I usually have good luck with Ebay, but not this time. I bought my daughter a pair of Miss Me jeans which usually run 100.00 and we got these for 22.00. When we got them they were too short, and I would not have a problem with this except these jeans have been hemmed. I told the seller that I would like the jeans refunded and my shipping refunded. I also told her that if she is selling high-end jeans she needs to disclose they they have been hemmed because it changes the value of the jeans. They are professionally hemmed so there is no good way to take the hem out. She said she will refund the jeans, but not any of the shipping. I told her I am sending a complaint to Ebay and giving her a bad feedback.

That is too bad. Certainly, she should have disclosed the fact that the jeans had been altered. If she was any kind of a good seller, she would refund shipping both ways. I don't think ebay will make her refund your return shipping, but they should. It would only be fair since it was not as described. You will just have to ding her where it hurts, feedback and stars.

As Maryann said -- it's quite possible that it was an auction with mulitple items available. I see them all the time. Usually they are a "but it now" type of auction, but sometimes they're what's called a Dutch Auction. Go into your eBay profile -- in your list of items won, there should be a link to click on to leave feedback for the seller. If it takes you to the feedback page and you are able to enter text, then it means that you can leave individual feedback for your purchase. I've never sold anything on eBay (goodness knows I've bought enough stuff, though!), but I just don't see how it is possible for a seller to leave feedback for himself, even if he does use an intermediary for shipping. Are you willing to tell us what the item number is? That way, we all can take a look and tell whether or not it was a mulitple-item auction or a dutch auction, or whether it was a "regular" single-item auction.

I realize I finally have 'enough' fb to look like a good buyer. But I truly did struggle to get there, with begging. I have always checked the sellers fb rating to see if they are a good risk to send my money too. Only recently had I thought to check the fb they left for their buyers though. Only today did it dawn on me that I should use that too, to base whether or not I want to help that person make money. Maybe I am too old fashioned.... sigh... Somebody has to be first at leaving fb. I figure the seller may not want to leave fb, until they know they didn't have an irate buyer. I can accept that! But after I leave it, I thought more might leave it on me. alisande, maybe its just gone by the wayside now. The whole point of fb was for us to know the risk of the transaction with that person, buyer or seller. But if no one gives fb, what good is the system. Reviews on the net of merchandise, and feedback on sellers everywhere, helps me to decide about purchases. That is one thing I LOVE about the net!

I've been selling on eBay since 2003. It has definitely changed, with way more commercial sellers, for one thing. The same can be said for Amazon, where I also sell. Amazon has another practice they really should take a look at. Someone looking for a used book, for example, might find it listed many times by many sellers. One listing could show prices from a dozen sellers, but another listing could show five more, and on and on. This makes it hard to determine the best price for a given item. Still, I find eBay the best place to sell collectibles and buy certain items, and Amazon is my favorite place to sell books and buy just about everything.

Wow, that's exactly the kind of crap I'm talking about. What a sense of entitlement! And yes, I did offer it to the person who had the next highest bid and I couldn't get them to respond to me. He said he would buy it if they didn't want it. Then when I got no response, he acted like the other bidder was OBLIGATED to buy it, which is ridiculous. I told him the other bidder knew what they were willing to pay and stopped at that point, and for all we know he may very well have gone online and ordered one or bid on another one when he lost that auction. Then when I told him he needed to pay for it (as he said he would if the other bidder didn't take it), then his computer crashed and he would have to get a new computer so that he could pay for it. Wait, you can afford a computer and not a $30 plant? Hmm. At this point, I realized that this was a guy who, about a month earlier, I had dealt with here - someone I had offered the exact same species to - I had three of them, different sizes, and I offered them for $15, $19 and $25. He picked the middle one, then when I gave him the total with shipping, he whined that he couldn't afford it and he was buying it for his birthday, which he was going to be spending all alone because his sis was traveling and none of his other relatives would travel the 5 miles to see him...blahblahblah. I felt sorry for him and offered him a small start of the same species, one I would normally grow out and sell later, for $10 WITH shipping, and THAT was even too much. I had told him, well if you change your mind, the offer stands. So once I figured out this was the same guy, I just told him that I would let it go and report to eBay to try to get them to not make me pay the fees. Oh no, he didn't want me to do that! It was obvious that this is his M.O. I later learned that other eBay sellers have banned him from their auctions, so that's what I did. I saved every e-mail to warn other eBay sellers. Return shipping is actually the responsibility of the buyer although you will occasionally find a seller that will pay it. Just curious, but were all the measurements listed in the auction? That would be one question that should be asked if it wasn't stated in the auction. We're the jeans listed as new?

Original shipping cost, the seller is responsible to pay and if you put in a claim, the seller will be forced to pay it.

Do not forget to send the jeans back with delivery confirmation to get your money back.

If they were not as listed, the seller should most definitely pay for you to return them. Take it up with ebay, I will bet you'll get them to pay for return shipping which is NOT CHEAP btw! If it were just that you decided you didn't want them then YEAH it would be up to you to pay but the fact that they had been altered should have been disclosed!

Shipping is never returned that I know of. That's why you have to ask the questions before buying. Live & learn the hard way sometimes.

I always list the length of the inseam and if the jeans had been altered. I encourage buyers to ask questions before buying, but the jeans should of been listed as altered.

I gave her a bad feedback and sent a complaint to Ebay. I need to check and see if she gave me a feedback.

That "shipping is never returned" simply is NOT TRUE! My husband buys and sells on ebay all the time because he repairs computers and often times has to buy computer parts and also personal items and I will tell you that he has only ever had one seller not give him a refund on shipping.

Sellers can only give positive feedback. Once you send the jeans back with delivery confirmation, you will get your initial payment of the jeans plus original shipping cost returned to you. Next time ask for accurate measurements before you bid if they aren't already listed and save yourself the hassle.

How was the item described, I'm curious to know?
Were there any measurements?
I would agree that "altered" or "hemmed" should be prominent in the description -- even the general categories of "almost new" or "used" wouldn't cover that important factor.

They did not have the length but were 26 waist. She said they were great condition of Miss Me Jeans. No tears, stains, rips, etc. Good pre-owned conditiion.
She also said that I sent her a question about the length of the jeans, but I didn't.

Well that seller needs to produce that email question that you supposedly asked her. Ebay almost always sides with the buyer.
