Cute. There used to be a comic featuring a family with young kids. The 2 "bad guys" the kids blamed for their misdeeds were "Ida Know" and "Notme."

Kids at adult parties is an oxymoron. It's very simple really. An adult party is for ADULTS ONLY. No kids unless the hosts say to bring them during the invite. The host's kids are the only exception and the proper thing would be to have a sitter for them if they are young or pack them off somewhere for the night. Period. Weddings are are for the persons named on the invitations. NO one else is invited...not kids, not your sister, not grandma. If the name is not there then the person isn't invited. Period. Stores are business facilities. They are not playgrounds nor daycare centers. If your child must come with you then you must be in control of said child. When a child is in an adult environment for any reason it is up to the adult in charge of that child to be in charge. Period. I get really tired of all the posts trying to twist and turn things to suit their personal desires regarding their children. It's not about you or your kids...grow up. I had kids and I raised them to have respect for the environment they were in. Out in public or at someone's home they were to behave. If they didn't....we left. Yeah, I missed out on things but that's what parents do. My first had really bad colic and would start screaming at some of the most inopportune times. I've had to walk that mile. I never stayed where others had to be exposed to that. Even in a restaurants the food was packed to go while I waited outside. With the exception of a sick child waiting in line at the pharmacy their is no excuse what so ever to force other's to cope with your children being children. If you want them to be able to run around and be kids take them to the playground, a kid's pizza place or a playmate's home. When they are in a public or private space not specifically set up for the needs of children YOU deal with it or don't bring them in the first place.

Did the GF move back with her parents? or was he living off her and she booted him too??? I have my 21 year old son that left when he was 18 because he said he was a 'grown up' and could do what he wants. He didn't want my rules or to be told anything. He bounced around from place to place, wearing out his welcome. He also ended up with my mom for a year before coming back here. She also was giving him money and didn't expect him to do anything and then complaining to me. I told her that it's her problem, she let him move in. When he came back here, I laid down the expectations I have up front and he called my mom to complain. She called me up and wanted me to ease up on him. I offered to bring him back to her and she said "no, never mind, do it your way." He's been here six months (was supposed to be six to eight weeks) and has been working for three months (he did get two jobs) but has not saved much money. I took his last paychecks totalling about $600 to save and he's got until his next paychecks, which is another $600 and then he needs to go. He's been a terrible influence on my younger son (buying alcohol and getting him to stay out all night) and it's time he needs to make another go of it. 25 is way past time to go. MIL is enabling him if she paid off his car and gives him money. She also has to be proactive and make him do what she expects. My mom once called me to complain that my son won't help her around the house and I asked her "how is he going online? I see he's online right now." He was on myspace. She said, "that's what I mean. He's in his room and won't listen to me." and I told her to go walk over to the phone outlet (she has dial up) and disconnect the internet. She's paying for it and it's her house, she has every right to expect him to help and you can't give them mixed messages. Your husband should be supportive and if she needs him there to back her up, fine. But she needs to lay down her expectations and consequences too.

If the kids are in their 20's, they are old enough to call them on it and let them know that it's affecting their relationship with dad. I would say something like, "I know you love your mother very much and she may ask you to do things that put you in the middle, but you are old enough to understand that it is harmful to our relationship and the final decision is yours, whether you want that to happen or not." They are not small children (and it's much more common with young children) that are very loyal to their parents. When a small child does it, I would be less inclined to say something, although I have told my SD8 something to the effect of that when she cries that her mommy told her this or that. I think it's important to not sling mud back at the other parent because kids are fiercely loyal and will resent you more if you criticize their parent. What you're SK's are going through is what my mom put me through. After hearing more details, my mom also had an affair and my dad left (with encouragement of all his kids). I stayed with mom, I think because I felt a need to take care of her so she wouldn't be alone. She spent years telling me how he caused all the problems in their marriage, talked to me about their financial difficulties, even their sex life (which I really didn't need to know), and when he met someone else (dating), she would dig for information on his girlfriends and eventually when he married, she tried to break them up. She tried to get us to help but I was already almost 18 when he married and wouldn't go for it, but my sister did. My dad had to let my sister know that if she continued to treat his wife the way she did, she could stop coming around. My sister chose to behave herself. My mom still has a problem behaving herself, but she's gotten better. She comes around to holiday gatherings and my dad let her know that if she can't behave, she can't come over. (my step mom doesn't know my mom comes around because she's been in a vegetative state for over ten years) My parent's have been divorced for over 25 years and dad has been remarried for over 20. I've been accused of being judgmental or critical of bio parents because I believe that biomom's (and dads) put the kids in the middle by the things they say and do. But, I've experienced it firsthand with my mom, where she blatantly put us in the middle. When my son would go to his dad's house, I experienced the temptation to say things (I held back because I knew how it felt when my mom did that to me) but I did ask questions that in retrospect, was inappropriate and would be considered prying. At the time, I justified it by saying I had a right to know everything my child is doing at dad's but now I see how it put him in an uncomfortable position. I also experience my SD's mom doing it when my SD comes home telling us what her mom does or says and telling us things she shouldn't know anything about. We don't ask her anything but when she offers up information, we let her know that her mom probably wouldn't like her sharing information about what she (mom) does with us. We are only interested in what SD wants to share about herself. It's really up to the parents to stop and think about what they are saying to their children. I know that it can seem like you are just interested in your child's life but to a child, they feel torn when they feel one parent is just trying to get information on the other parent. They will also feel it's their fault if the information they provide causes a feud (ie. irate phone call or court battle) and in the long run, I think it affects the relationship of the parent that is putting them in the middle.

