Been trying ever so hard to eat good, but today, I didn'tand it was delicious!

Doesn't that tick you off, Gadgets?? One chain of grocery stores start their specials on Thursday and everyone else is Friday. A large drugstore chain starts their's on Saturday and they have butter on sale this week. Geesh, one can be out every day, just to get specials!

I've got dinner on the go.....sauteeing cabbage, carrots and onions. Pork chops in a skillet and potatoes on the boil. I might put them thru the ricer, or just leave them as is.

Tonight it is pancakes, ham, and I will have some milk to drink. Will soak some soup beans overnight to cook tomorrow with some of the ham. Wonder how much snow will arrive. Predictions are from 6 to 12 inches.

Meeting my wife and a couple of friends at a pizza place named Brixx before a play tonight. Coincidentally I just read in the local free paper that a friend from work won a local beer brewing contest, and the local micro brewer that sponsored the contest made a batch of his winning recipe and distributed kegs of it to a few local restaurants... including Brixx.

Chicken Soup. Leave enough room for ice cream later. Sales start Wed & Sun, plenty of time to visit them all in one day. No hurry to be "first" in line.

Broiled scrod, steamed brussel sprouts and sugar glazed carrots. (DH likes sweet things)

OldFixer, I don't go out every day, but depending what it is, it's best to go the first day if possible. I've gone on Friday as I like getting my shopping done on Friday, and they were out of the chicken breasts (started Thurs). So it means an extra trip anyway.

Walmart is the absolute worst for running out of advertised specials. They've been that way for years. I seldom shop WM for that reason, and there's one in my neighbourhood.

We're having pork bbq and a salad. We'll be having pretty boring stuff for a while. DH is having success on the low carb diet, but there's not much variety during this first stage.

I went the last sale day (Tue) and found ample boneless chicken breasts for $1.88/lb.

Glenda: Sometimes you just have to eat the good stuff instead of the good for you stuff. Yours sounds good.

Jasdip: I could easily set myself down at your table tonight. Take a bite for me.

Sue: I'll take some ham and pancakes tonight and be back tomorrow for ham and beans.

Bob: I hope you and yours are enjoying the pizza and beer. I only want a sip on a hot day. Have a good time at the play.

Old Fixer: Chicken soup and ice cream. Sounds like a winning combo to me. In our small town, sometimes you have to be there by 9am/1st day or you're out of luck.

Ellen: I'd like to have a taste of your broiled scrod, if you don't mind.

Kittiemom: I hope you don't get too bored with the food. Is the next stage better? What you had tonight sounded good to me.

Robert has a pal who has a couple of spring fed ponds stocked with crappy and bass. He brought over several of each that he caught just before supper. I just pan fried some filets in butter and made a salad.

We had baked chicken thighs covered with leeks, steamed broccoli with garlic and lemon, Japanese rice and a wonderful salad as the start to this tasty meal.
I have been eating a lot healthier since we started getting the biweekly CSA box.
And I have been going to the gym 5X/week and am up to one hour each time.
I have to get rid of this winter (which has been non-existent here)
fat.

I've wanted to try making kale chips, so picked up a big bag of cut kale on Thursday....

For dinner last night I used half the kale.... made kale & bean soup with what I had on hand: olive oil, onions, garlic, kale, carrot, red kidney beans, hot turkey sausage, and sweet peppers. For the main meal I made easy baked chicken thighs, baked sweet potato, and a big garden salad. It was GREAT!!! :)

Maybe I'll make those kale chips today. LOL!

The pizza was good, although they didn't yet have my friend's award winning beer on tap. I re-read that article and it didn't say they would distribute the beer on Feb 27th, it said "shortly after" the 27th.

The play after dinner was not great. (to put it mildly). It was set in a gallery of a museum on the last day of a modern art installation with the characters being the guard, the curator and various other visitors to the museum. For the way the play seemed to be poking fun at the patrons gushing over modern art and its breaking the rules and eschewing the norms of materials or color or form, the play really seemed to be on shaky grounds given that it was essentially a play equivalent of modern art, with the way it eschewed the norms of plot or character development.

Bob, sorry to hear your night was a bit disappointing.

We went out to Mexican. It was good. I brought over half home.

Shirley, the bbq and salad were good. At this stage of the diet, even some veggies are only allowed in limited quantities and fruit isn't allowed. We will begin adding some higher carb veggies and some fruit back in after the first 2-4 weeks but continue to avoid bread, pasta and rice most of the time.
