I knew the problem with that picture was it made the area look too good. I took that picture precisely because it was pretty, but other parts of the yard look more bare, including the part in front of the house. That's a mix of maple and (hidden behind the maples in this shot) Eastern Red Cedar that self-seeded along a fence line. When I was little there was a row of pine (Austrian? Japanese Black?) in front of them. Quite a few of the trees in the yard are getting long in the tooth...we lost a bunch of big limbs this year, and a few trees a couple years ago...I know another batch are going to go in a year or two. My thought was we'd plant a couple rows of trees to fill in the gap in front of the house, then thought of extending it beyond the house to provide "understudies" for those trees. My reason for not planting the trees farther back was because I wanted to allow some space away from what's left of that row, and to continue a line of trees the neighbors (on the other side) started on their property. Neither row is a directly beneath the power line, but the front row I was thinking of is close. The side I'm planting trees along is about 417 feet long. I've had really good luck finding specific trees at tree farms. Using nurseryguide.com, you can call the wholesaler who will tell you where he has sold X tree retail so you can track it down -- and some will let you come to their farm to buy. Hughes Water Garden in Tualatin is awesome if you have a pond, stream or bog that you want to make a showpiece. Talk about water features! Incredible place to wander around and stare. Portland Nursery, Loen's in Sherwood/Tualatin (a must), 7-Dees, Al's, Garden World off I-5, Evans Farms in south Oregon City. Garden World is huge and very interesting, found some unique spectacular trees there, but their prices have gone up. Garden Corner in Tualatin has the prettiest collection of flowers I've ever seen. Classy place. If you want exotic conifers go to Peace of Mind nursery, make an appointment. Wow! This spring planted a Pinus monticola (finally!) from an Xmas tree farm, gorgeous, and a Quercus frainetto from a tree farm, thank goodness for nurseryguide.com There are a lot of nurseries around here. I look for those that take good care of their plants, repotting them when roots start hitting the sides and watering them thoroughly. Also, I like it when the staff actually knows something about the plants.

Thank you all for the help and suggestions. The road is not a temporary road or easement. It's a road in site plans when we purchased our house. I went to the sales office today, they said they want to change the design of the house for the lots on the other side of the road, because it does not sell well. By the original design, those lots has a garage on the back of the house, now, they want to have the garage in the front of the house. so they removed the road that's share between our side of the house and the other side. Also on each side of the road, there are about 10-15 lots. only three on the side of our house are built, the rest are still empty lots.

Jakabedy, thanks for that great information about the show! Even though I haven’t watched “Breaking Bad“ or “Better Call Saul”, it’s good to know more about the part that takes place here by me.