Thanks everyone, he is a wonderful man and will compromise in most areas. And yes my family hasn't accepted him as easy as his did. So I'm working on that. All mine going out to dinner tomorrow and coming back to our home to visit. With the passing of my belated they seem to have needed more time, however they love me and will on their time. Back to my bf, the Sunday thing I believe is a expected from him, not fair to kids. He left a marriage went wrong. Mutual agreement. He has a fit when they can't come and I feel joy inside. I'm sure we will work it out, I'm crazy in love with him

Hi georgysmom,

Bought a carton of native cigarettes, next door to me, some distance south-west of city for my friend.

Attended the senior men's (later retitled "Romeos" - Retired Old MenEating Out) coffee hour at church (which I call "The Old Farts' Club"), in village half way to the city. Washed cups.

Did some stuff on internet on computer in library in the southwest area of city ... during which time it started to snow.

Bought a bag of milk.

Goofed - should have delivered cigs. to friend near far end of city, northeast.

Went to visit my doc, to check blood work, out in country northwest of city, stopped snowing while I went out ... but was snowing when I left.

Delivered cigs to north-east corner of city, took him to store to get groceries, I got some.

Mostly stopped snowing ... drove through city to country library (this one), west-northwest of city, streets some slushy and wet - drive carefully.

Went cross-country, from northwest of city to southwest of city.

Got supper.

Doc says I'm still in good shape - B P O.K., maybe on edge of being low.

Cholesterol nearing edge of being a bit much ... but not so far.

A couple of visits ago, he said plans to retire in 2013 ... within a few minutes said 2014 ... I asked him whether he was sure that he had it all together??

Next visit, said he should tell me which ... as I felt that I'd have to die first... when he asked, rather shocked, the reason for that ... I said that everyone knows how hard it is to find a doc, these days.

This trip ... he says that he figures to retire ... in 2015!

I got a pair of knee-high pressure stockings two and a third years ago, and a third pair a few months later, about 40 bucks per pair, ten less if one uses their stores's loyalty card. I wear a pair of regular socks over them, to deal with the wear and tear provided by boots.

The medical supply store called a few months ago, to know how my stockings were doing. When, shortly after, I took them in for inspection, she said they were O K, which pleased my frugal heart.

She says that the way that one knows that they're about ready for pension is when the tops get slack, and start to slide ...

... wait a minute ... haven't we been down this road before ... with the under-wear, about whose habits I felt that I needed greater under-standing? About how to hold them up ... when the elastic had developed slackening habits ... stubbornly?

Wiseacres here, usually so capable, didn't provide a lot of help.

We had a big discussion here about three years ago about what I could do about lower-level underwear whose elastic had lost its stretchi-ness (not to stretch a point too far, I hope).

Everyone advised me to buy new.

I have an elastic girdle, that I can transfer from one to t'other (and replace as required).

Georgysmom, if he has him lashed to the mast, you can bet it's with recycled lashings! Are OJ's tongue lashings recycled?

Tell the whole story now Joyful, those bloomers were replaced subject to you releasing the old ones held hostage! Didn't your kids burn those rags yet?

One (late?) bloomer got replaced.

I was so busy using the others, and figuring out how to make one piece of elastic work for various lower underwear units (that hadn't been "under-worn", one could say) ...

... and not feeling justified in disposing of them, at that time.

At the following Christmas ... son and his lady gave up ... gave me the others.

Actually ... I think that he's only got a couple more, thus far.

Some are getting rather thin, though: best for summer wear, now.

And the original (thin, narrow) elastic has gotten rather old and tired, itself: likes to r3elax and stretch itself out, it does.

I have built some wider and thicker ones, so it gets to sit on the other bed, a good bit of the time.

When I originally asked for the help of the wise ladies here, I'd thought to say that I was having a problem ... but early realized that mine was just a "dilemma".

When when the waistbands of a man's lower undies lose their stretchiness, and tend to slide ... the middle gets caught in the crotch o' the pants ... and the outside slides down about to the knees, which causes a bit of a bind, is about all.

If a lady in similar circumstance has worn one of her nice dresses downtown and suffers a similar fate ...

... now THAT's a PROBLEM!
