Okay, here is the dilemma,the hinges on the kitchen cabinets are old brass and can't be replaced. The cabinet shop that made the cabinets found some antique brass but I really don't want those. I can't afford to have new doors made for the cabinets so I'm going to have to paint the darn things. I have to get new pulls or knobs and am not sure what kind yet. So, here's the question. What color do I paint the hinges? Do I buy the pulls first and then do the hinges, or do I paint them white and find some pulls that will work?

Pam, You're on the path to becoming a real lepidopterists when you spend you vaction hanging out in bathrooms watching moths girl. LOL There is no cure, so enjoy the ride. As usual, Miss Sherry is on top of her species. But I'll kick in my observations to maybe help nail down the moth. While both species can be variable and do have very similar markings, I'd cast my vote that this is a Salt Marsh Moth rather than a Gypsie Moth female. The legs are the clue in this picture for me. Estigmene acrea do have black and white banded legs like the one in the picture while in Lymantria dispar the legs are not banded. As for the larva you saw, it could be construed as either from your scant description. Both are "fuzzy" although the Salt Marsh is more so. Acrea larva are very variable and can run from whitish cream to redish orange to brownish black color, even within the same colony. The gypsies are not as varible, and could be described as blackish. Word can not describe how beautiful everyone's creations have been. I finally opened mine today and let me tell you, we had another great match-up. My husband and I are remodeling our kitchen and it is now in different tones of green and blue. My gift from FIDDLEKATE fits right in. I've tried to take some pictures of it, but it is pretty dark in my kitchen right now. I will try to take some better pictures tomorrow and place them on Photobook. Katie also included some cut glass, marbles and some new sleeves for my running pliers. I was so excited to unwrap each of her gifts. Thank you Katie and happy New Year to you all you lovely ladies. Roarah, I haven't read all of the comments that show distaste for the wedding, but yours caught my eye. I have been fascinated by the Travellers and Roma cultures and want to have a better understanding of their lives vs. what is presented on TV. I have had this book on my shelf for a long time and have only read some of it: I need to finish it. When I've watched the TLC shows, I try to see (even though we all know that reality TV is pure fantasy) what they like about their culture through their eyes. In other words, what works? Why do they have certain traditions? When I first saw the enormous dresses and such, they floored me-- but I figured that everyone has different opinions of beauty. I am certain they would find my wedding dress with nary a sequin to be dull and uninspired. As for the girls who are married at the age of 14-- it is hard to think about that, for sure. I think it is wrong and hope there are activists who are helping them see this and end it. I wonder if it is a case of a culture that has remained very isolated and therefore a throwback to a time where people just didn't live as long . . .so things like marriage and family were done at a much younger age. We see rape and they see tradition. I think it is hard, in general, too, when we are introduced to only certain aspects of a culture or religion that greatly conflict with our own values and traditions. It is difficult to find a balance of respecting others while finding some of what they do to be immoral. What I do is to remind myself of how much I don't know . . .to understand that I am only seeing one tiny piece (and it's from an ethnocentric perspective anyway). But it can still be a challenge!
