Prayers Needed for Son in Law Bill

I had a phone call from our daughter Terri and her husband Bill was just arriving at the hospital in an ambulance. She thinks he has had a stroke. He is diabetic and on dialysis 3 times a week and this will be very hard on him. He is in his 50's. They can use your prayers and healing thoughts.

I just heard they are transferring him to a bigger hospital in Indianapolis. Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts. I went though this a few years ago with my husband and he is not diabetic.

Thank You for your prayers. Bob is really suffering, his abdomen fills up with fluid causing excruiating pain, they took 10 liters out the first time than 4 days later they had to take out 4 liters. He may have more tumors in his abdomen which may be causing this. He has not started the chemo yet because they thought he had an infection so they put him in hospital again and gave him heavy antibiotics the same kind they gave me it is called vancomycin. He sees the doctor on Tuesday and maybe he will start chemo this week. I am asking all of my Garden Junk Prayer Warriors for prayer for Bob, my grandson Robbie and granddaughter Monique. Thank you everyone for all the prayers, good thoughts and kind words. The hearing went well but the ALJ (administrative law judge) did not give me his final decision, I'll have to wait for that, 6 weeks to 6 months. After nearly three years of waiting, what's another six months eh? Pfft..yeah right! LOL!! My son and his girlfriend are doing better. GF is going back to work on Monday and is feeling so much better. My son is up and using crutches some, I have heard. I've not been able to speak to him because his cell phone is shut off at the moment. Why do kids procrastinate such things?? His employer told him to heal well and not to come back to work until he is 100 %. He saw the film of the accident on the news so he knew it was bad already when DS called in. Anyway, I saw his father yesterday and he did not know if appointments for the specialist have been made or not. He was going to stop by and check in on them but I have not heard anything yet. I'll let you know when I know anything. Day two and still no lower back pain!! It's a miracle, I am just in awe over it. I always thought acupuncture was probably all in the mind but I was very wrong. I don't know how it works but I love what it has done for me in just two treatments!! I know it will be short lived but I am going to enjoy every second of it while I have it. My yard is calling to me but I am resisting so far. Actually I feel completely exhausted and I'm wondering if it is a reaction of my body because it has suddenly been relieved of the burden it has been under for so long. All day I just wanted to go in and lay down. Tomorrow, I think I'll give in to that feeling, if it is there again. Thanks for all the support. The father is the next of kin and a likely person to be tagged as caregiver. However, there may be other circumstances involved, one that could eliminate him as a 'good' parent. First off, he's got his head in the sand if he thinks he can avoid the cost of child support. Ya sure, he can stop child support payments if the child lives under his roof, but he has not thought this through. There is a cost to supporting a minor and I'll hazard that cost could equal what he was paying in child support. He'll have to feed, clothe him, provide schooling extra activities, and be a father at other times. The child will need supervision (and companionship) when not in school. This means 'dad' should be home enough hours to keep track of the kid. His personal freedom will be vastly curtailed. I'd certainly have child protective services look into the situation to determine if he qualifies as a parent. "Dad's" life style is a big factor in this case. If Dad travels out of town, he'll need to provide overseerer care while he's gone. This will be needed until the son attains an age where he is mauture enough to be self sufficient. If dad does not, or can not, become enough of a father, this boy is headed toward self destruction. But if dad is highly interested in his son, he could surprise everyone with good results. Next, since you seem to be a very interested party, could you become his guardian? I know there are costs, but look into financial help that you might be elgible for, namely Social Security.

Sorry to hear this. What a tough battle, diabetes and kidney failure. My father lived ten years on dialysis, back when it wasn't as refined as it is now, and he was seventy when his kidneys failed -- very different from your DD's husband, only middle aged. Hoping for the best for Bill and all the family. Do he and Terri have children?

Thank you for all of your prayers and good healing thoughts. As of now there has been no change for the better. He has developed a fever. He is still in intensive care. I will try to keep you updated as to how he is doing.

Bill now has pneumonia but at times does open his eyes and he can hear and see and is able to communicate by squeezing hands or raising a finger up and down. He is on a ventilator for now. Thank you again for the prayers.

There have been no improvements over the last days, he does open his eyes from time to time but has no strength to communicate with them. His stroke caused bleeding in the brain, caused from high blood pressure. He is also diabetic and on dialysis 3 times a week. They are having a hard time giving him dialysis because the filter keeps clogging and he can not be given a blood thinner.Terri has not been home since he went to the hospital. We go out each day and do what needs to be done, feed the cats, get the mail and things. Thanks for the continued prayers.

Latest update. Terri has texted her sister, Amber and said the CT scan has showed there is still some bleeding in Bill's brain. He has been in the hospital one week today.

Thank you for letting us know how Bill is doing What an awful stressful and fearful time for all of you. It's good that you can be there to take care of things at home, so there one less thing for Terri to worry about. Thinking of you all.

No, it was Terri and Bill's daughter who was expecting and she had a baby boy on Dec. 2. He and his Mommy are staying down near the hospital too so they can all be together. They are allowed in the ICU at the hospital.
