First baby hatched!

at the Berry College eagle cam. They had two eggs. One hatched about 4 hours ago. Mom and Dad are both there right now feeding it.

My DIL has been spying on a bald eagle that she noticed before her 2 babies were hatched. Such beauty!

Katlan, I've been watching our GA Berry College Eagle cam too. Isn't that baby adorable? Just a little ball of gray fuzz. It just amazes me how the parents so carefully walk so as not to step on the eggs and now on the baby.

Hey all. I've been watching over this wild mothers nest for weeks now. But when i checked it today i noticed the eggs had hatched and there was only two left un hatched. )( Mother and babbys weren't there. I even checked the cracks and logs for any lost babbys )( So i picked up the first egg to poked a hole in it. Yoke came out. So that was a bad egg. I picked up the second egg and well There was a little beak sticking out. So! I made its hole bigger so it could come out than i looked around for the mother. I could find her. So I ended up taking the baby duck home with me. What should i do? Right now its on a heating pad/shirt. I have the number for a rescue center to call in the morning. Will it be okay over night? Juliette Awesome. I want to get some. They are so tiny and cute and adorable. I hope this 2nd batch does as well so that you overflow with love. I wish you lived closer. I would love to see them. I hope everyone bedazzles you with beauty and love. What is their behavior like. Do the tiny Roos chase you around the yard. :) At 12 ounces and a dollar a pound for chicken meat they should sell for 75 cents. If we crossed one with one of those big CornishX roosters I wonder what we would get. Have you ever wondered what would happen if you crossed a tiny Chihuahua with a great dane? Well I have. I am still working out the details.

GSTs have been known (CalSherry, I think) to eat another cat when big cats are kept in the cage with little ones - it appears to be more of an accident than on purpose, you know, it's eating the leaf and doesn't realize the little one's on it. I keep mine separated by size, and since you get a lot that hatch on or close to the same day, it isn't a problem. There's absolutely no need for each cat to have its own container. I had to put new mylar strips on the bluebird house last night due to lots of windy weather lately (most of them had ripped off in the wind). Anyway, I wasn't in the house more than a half hour and a thunder storm with HIGH WINDS swept through our area! Hope my babies are OK today. Anyway, the mylar is again all stuck together and most of it is torn off. I will need to put new mylar on it again tonight. Oh well, anything to help my bluebirds. Since I was out there last night, I decided to look inside again, and I was pleased to find the last egg had hatched!

It amazes me also. When they were feeding the baby last night and again this morning, it's surprising how big of a bite they give the little guy!

Very cute for sure. A little wobbly fuzz ball. I hope the other egg hatches also.

I hope the other egg hatches soon too. I was so afraid that little one was going to choke to death on those big pieces of food it was being fed.

Katlan, you might also enjoy watching Santa's Reindeer Cam. It is up all year round and located in Michigan. Right now there is a little deer laying in the feeding trough. LOL I also saw a squirrel running around and two large turkeys. I love checking this out.

If anyone wants to see the baby and the 2nd egg, mama just flew off the nest and they are visible right now!

First of all, thanks for forwarding the link. I found this out during nighttime. After that, every time I remember to check them out, it has been at nighttime too. So, all I've seen was mom eagle tucked her head behind asleep. That is until today.

I made a note to turn on the computer early to watch the eagles. It has been wonderful to be able to watch something up close that we otherwise could not see up at that level.

The mom eagle was out of the nest by the food. She was feeding herself and was preparing food to feed the baby. It was interesting. It seemed like she picked and chose the meaty portion of the food for the baby, she ate the bony parts.

I had to share this funny moment. While the mom was preparing the food, I saw something white literally shoot out horizontally from the baby and landed outside the nesting area at the edge of the nest. The baby pooped! LOL, I have never seen a bird pooped like that before. Such a tiny creature that operated like a shotgun. Yikes!

I just read on the site that the other egg is not viable, meaning it won't hatch. How sad, but at least the eagle couple have one healthy and cute little offspring who is really growing. I would think the parents would just shove that egg out of the nest. I just love watching these eagles.

Yes I am Linda. So is DH! haha I saw the baby poop when it was about a day old. Wow! shot out like a cannon, hahaha. I'm sad the other egg isn't going to hatch.....

Baby pooped today, like you said, shot out like a cannon. LOL The head is getting whiter and whiter and he sure has a good appetite. I say "he" because I think it is a male....it "yawns" just like the daddy eagle. LOL
