Three Things That Happened at Your House Today

1. I did not go to church, more snow and son in law Kevin is sick.

2. Husband dropped keys outside of his car last night and it snowed . He did not miss them till after he had used the snow shovel to clear around his car this morning. He could not find them. He has only one car key. I suggested we get a metal detector and look. Our son in law Mike brought his over and found them in short time.

1. I cut out a little sun dress and sewed just a bit on it.

3. After getting a new kitchen ceiling yesterday I am putting my kitchen back together.

Opening day is Nov 15th here. Probably will sound like WWII after dawn. I hope EVERY hunter gets at least one, more if they can. We are really overrun with Whitetails. We have the highest car/deer accident rate in the whole State!! However with the aging of America, the hunter numbers are going down, just when we wish there were more actively hunting. Many just go out for fun. Our school is closed under the pretext for In-Service days for the teachers. Kids would be excused absent in great numbers, so better to just schedule the kids off anyway! Quite a few farm kids will get their deer and we have a special Kid Hunt time for kids only to go out with adults, learning hunting skills. There is also bow and musket seasons when the regular guns are done. We get venison from friends, husband is not a hunter. They are good carcass cleaners, meat has great flavor, you can't tell it is venison at all. It is a dry meat, you have to be careful not to overcook it. Elk are only available if you win the hunting license lottery, get a spot. Only a few spots given out. Weather change for the cold should help keep the hunters awake! Warm day, warm clothes, most just sleep away the day!!

Went to the mall which we rarely do because it drives both of us crazy. I got a new pair of my favorite ear rings. Hubby got 3 new suits for work, hit some sales. Thank goodness for my scooter. Went to Willies for dinner. Am crashed out in my recliner. Oh I did fix breakfast for us this morning.

OK, since you asked...what I did today I reviewed 27 individual profit and loss statements before I signed off on the verification of the November financial statements. I had a conference call to review the status of the remaining 2012 capital projects, actual spend and projected estimated final costs. And I spent the rest of the afternoon arguing dealing with screwups issues on the Capital Budgeting system which was giving me incorrect spend data to prepare a report that was due at end of day and didn't get done :(

Here is some good, free :), advice of exactly how to avoid many of the above items, and worse, from happening. Get a really good area Real Estate Attorney (not your friend's friend who went to law school) to review your contract before you give one $ in deposit to any builder! I cannot overstate this enough. Many of the issues in these forums would have been avoided if the folks got proper representation and contract review!! Spend the $1000-$2000 its way worth it. Make a list of all your "wants" and "needs" before designing a plan. Make sure you list them in order of importance as you will most likely need to sacrifice some to obtain the others. Nothing is perfect and you will not get 100% of everything you want. Be ready for that. Find a good local architect to design your plans. Make sure you and the architect have some chemistry as this helps in understanding what you want and need (lifestyle, budget, lot constraints, etc.) and your plans will reflect that. Make sure you have not only plans but specifications (at least as many as you can think of, otherwise assign allowances such as kitchen cabinets $10K or $60K, you get the idea). Put the plans and specs. together and bid the project out. Make sure everyone is pricing from the same information or you will not be able to truly compare. Do your due diligence on local builders (should generally not be more than 45 min to 1 hour away from their base of operation). Your architect can help you with #s2-6 (obviously #3) above but it will cost you extra. Unless you are very good at design, hire a good interior designer and make a furniture layout on your new plans. This is critical so that you know if your window and door placements work and you will be able to configure your lighting much better that way. Its worth the investment for sure. The more you pre-plan and are prepared the better/smoother your project will go. Good luck with your project.

I am in Orange County babysitting 5 year old DGD since Thursday~~today we have had a bath, done 2 loads of ldy, ran out and got fast food lunch for her, I and her 20 year old bro~~we have watch too many to count cartoons~~played outside and on the computer. Now she is bored and singing on her karaoke machine that has a echo setting;) I am tired~~

I went to early church--8:15;
after I got home, DH and I had second cup of coffee and a muffin (Sunday treat);
I fixed stew for dinner;
we took a nap--and then, it started snowing, AGAIN!

Made my early morning green sludgie, we went out to a great place for brunch /lunch called Another Broken Egg. I was a happy girl when I left that place. Came home after a scenic drive on the mountain to do a little housekeeping.

1. Grocery shopped using regular coupons, digital Publix coupons, and saved money using apps as well-Ibotta, Checkout 51, Receipt Hog, and Upromise. Sure makes shopping more complicated but I am experimenting to see how much I can save if I put my mind to it,. I did get 2 free boxes of Cheerios among other saving.

2.Bought hydogen peroxide and epsom salts for 2 projects I will work on later this week-KT spot teeter and a home-made concoction like Pyrex Crystals or Downy Unstopables.

3. Walked the dog. We don't walk nightly like we used to. I have been lazy.

Got up late and made Sunday bacon and eggs.

Pulled out the Hoover wet scrubber and moved furniture to do the LR, Kitchen and Hallway tiles. (BR and baths will have to wait for my back to stop hurting.) Hauled out the silk bamboo and hosed it and its' basket clean on the lanai -- brought it in before any of the birds eyeing it could start nests.

Watched the first half of "Blue Jasimine" with DH at teatime. (Decided -- again -- that I really dislike Woody Allen's films. They are the same thing over and over and...)

A pretty lazy day:

Went to church and sang in the choir (our anthem today was my favorite "Down to the River to Pray")

Stopped at the grocery store on the way home and picked up some sandwiches for lunch

DH and I went for a countryside drive this afternoon. Drove quite a ways; lots of snow and not very many deer out today. Cold.

Didn't go to the gym today cause I did too much yesterday.

lunch, homework, and fight (he didn't turn in his intent to take AP classes. After he's registered, I signed, off and completed the form... didn't turn it in. What's next not applying to university?!)

divided up my marathon stew meal. finished dh's laundry, and watched the Olympics...with 3 chs we are in heaven! (Detroit gets cbc (Canada) nbc and nbcsp...we had gone out to breakfast but thanks be. had done all the shopping on Saturday!

today it's empty the dw, and reload...once again vac by the front door..i'm soooo tired of dragging salt in despite 2 mats outside, rug inside...even with that, found salt in the bathroom throw rig!
