they are all delicious.
I use my Keurig more for making fresh ice tea then coffee. I buy my tea a case at a time from Royal Cup.

My DH just told the new Keurig machines coming out will have RFID readers in them and work w only Keurig brand coffee or approved brands that will have RFID's...just like printers needing brand name ink for warranties... ~ liz

Haven't used the old drip coffee pot in eons. Nothing fancy needed here. Needing one last cup beyond a potful, there is always instant handy.
