I probably have a few other than the one Susie 53 made for me. I have one my Mother made that she embroidered in black a rooster on each pocket, it is blue and it is a sort of cobbler apron. I have a couple more that the girls have bought for me. I have Susie's down here and I plan on wearing it. I have made a lot of aprons in my time, but not for myself. I need to get in the mood to sew. I keep hoping :)

I have one bibed black apron and one Christmas bib apron...I do wear them, love aprons. I wear my Christmas one when my black one is in the wash.
They sure save on clothing stains!

Yes, I do like and wear aprons. My favorites are very old, though. Every time I'm in any store that sells aprons, I always look at what they have. I'd like to get some new ones, but I haven't been able to find what I want.

My favorite aprons, and what I would like to get again, are aprons made from terrycloth.

Think about it -- without an apron, we generally use a kitchen towel to wipe our hands on while we're cooking/baking. And lots of kitchen towels are made from terrycloth. It's soft, absorbent, and washable. I don't know why it's impossible to find terrycloth aprons these days.

I am afraid I need to wear them. I have one that is bibbed in a cranberry and green check, and I wear it often. It is quite old.

I have many chef's or butcher's aprons, all with pockets. They are of different colors but mostly white. I also have a couple of gardener's aprons. I probably wear an apron every day!

I keep a bar cloth or kitchen towel in the ties around my waist or I would be wiping my hands on me, too! I buy the cotton towels and sometimes the aprons at Costco.

Yes when I'm wearing decent clothes or doing a splattery dish.

I love pinnies, I like to wear them and I have several. I make mine reversible. And making one out of terry is a great idea, you could even use bath sheets for the material. They would certainly wash up nicely!

When I had a clothesline, I had a special pinnie for that chore, too. ;) It had a big pocket in the front with 2 hand holes to reach in to grab a clothespin. I miss that clothesline. I need a new one but DH balks, says I didn't use the old one enough.

The only time I wear an apron is when I'm cooking for a party and I've already changed into my party clothes. Otherwise, I wear washable garments and keep dish towels handy.

Yes, they protect my clothing when doing kitchen/cooking work. :)

I wear cotton/poly bibbed ones when I have on nice clothing or when I have having a party. I never wipe my hands on mine.. maybe I would if I had a terrycloth one?

I mostly wear them when I wear light colored or good clothes. Dark colored sweatshirts don't need the protection. I also wear them to the garden because I always find more ripe stuff than I can carry in my hands.

I would like to try a different pattern and terry cloth would be a good choice. I'll be on the look out for towels on sale or maybe Joann's has some I can use my coupon on.

I wear one when I remember to put it on. I finally found a pattern for what I want, now I just have to get my machines fixed and get the urge to sew. I have plenty of fabric and the pattern. Think the kind that Olivia Walton wore on Walton's Mountain, with the straps that went to the ties, not behind the neck. I wear what I cook and I wear what I eat!

I also like to wear an apron when I weave baskets. It helps keep my dry.

I love them and seeing so many cute and useful options. I still have the one I made in high school home ec class. Super easy method. I have several patterns and pictures of ones made using terry cloth towels.
Search pinterest for aprons so many cute ideas. Plus they are so easy to make. I have tons of fabric just never take the time.

By the way Sams sells a 3 pack of restaurant quality Bib aprons for $12.00 in solid colors black, white, brown, burgundy. These are nice quality fabric and would be great to decorate and craft, embroidery, paint etc.

I own 2. I only wear one when I have good clothes on; which isn't very often. Mostly when guests are coming to eat.

Yes, I collect them and have all of my grandmothers, which I treasure. She was never without. I wear an apron when doing the dishes and cooking/baking. I bought one recently called "the little black apron", even has a pearl necklace attached.

Yes, I like wearing an apron because I don't like getting anything on my hands while I'm cooking, not even water. I finally wore out all I that had, and couldn't find any good ones. I bought a piece of heavy terry cloth and my DD made me an apron out of it. I love it because it is long, just above my knees, and that keeps the splashes off of my clothes and I constantly dry my hands on it. It has the waist band with ties. Goes into the washer and comes out ready to wear.

