I saw it yesterday and the only up feeling I had at the end was the same as yours. My family with all of our problems are perfectly OK. I think that both Meryl Steep and Julia Roberts gave Oscar worthy performances. I will say that I am still thinking about that movie. I wanted to see Saving Mr. Banks, but I was outvoted by my two friends! I'm sorry February is a bad month for you. May you feel better.

Oh wow! My kids and I tried to be extras in this movie. Didn't get called back. I would like to see the movie just because we didn't live too far from where it was filmed.

satine, find a good comedy on tv. or open up free music site and listen to some great songs from whatever era you like. Fight your way out of this. Fight hard. I hope you can shake this feeling.

I'm also sorry that I saw this movie! There was great acting but the story line was depressing.

Sorry that the movie mad you sad. Good thing is February is a short month. I agree find a funny movie and enjoy it. I don't like sad movies either or tv shows. I want to be entertained and laugh.

I'm sorry you're feeling blue today, Satine. I too always had a hard time with February, but then God blessed me with three birthdays that month that kept me busy; now it just whips by. I very much agree that seeing funny movies, or reading funny books is helpful, at least to me. Did you ever read "Funny in Farsi?" I really enjoyed that book and laughed a ton. If the weather is ok, maybe you can take a trip to the library? I'll be thinking of you and saying a prayer for you.

Thanks for the good thoughts. I was surprised to see that others feel the same way about the movie but glad to see its not just me. I have slept a good part of the day but Im going to try to get dressed and get out for a car ride in the country and may go to my daughter's house for a bit. Thanks to all of you.

How about we tell something funny?? Like, DH is helping with Super Bowl food, hmmm, o.k. come on in the kitchen and help. You can mix up the buffalo chicken dip. As I'm getting ready to put it in the oven I see the can of chicken on the counter! At least I realized the chicken had been left out BEFORE I baked it.

Satine, I'm shocked that somehow you thought it was going to be an uplifting movie. I have heard nothing but how dysfunctional it its. My movie group is going to see it on Thursday, but we are well aware of what to expect. We are going purely to see the performances.

If you have HBO, do watch Parental Guidance. A really delightful, pleasant movie I think you would enjoy.

Oh, another movie to watch, Identity Thief. Has Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy.

I recommend a comedy to ease your sadness.

I was going to go see it, but when I told my daughter that I was going she told me not to go. A friend of hers had seen it and said it was very depressing.
I too am a widow, lost my husband 5 months ago from pancreatic cancer and my kids are always protecting me from anything sad or depressing.

DH and I saw the movie today. It was depressing, but I did enjoy the bits of humor in it. We both wished it had ended differently.

I'm sorry it left you feeling sad, and I'm sorry for your loss of loved ones.

Rose, bless your kids for protecting you and helping you through this. I remember how hard it was for our mother. Dad was only 60 when he died. Mom was still teaching at the time. I think that's what made her get up every morning through the really hard, early times.

Yes, it is a depressing movie, more so when you know that it's based on a true story....but the acting, especially by Meryl Streep, is phenomenal. I enjoyed it thoroughly just watching her performance.

I've been wanting to see it but can't get my daughter to see it with me so one of these days I'll go by myself. Sorry it made you sad.
