It's cold and snowing, so I'm staying inside today. Thinking about making some brownies because that's what I have on hand ... but I have to say I'd rather have some of your cranberry orange banana bread! LOL!

Brownies sound good-I've got a hankering for chocolate and nuts!

I'm making my lemon bundt cake today. We love that one and it's easy-peasy, which Iike! LOL

Not today--did my baking Thursday. Made 12 dozen cookies Thursday. A batch each of molasses cookies and peanut butter cookies. I froze most of them so there would be some left since DSD, DSIL and DGD are coming from California Thursday to spend about a week with us.

Today I'm cleaning house, or at least starting it. Washed the sheets and have everything dusted so far. Lots more to do, though. Had to take a break!

No, but after reading these replies I think I'll at least go and whip up some brownies. Thanks for posting and giving me the idea.

Marilyn Sue would you please post your recipe for the cranberry, orange, banana bread. It sounds yummy.

Cranberry Orange Banana Bread

3 mashed very ripe bananas
2 eggs
3 tablespoons milk
1 box Betty Crocker Cranberry Orange Quick Bread Mix 15.6 ounces
1 cup chopped nuts

Mix the first 3 ingredients well. Add the quick bread mix and stir and add the chopped nuts. Stir until there is no dry ingredients showing. Pour into a greased large loaf pan and bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes.

Let cool in the pan for ten minutes and then take out of the pan. Can be wrapped and frozen. I am sure you could use other flavors as well. Enjoy

I love cranberry-orange. I make muffins of that type...yum!

My neighbour knocked on my door and gave me some TURKEY eggs!
Wow...huge and gorgeous shells.
I used one, plus 2 regular eggs in my lemon cake.
I'm giving him a large slice of my lemon cake as a thank-you.

Jasdip, could you post your recipe for that lemon cake? I love anything lemon.

Here ya go Deb!

Lemon Cake
1 lemon cake mix
1 instant lemon pudding
3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup milk
4 eggs

Grease and flour a bundt pan. Mix all ingredients well, and bake at 325 degrees 1 hour.

Glaze:
Mix 3/4 cup icing sugar with juice of 1 lemon.

When cake is done let cool slightly then set onto a rack set over a baking sheet. Drizzle glaze all over the cake.

This cake is awesome and freezes very well!

Deb, "invert" the cake over the baking sheet. It looks great upside down, and easy to slice.

I did! Made a Texas Sheet Cake for the first time in ages.Eating a piece right now and it is soooo good.Didn't have pecans for the frosting but it is good anyway.

Texas sheet cake is really good. I also really like the "White Texas Sheet Cake". Has almond flavoring in it. The kids really like it too.

Marilyn-that sounds good.Never heard of that one.I love the sheetcake.I had to make it in two pans because I don't have a sheetcake pan here but they turned out fine.One is almost gone already.Of course there are 3 big guys here(2 sons and a grandson) so that just about eliminates one and I won't say who ate a big piece before they went to bed last night! I'm thinking of having another piece with my coffee right now!LOL

White Texas Sheet Cake

Yield 1 - 10 x 15 x 1 inch sheet cake
Ingredients

* 1 cup butter
* 1 cup water
* 2 cups all-purpose flour
* 2 cups white sugar
* 2 eggs
* 1/2 cup sour cream
* 1 teaspoon almond extract
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 1/2 cup butter
* 1/4 cup milk
* 4 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
* 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
* 1 cup chopped walnuts or chopped almonds or pecans

Directions

1. In a large saucepan, bring 1 cup butter or margarine and water to a boil. Remove from heat, and stir in flour, sugar, eggs, sour cream, 1 teaspoon almond extract, salt, and baking soda until smooth. Pour batter into a greased 10 x 15 x 1 inch baking pan.
2. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 20 to 22 minutes, or until cake is golden brown and tests done. Cool for 20 minutes.
3. Combine 1/2 cup butter or margarine and milk in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Mix in sugar and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. Stir in pecans. Spread frosting over warm cake. A jelly roll pan is best for this cake. Let stand a day before eating if you can as the flavors are better. This is making me hungry for one.

I find those little envelopes of muffin mixes very good the kind you only add water or milk too. The blueberry came out great. Since I'll have my oven on to heat up the kitchen today 38° right now I might put in some strawberry or Banana muffins.
It will make the house smell nice too

I can smell them all the way up here in Indiana, Minnie! I took one of my homemade cherry pies out of the freezer and thawed in my oven, ummm, ummm, good!

I just found this recipe and it sounds pretty good. I would think you could take the icing recipe for the White Texas Sheet cake and not put almond in it and use lemon and it would be good instead of the cream cheese frosting.