Flamingo, I know you will remember the time when here at the KT, pinnies were a popular subject. I guess they were called pinnies because they were much like a pinafore.

I never cared for the cobbler style, although a pocket on an apron is a good idea; didn't think about that when my DD made mine.

OH I love that "then she made......" one! How simple! You can make that even without a sewing machine. You can use a needle and thread for that, yeah it may take a little longer but it's really not that much sewing to do. I think you could even get by with just folding the arm places over and not even worry about sewing it unless you are trying to impress someone...HAHA! I like the idea that it's just a towel because I would be more apt to wear it knowing it's just a towel and I can wipe my hands on it. I am constantly looking for a towel because I wash my hands what seems like a thousand times!

Yes, Sue- I remember that quite well. ;). My mother always calls an apron a pinnie and I'm sure it was her Irish mom's term for apron. She probably has 25 different ones. As well as protecting her clothes, a good pinnie provides nice pockets and a bit of extra warmth.

I think aprons are fun, cute, and practical. And I hardly ever wear one. :-)

Thanks to the KT, though, I made seven of them two Christmases ago for family members, using men's shirts. Plus I made one for myself. It hangs on a hook in the kitchen, looking hopeful. LOL

Aprons make me think of Mama. I loved wearing hers and did wear them when I was first married.

I have two of the heavy white butcher's aprons that I use when I am baking. They hang on hooks in the kitchen. I have several apron patterns and plan to make some for gifts this year.

I always wear one when cooking or washing dishes. I have a dread of having stains on clothing like a good friend has :-(

I buy tea towels and bar cloths at WM and bleach them each laundry cycle. They wear like iron and last forever.

I've worn rubber gloves for dishwashing since the 60s. They are a god-send during cold weather - use them in summer also but sometimes whoo, too hot and damp.

No aprons at my house. If it can't be made in one bowl, in a short time, without a lot of fuss and mess...I'm not making it.

Mom was a career woman. Grandmother was a terrible cook. I just don't do it anymore. I have cooked and baked, and received compliments, but I don't enjoy it. I appreciate good food, but don't like a hugely unbalanced ratio of prep time v. "all gone". I'm an 'eat to live' person, not the reverse.

One of my long time faves is made of a good quality blue jean material that is well worn and feels just like a great pair of old jeans. It is longer to about my knees and looks like a butchers bib style apron. I can not remember where I got it but it was used when I got it so probably at a thrift store. There is nothing I can do to hurt it and it just keeps looking better with age unlike myself lol
It has metal grommets in the denim and the ties attach there. I assume it was made by someone.
I love pockets on my aprons. That one does not have one.
The one we made in home ec had 2 big ones along the bottom front. It was basically 2 large rectangles of fabrics all edges turned and sewn. Then stitch the two together at the top corners which gives you a boat neck type opening. Stitch a tie onto the front section on each side. And we added another section of fabric all along the bottom front to make the 2 pockets, stitch in the middle to divide it into 2 instead of one big one. You are fully covered front and back. I use it a lot because it is not as long and those big pockets are handy. You can make it as wide or long as needed.

I used to wear them a lot. I had two of my grandmother's which I loved and finally gave them to my sister. I have a really pretty one another sister gave me. It has a strawberry pattern all over it and a bib. It's cute!

I think that the reason I never wear an apron, even though I think they are handy, is that I don't find them to be comfortable and I just hate the string behind my neck because it feels like it's digging into the back of my neck. I believe I could only stand to wear an apron that is just around my waist. I am going to come up with an easy way to make one out of a linen dish cloth I believe. It needs to be absorbent so linen is the best thing out there!

Arkansas girl, that is exactly why I like the ones my grandmother wore! I can't stand anything pulling on my neck.

I have 2 from Paderno - a green one and a burgandy one. I don't wear them every time I cook, just when it's something messy that could splatter.

I have some really old aprons.....and wore one recently my mother made about 50 years ago.
There is a big market for then at our local antique shops and I am thinking about getting rid of the many I have.
I bought a lot of them at yard sales for next to nothing.
I can still remember the first apron I made, way back in the very early 50's, in junior high sewing class. It was a blue cowboy print.......we got to go to the fabric store to pick out our fabric.
