| I was watching a TV show (not a cooking show) and a lady was talking about her recipe for baked zitti. I confess I have never heard of zitti so it might not be a midwest thing but I would like to try it. I am guessing any pasta would work for this dish but would appreciate a tried and true recipe. | I just made some this week but I do mine in my Aroma cooker not in the oven. |

Pretty common around here. But it's one of those things you don't use a recipe for. You just combine some cooked ziti, sauce, meat (cooked ground beef or Italian sausage) if you want, some riccotta cheese, parm, and a few handfuls of mozzarella. Top with more mozzarella and bake until heated through. It's sort of a sub for lasagna, I guess. And one of those things people always show up with when there's a death in the family (it's SO comforting and so easy to have a big pan of something like that in the fridge when you don't feel like either cooking or eating.)

I saw this one on allrecipes and added it to my recipe box. Uses pre made sauce and looks quick and easy. Good reviews. Looks like something my crew would eat. Thanks for mentioning it.
Here is a link that might be useful: Baked ziti

DH just made a delicious recipe from Pioneer Woman's website. He used rigatoni because that is what we had on hand. It was.so good. Took a casserole of it to DD2s house, even 2 year old DGD loved it and asked for seconds!

I made this last night. I put spaghetti sauce (homemade meat sauce), Italian cheese blend (Kraft), and a jar of 4 cheese blend sauce...the kind you use with pasta...can't think of the name...baked altogether. I didn't do the ricotta, forgot to get some. It was still pretty good.

I spelled ziti wrong but guess you figured that out. I did write down a couple recipes .I think I would like the Italian style the best. I am going to try it with 1/2 ground beef and 1/2 Italian sausage.Actually, It is very similiar to pasta dishes we make in the midwest. Will check the next time I buy groceries and see if they have Ziti. Lois

When I think of ziti, I think of ricotta. I've been hungry for stuffed manicotti, speaking of those kinds of ingredients.

My dds love 5 cheese Ziti from Olive Garden and I found a copycat recipe the other day on-line. I need to find it again and make it.

If you don't find "ziti", penne is the same thing. Your ground beef and sausage combo sounds great. I agree with azzalea, you don't really need a recipe, just use your imagination with sauce, cheese and meet combo.
